Hello darlings! Emma here, and I'm bursting with excitement after a whirlwind weekend in Prague, the City of a Hundred Spires, where every corner is a picture postcard and every moment feels magical!
Now, I don't know about you lovelies, but I believe travel is an adventure best undertaken in a pink tutu! (Isn't it obvious?!). So, for this trip, I've packed a selection of my favourite frothy, twirly numbers – the "Pink Paradise," "Strawberry Dream," and the new "Prague Pretty" creation, designed specially to blend with the cobblestone streets and the enchanting golden hues of the city.
This past weekend, I arrived in Prague by train – of course! Nothing beats the romance and beauty of train travel, and a tutu always makes the journey that much more spectacular. (Tip: If you're travelling on the Eurostar, it's worth packing a light, easy-to-pack tulle option to make boarding those tiny little carriages easier).
The first thing I did upon arriving was to book myself into the charming Hotel Černý kůň. It's hidden away in a cobblestone street, just a stone's throw from the Charles Bridge, and I immediately fell in love with the traditional, elegant decor – very "vintage ballerina" chic! And yes, they have the most fabulous selection of pink pillows you could ever imagine. My dreams of dancing sugarplums were practically guaranteed.
My weekend adventure kicked off with a much-needed ballet class at the beautiful Taneční konzervatoř – which is Prague's ballet academy, just imagine! I'd actually been researching Prague's dance scene, and was so excited to see what an incredible history it has! Did you know it's been home to the National Theatre Ballet since 1883, and they have their very own academy? Fabulous! I'm quite certain I spotted one or two aspiring prima ballerinas practicing at the nearby park!
Shopping for Tutu Delights
After a warm-up, there was, of course, some essential shopping. You can't go to Prague without taking advantage of their exquisite craftsmanship and delicious artisan goodies! I found a vintage-inspired pink silk scarf with tiny ballet slippers embroidered around the edges, perfect for adding a touch of ballerinaliciousness to any outfit. It's definitely going to feature heavily in future blog posts!
And did you know, dear reader, that there's a thriving Prague pink market?! (You know I love to be in the know!). Well, maybe not a full-on "pink" market, but the Náplavka* - a beautiful, bustling area of pop-up shops and stalls along the Vltava River – is bursting with everything a pink-tutu-loving girl could desire. From hand-painted ceramics to colourful jewellery, handmade bags and dainty teacups – I practically went into sensory overload! It's the perfect place to find quirky souvenirs and unusual trinkets that reflect the vibrant, artistic spirit of Prague.
Dancing Through History at the Estates Theatre
As you know, I am completely captivated by theatre history, so no visit to Prague would be complete without visiting the historic Estates Theatre. It's a stunning Baroque building with a fascinating story - it was where Mozart first performed his opera "The Marriage of Figaro" back in 1786! (So very fabulous)!
Although they were not performing "The Marriage of Figaro" during my visit (sadly!), the Estates Theatre held a captivating performance of Romeo and Juliet. And my oh my! It was so much fun. I adore Shakespeare's plays - there's something timeless and dramatic about his characters! I felt like I had stepped into a romantic, theatrical dream – all that soaring passion and timeless storytelling, amidst the exquisite grandeur of the historic setting – my pink tutu, it twirled in the most joyous fashion!

And my travels didn't end there! I had to pay a visit to the breathtaking Prague Castle - the largest ancient castle complex in the world! What a magnificent site. You see, the Palace gardens are home to the Ballet School of Prague, the Klicpera Theater and a rather excellent boutique called "Ballerina Dream", which of course, had me drooling over exquisite pink velvet dance slippers! I purchased a little pair, with sparkling rhinestones, to adorn my ballerina shoe collection - a little souvenir to remember this spectacular city!
A Magical Dinner by the River
No visit to Prague would be complete without experiencing a little riverside magic. So, after a day exploring the enchanting castle, I found myself sipping Prosecco on a terrace overlooking the Vltava river. There was live music in the air, twinkling lights bouncing on the river, and the city's illuminated spires painted against the darkening sky. This, my dears, was sheer bliss, a perfect end to a whirlwind weekend!
And did I tell you about my incredible dinner at the "U Medvídka" pub? A traditional, bustling place in a stunning gothic building - so much atmosphere. I was feeling so adventurous that I even tried a slice of trdlo, which is this delicious cinnamon pastry traditionally baked over a fire - and of course, I paired it with a beautiful glass of local Czech wine (with just the right amount of fizz!)

The streets of Prague, with their winding paths, enchanting squares, and historical buildings, have a unique way of transporting you into a different world, a place of romance, charm, and timeless elegance. It's a city where imagination flourishes, and beauty whispers at every corner – the perfect backdrop for my tutu dreams!
Prague, with its romantic heart, captivating architecture, delicious cuisine, and vibrant dance culture – it truly has left me breathless, with a suitcase filled with wonderful memories and a renewed appreciation for the joy of exploring new cities, one pink tutu at a time! I can’t wait to visit again.
