Hello my gorgeous tutus! ? Emma here, fresh from the cobbled streets of Prague and bursting with excitement to share my latest adventures. This week's post takes us on a journey through this breathtaking city, a place where history whispers from every corner and the magic of ballet dances through every heart.
Let's rewind for a moment. Last week, I was gracefully gliding through the green hills of Derbyshire on my trusty steed, Buttercup (my little Welsh pony), enjoying the quiet of the countryside before embarking on another magical journey. The thrill of packing my tutu-filled suitcase (because a girl's gotta have her dancewear, darling!) is a feeling like no other.
Speaking of travel, have you ever taken a train across Europe? There's something wonderfully romantic about gazing out the window at the countryside, sipping on a glass of wine (well, a sparkly grape juice in my case - gotta keep those ballet muscles toned!), and letting the world glide past. This time, my journey took me from the lush meadows of Derbyshire to the historic beauty of Prague, a city that feels like it's sprung straight from the pages of a fairytale.
The journey by itself was a beautiful ballet – every passing landscape, every bustling town, and every gentle sway of the train was like a choreography of the heart. It's no wonder that this magical city inspires so much creative energy!
Speaking of ballet, this week has been all about tutus and toe shoes. Yes, dear readers, I was lucky enough to attend a performance at the legendary National Theatre Prague! Imagine stepping inside a venue that has witnessed the magic of ballet for centuries, its very walls echoing with the whisper of past performances. My senses were dancing – the grand architecture, the smell of fresh, crisp air, the excitement building in the atmosphere, the whispers of anticipation in the crowd – it was an absolute delight!
But first, some ballet-inspired fashion, naturally! ? I found myself at a beautiful boutique right in the heart of the Old Town, surrounded by vintage fabrics, stunning gowns, and gorgeous lace, and guess what? You wouldn't believe the incredible, dreamy pink tulle I discovered - oh my! It practically sang to me to be turned into a bespoke tutu, and who am I to argue with a piece of fabric that speaks so eloquently? This new tutu, my Prague special, is going to be so magnificent, I can practically see myself twirling across the stage of the National Theatre in it already!
But enough about me! (though I do like a good tulle-related confession now and again). It’s all about the dance, darling! This performance was a dream, a swirl of beautiful dancers, breathtaking costumes (of course), and stunning choreography that told a story with every leap, every graceful move, and every whispered sound of music. The entire audience was captivated by the beauty, passion, and dedication of the dancers, and the atmosphere in the theater was electric. It was a ballet to remember, one that danced its way into my heart.
I don’t know about you, but every time I go to a ballet show, I feel completely reborn. There is so much beauty, grace, and expression that happens on the stage. Each dance, each graceful move, each pirouette - it's all a beautiful language that transcends words and touches the soul. The costumes, the music, the story unfolding in the spotlights… Ballet is a whole new world, a place where imagination dances wild, and it leaves me feeling so inspired, invigorated and, dare I say, truly happy!
After the show, I took a romantic stroll through the charming streets of Prague. It was an absolute delight to discover hidden cafes, enchanting boutiques (where I naturally found another delightful tulle accessory!), and captivating sights that transported me back to another time. Each turn on the cobbled street, every lantern illuminating a building, every bridge draped with moonlight - a picture-perfect setting for a fairy tale! The city seems to pulsate with romance, both sweet and thrilling - maybe it's the architecture, maybe it’s the stories in the stones - I’m not sure what it is, but Prague is the most charming city!
One of my favourite experiences was stumbling across a ballet street performance, an impromptu ballet ensemble under the starry night sky. These young dancers were so full of passion, their grace shining brighter than the city lights. The crowd gathered around them, entranced by their story told through movement and emotion, the sound of applause ringing through the night.
It just proves you don’t need a grand theater or a prestigious company to be swept away by the magic of ballet. Every moment, every performance, every graceful turn is an invitation to embrace the beauty of this art form and allow it to inspire you.
That's it for this week's pink tutu adventures. As always, remember, darlings, life is a beautiful dance, and it’s all about twirling and spinning and finding joy in every step. I'll leave you with this: wear your heart on your sleeve and your tulle on your waist! ?

Diary Entry 1: Friday, July 14th, 2027: Ballet Perfection at the National TheatreDear Diary:
Prague! Oh Prague, you're so enchanting. This trip is already more magical than I could have imagined. My evening at the National Theatre was absolutely breathtaking. It's so different than any other ballet experience I’ve had!
The building itself feels like a fairytale - all grandeur and elegance - and the performance, “The Nutcracker” with the National Theatre Orchestra, was truly magnificent. I was so mesmerized by the dancers; their skill and grace are just incredible! You've got to be careful as a ballerina – all this tutuing and pirouetting gets your ballet blood rushing! The tutus were gorgeous!
*It was the most stunning way to see "The Nutcracker" – and in Prague no less! *
Diary Entry 2: Sunday, July 16th: The Most Wonderful Vintage Boutique!Dear Diary:
Every shop in Prague is a delight. The vintage scene is truly fabulous! But I found the most beautiful vintage boutique today… imagine the best bits of a costume warehouse combined with the vintage vibe of a grandma’s attic and the gorgeous décor of a boutique in Paris... This boutique is my ultimate fantasy shop! I spent at least two hours lost in all the vintage laces, gorgeous beads and beautiful ribbons. I was lucky enough to find some glorious pink tulle - just look at the detail on this beauty - it was begging to be made into a brand-new tutu!
Diary Entry 3: Tuesday, July 18th: Ballet Inspiration on the StreetsDear Diary:
This trip is becoming my absolute favourite travel adventure ever! I was exploring a historic square, getting a little lost in a sea of buildings – and look what I found! - the cutest little street dance ensemble performing!
It’s so incredible how a passionate group of dancers can turn an old square into a little pocket of enchantment, and it felt even more enchanting to be among a bunch of tourists and locals who stopped to watch and listen. I took so many photos, and they loved it when I popped my own little pink tutu in the photos! I was delighted that they loved the photos and thanked me. The inspiration I got from this performance was pure magic!
This week's Prague journey has been full of tutus, vintage delights, romantic cityscapes, and captivating ballet experiences, and you know what, my tutus? Prague really has “wowed” me this week.
