Hello lovelies! It’s Emma from Derbyshire, here with a brand new blog post straight from the cobbled streets of Prague. Yes, that’s right, this little pink-tutu-wearing ballet enthusiast has hopped aboard the Eurostar (yes, ponies haven’t quite cracked intercontinental travel yet, but hey, I'm always looking for a new adventure!) and headed over to the heart of Europe!
Now, you all know how much I adore ballet and fashion, but even I didn't expect Prague to steal my heart in the way it has. It’s a fairytale city straight out of a ballet set – imagine delicate gothic architecture with its towering spires reaching for the heavens, pastel-coloured buildings reflecting in the shimmering Vltava River, and those cobblestone streets perfect for twirling your way through, tutu and all!
Ballet in the City of a Hundred SpiresBut let’s get down to the nitty-gritty, the reason I came to Prague: ballet! This city is positively brimming with ballet history. Just wandering through the historic Old Town Square is like stepping back in time. Imagine the beautiful dancers, adorned in dazzling tutus, gracing these cobbled streets hundreds of years ago. And who knows, maybe some of the dancers from the Royal Opera, just like the ones who grace the stage now, might have taken the very same stroll!
My trip to Prague wouldn’t be complete without indulging in a little ballet pilgrimage. The grand National Theatre is an absolute must-see, the epitome of elegance and history. Stepping inside its gilded halls, it’s almost like stepping into a gilded cage! They boast a ballet company with a reputation that stretches back centuries. Oh, the magic and the drama!
And let's not forget the other gem, the State Opera – another exquisite example of Prague’s rich cultural heritage. Its beautiful architecture, complete with intricate decorations and dramatic lighting, provides a simply stunning backdrop for any performance. Honestly, it takes the “breathtaking” out of "breathtaking," it’s that incredible!
Tutu Adventures in PragueYou know me – no trip would be complete without indulging my tutu obsession. I made a beeline for the Prague Fashion & Design Week to see the latest fashion trends and of course, try out some new tutus. Let's just say that a vintage tulle creation I snagged from a local vintage boutique will be starring in my next Instagram photoshoot! You guys are going to love it!
Of course, no trip to Prague would be complete without a touch of whimsical adventure, and that’s where my love affair with The Astronomical Clock came in. Every hour on the hour, I watched with delighted awe as the figures danced, the bells chimed, and the clock tower itself came to life. It's a ballet performance, complete with intricate movement and a captivating sense of wonder! And you know me, I’ve already started designing a tutu that embodies the whimsical beauty of Prague!
From Pastel Streets to Gourmet DelightsAfter the ballet and the shopping, there’s nothing more I love than exploring Prague's culinary scene, and I’m not afraid to say I've gone a little wild! The food scene is a masterpiece of textures and tastes. From the aromatic Czech goulash simmering away in hearty portions, to the melt-in-your-mouth traditional pastry, it’s all deliciousness wrapped in a fairytale atmosphere. It truly does make the experience feel even more magical!
The best part of my adventures? All the lovely pink tutu-wearing friends I've made along the way! You see, the joy of wearing a tutu, especially in a beautiful city like Prague, is infectious. Wherever I go, my pink tutu brings smiles, and that’s something I truly love. Every glance, every conversation, is a chance to spread the pink-tutu-love, one spin at a time.
Pink-Tutu InspirationYou know, one of the things I love most about ballet is its capacity for story. Prague itself is a beautiful ballet story, and I'm obsessed with seeing the world through my pink tutu. I mean, can you even imagine how magnificent a grand finale would be if a ballerina, adorned in the most stunning pink tutu, spun gracefully across the Charles Bridge, with the Prague skyline as her backdrop? It's like a dream come true!
For those of you dreaming of exploring a beautiful city steeped in culture, with a side of pink tutu magic, Prague needs to be on your bucket list! So, I’m packing my pink tutu, my travel essentials, and some extra smiles (you can never have too many!) I'm heading back to Derbyshire, but I know Prague will be calling me back for more twirls and discoveries soon. Until then, remember: life’s too short not to dance with a pink tutu!
PS: Keep those ballet dreams coming! And don’t forget to share your pink tutu moments on Instagram using #PinkTutuPrague!
Until next week, my dears!
