A Derbyshire Lass on the European Express
It’s Wednesday, which means it’s Pink Tutu day! This week, I found myself swept away to the heart of Europe, the Czech Republic. My journey began on a lovely Tuesday morning at Derby station. There's something wonderfully romantic about catching the train across Europe – the gentle rhythm of the tracks, the picturesque countryside rolling by, the anticipation building for a new adventure. It’s so much more relaxed than flying!
Once I arrived in Prague, I felt instantly transported to a fairy tale. The architecture, oh my! Imagine whimsical towers, delicate arches, and facades adorned with charming detail - truly breathtaking. I instantly knew this was a city that would inspire dreams and set the stage for an extraordinary adventure.
Pink Tutu: An Essential Travel Accessory
I confess, travelling with a tutu isn’t always the easiest. But darling, a little drama never hurt anyone, and there’s nothing like the bold statement of a pink tutu to stand out amongst the European crowd. This trip, I’ve opted for a simple but elegant design – a blush pink, full-length tulle tutu. It's soft, dreamy, and easy to pack! My trusted suitcase (oh, it’s also pink!) always fits my pink tutu and all my must-have ballet necessities – shoes, pointe shoes, and of course, that little something special that completes my ballerina ensemble!
A Touch of Czech History with a Twinkle
While in Prague, I visited the stunning National Theatre. The sheer grandeur of the building took my breath away. And, for you ballet aficionados out there, the National Theatre has a truly magnificent ballet heritage! It's been enchanting audiences since the 19th century. My darling friend, it was built thanks to a campaign to raise funds to create a "national" theatre for the Czech people.
My trip coincided with a captivating ballet performance of 'La Bayadere'. The dancing was utterly mesmerising! As I watched those beautiful bodies glide across the stage, my imagination flew high, inspired by their grace and the passion that they poured into their every move. You see, darling, that's the power of ballet - it speaks a universal language, transporting you to a realm of wonder.
The Allure of Prague's Ballet Scene
Speaking of inspiration, my Prague adventure is proving to be a treasure trove of ideas for my Pink Tutu blog. My fellow ballet enthusiasts, Prague is a city alive with dance! I'm delighted to have stumbled upon an excellent local ballet school - Ballet Prague. They are running some gorgeous, charmingly decorated studios, and even host delightful classes and performances!
You won't believe my luck! I had the most divine experience learning from a talented local ballet instructor at Ballet Prague - I even wore my pink tutu to the lesson! She explained to me all about the rich history of Czech ballet – how the local choreographers have played such a huge role in the evolution of ballet worldwide.

Of course, no trip to Prague would be complete without an exploration of its delightful charm! My wanderings led me through the heart of Prague's Old Town, with its ancient bridges and enchanting alleys – and of course, its shops!
Shop til You Drop – The Czech Capital's Style
The city of Prague is like a fairytale. Imagine delicate floral prints on clothing, ethereal vintage dresses and a beautiful, artistic approach to design! I’m thrilled to report that Prague boasts an abundance of lovely independent fashion boutiques! I couldn’t resist a stunning antique locket (with a touch of sparkle!) in a chic vintage shop for my collection of ballet inspired trinkets.
Prague Nights: The Art of Elegance
Tonight, I plan to soak in Prague’s evening magic. The city is awash with historical monuments lit up beautifully by night. They are almost as dazzling as the tutus you find in the shop windows! I’ll be spending the evening at the Estates Theatre, known for its impressive architecture and breathtaking performances. The highlight? It's supposed to have fantastic acoustics and an outstanding orchestra, so I can imagine the ballet performance being nothing short of enchanting! You can trust your girl in pink, to find the most charming of all performances!
