Hello my darling readers! Emma here, and today, as you can probably tell by the title, we're heading to Prague. Oh, the magic of Europe, it always feels so romantic. And don't even get me started on the beauty of the Czech Republic. My suitcase is absolutely bursting with pink tutus - this city has some fantastic vintage boutiques that I just had to get myself into, I'm expecting some killer finds. Plus, with the iconic Charles Bridge in the background, every Instagram picture is practically guaranteed to be Insta-worthy.
Let's be real, you lovely people know my love for tutus runs deep, deeper than the moat surrounding Prague Castle itself, so it's no surprise I'm absolutely thrilled to be here in the middle of "Pink Tutu Prague"!
Speaking of tutus, did you know they have an incredible ballet history here in Prague? This city is a true mecca for classical ballet - imagine twirling and pirouetting under crystal chandeliers in an unbelievably beautiful theatre, just like a ballerina in the days of yore. We're talking history folks, history! Did I tell you I also had to try out a few Prague ballet classes? Oh my, it was lovely, you should've seen my pink tutu twirling across the wooden floors of the studios here. They had some beautiful antique ballet slippers that were perfect for some twirls, all of them adorned with delicate, hand-stitched embellishments that felt incredibly delicate, almost like a whisper against my skin. And they said I looked elegant! What more could a ballerina girl ask for?
But wait, it gets better. On September 22nd, Prague is absolutely going to explode with ballet performances! Pink Tutu Prague is not just a hashtag; it's a festival, an event. This weekend is the city's grandest celebration of the ballet, all around the centre of town - performances in theatres, dancing on the streets, ballet in every imaginable form! There's a Pink Tutu Street Party with all kinds of pink frills and amazing dancing and some beautiful new tutus from one of my favourite ballet-themed vintage shops on Old Town Square.
And yes, it’s all thanks to a magnificent team of ballet aficionados and volunteers (and a very big pink tutu), who’ve come together to make this extraordinary event possible. I must say, Prague, you truly know how to throw a party.
As I travel from one enchanting performance to the next, I am sure to discover some exquisite hidden gems, but right now, my lovelies, you have to believe me, the real magic here is about the experience. You see the streets, the smiles, the joyful excitement, the passion for ballet radiating from the performers in every corner of the city, and the delight that everyone has watching it. You can see this city really loves its ballet! I just can't stop beaming at how everyone here embraces it. I think that is just one reason I’ve decided to extend my stay for an extra couple of days.
But before I talk about my wonderful shopping trip at one of Prague’s iconic department stores – oh, did I mention the gorgeous ballet-themed jewellery I snagged? - let’s go back to the train ride!
I arrived by train, of course, there is no other way to travel. And I am absolutely obsessed with European trains. I’m so proud that I’ve brought back my love of train travel to the UK, as you know from my Derbyshire adventures. Just imagine, my fellow tutus lovers: rolling green hills blurring into a dreamy panorama as my pink tutu skirt billows in the gentle breeze. Honestly, train journeys are always a delightful part of my travels! The rhythm of the wheels against the track and the rhythmic rocking motion is somehow completely soothing for a ballerina at heart, don’t you agree?
But you won't see me traveling on just any old train. No, no, darling readers, I travelled in style with the help of the good folk at [INSERT SPONSOR FOR BALLET-RELATED TRAIN TRIP] . That's right - this whole journey has been beautifully funded through some magical ballet performances back home!
Oh my darling readers, there is such an enchanting energy to Prague, a little like one of my favourite ballerina’s, Anna Pavlova, you can’t help but want to whirl around the streets in your best tutu, a pink one of course.
I also went on the most amazing horseback riding adventure near Prague. I must admit I was absolutely besotted with the white mare named Moonbeam, she looked so magical as she pranced and frolicked through the sunlit meadows, it reminded me so much of a beautiful ballet swan lake performance, don’t you think? It felt so dreamy, you know, I thought for a moment I was in a real-life storybook and my life was a beautiful fairytale… maybe I'll just grab that pretty pink tutu I brought with me and join the lovely folk at the pink Tutu Street party before it gets any darker!
Speaking of dancing… My friends, if there’s anything this ballerina loves, it’s fashion. So when you’re in a city like Prague, that boasts the perfect blend of fashion, art, and history, you just know it’s going to be a dazzling affair! I simply couldn't resist dipping into some of the shops for a bit of shopping.
I’ve found some gorgeous, sparkling items for my blog wardrobe, and a special pink tutu with whimsical, feather trims - I couldn't leave this place without some sparkly treats for my lovely readers! Oh, did I mention I got myself some amazing pink ballet slippers? All this fantastic fun is certainly working up my appetite so I am off to find some amazing Prague pastries. Did I tell you how much I love their beautiful bakery smells and all the traditional pastries and coffee shops, I wonder how they manage to make the cinnamon buns smell so delicious!
Oh my darling readers, Prague is a true ballet heaven, filled with such sparkling energy, incredible history, delicious cuisine and fantastic ballet performances that make a ballerina’s heart beat fast, especially with such a lovely pink tutu in tow. You simply must put it on your list to visit.
Until next Wednesday my lovelies! Remember to embrace your pink tutu, spread a bit of joy and get ready for more Prague tales coming next week!
