I've been yearning to visit Prague for ages, ever since I fell in love with the city's graceful architecture, fairytale castles, and of course, the magical ballet scene. And wouldn't you know it, my dear friends, Prague lived up to every bit of the hype!
A Train Ride to Prague: A Dreamy Journey
My journey to Prague was, as usual, an absolute dream. A first-class train ticket from Derbyshire - the birthplace of all things ballet in my world! - ensured a comfortable and relaxing ride. The countryside sped past, painted in all shades of green, brown, and yellow. It's funny how these long train journeys inspire some of my best ideas for tutus! It's all about observing the textures, the patterns, the movement... the world is just begging to be stitched into a beautiful dance costume!
Speaking of which, I couldn't resist packing my favourite pale pink tulle tutu, perfect for a waltz down Prague's charming cobblestone streets. It felt like I was a princess straight out of a storybook. Every bridge, every clock tower, every hidden courtyard felt like a scene waiting to be danced through.
A Peek into Prague's Ballet Soul
This week, I was especially excited for my visit to the magical National Theatre. Oh, what a treat it was to catch a glimpse of the Nutcracker, my favourite Christmas ballet! Even though we're well past Christmas, the story still filled the air with enchantment. The ballerinas, graceful and elegant in their white tutus, were breathtaking! They reminded me of those porcelain dolls we all had as little girls - but, well, you know, they can actually dance!
My pink tutu felt a bit out of place among the grand traditional costumes of the Nutcracker, but that's okay! It's all about embracing my own personal style, right? To finish my whirlwind adventure, I had to visit a traditional Prague market. And, oh my, darling, the fabric there! Velvet, satin, lace... all in those vibrant hues that Prague is famous for.
