Hello darlings!
It's Emma here, your pink-tutu-clad guide to all things fashionable, fun and fabulous!
I’m just settling into my gorgeous hotel room in Prague – all lace and chandeliers – and feeling so inspired after a fabulous train journey. I love the train! It’s such a romantic and peaceful way to travel – you can put your head against the window and just dream.
This week, it was a glorious journey across the English countryside, then through the tunnel to the continent and onto the grand European rail network, right here in Prague!
Now, let’s get down to business. The real reason I’m here in this magical city – and, let’s be honest, the only reason I would ever leave my beloved Derbyshire, England, is to see a magnificent ballet performance! Tonight, I’m attending the prestigious Prague National Theatre’s production of “La Bayadère,” and I simply can’t wait to see it.
This is one of the big events of the whole month! The theatre’s magnificent Art Nouveau building itself is breathtakingly beautiful and was once considered one of the most important examples of Czech Art Nouveau architecture. The theatre even has a fabulous history - it was destroyed by a fire in 1881 and built in the grand neo-Renaissance style in 1883 by a Viennese architect who combined this with a distinctive and elegant Czech design flair! I've always wanted to see Prague, with its ancient history and cobbled streets, and now my ballet-filled dreams have brought me here!
#PinkTutuTravels: Fashion on the Rails
Of course, any true fashionista always makes a statement, even when travelling. It's all about finding the perfect blend of comfort and chic. For this train trip, I chose a flowing pink tulle skirt (naturally!), layered over a comfy black jersey top. A touch of glittery sparkle from a pink diamante scarf, a comfy black knit cardigan and, naturally, a gorgeous vintage pink bowler hat and some pretty rose-coloured sunglasses. And I added a touch of glam with my delicate chain handbag, also pink! Because let’s be honest, there's never a bad time to wear pink! I always say: ‘Let your pink tutu shine, wherever you may be!’
The other passengers on the train definitely took notice. A couple of gentlemen even gave me compliments! Apparently, my pink tutu travel style was a hit! The other lady travellers loved the scarf too and kept asking about the bag. Of course, I always have spare time to give fashion tips – after all, we girls have to stick together! I made sure I’d prepared by including a little travel version of my essential beauty essentials - pink lipsticks, eyeshadow palettes and pink-toned blushers - so we could all be radiant on arrival!
There’s nothing quite like a trip in a comfy carriage to really inspire the imagination and I find it incredibly exciting! I actually wrote this whole blog post while watching the countryside and the railway towns go by! This whole train experience really was magical and put me in the right mood for a night at the theatre!
Ballet Beginnings: Discovering “La Bayadère”
The “La Bayadère” ballet, with its enchanting story of forbidden love, devotion and sacrifice, is one of my absolute favourites! The dramatic plot revolves around the temple dancer, Nikiya, who is tragically destined for a doomed romance.
I always find ballet so moving and, honestly, who doesn’t love a love story, even a tragic one? When the love story is set to gorgeous music and brought to life through amazing choreography and beautiful dancers in fabulous costumes, you’ve got a winner! The “La Bayadère” ballet tells the story of two rivals who both love Nikiya, one from her own temple, and the other the Indian prince Solor, but both these rivals bring a dark and dangerous turn to this classic love story! It’s a perfect balance of emotion and spectacle!
Before I see the show this evening, I want to delve into the ballet’s history and discover its background! I actually adore delving into the world of ballet, not just the performance, but the history of how it developed and the famous dancers who took centre stage on the world’s greatest ballet stages! “La Bayadère” was created in 1877 at the Imperial Ballet in Saint Petersburg. Can you imagine that?! This classic ballet has a huge history, having gone through several evolutions over the years – and has inspired so many people around the world to be fans! That is something that fascinates me!
And that is not all, darlings! To truly feel the essence of ballet history, you have to go to the source! So today, I’m planning on visiting the Czech National Theatre Museum – what an exciting plan, right?! I’ll be updating my blog on what I discover! Maybe it will even inspire me for a brand new Pink Tutu look! I've already been browsing through vintage dance boutiques in Prague’s chic city centre and found a truly dazzling pink tulle scarf, with matching feather boa, and of course, there was no question about purchasing those. What could possibly be a better souvenir for a fashion-obsessed ballet dancer!
The Perfect Pink Tutu for a Magical Evening!
This evening, it’s going to be a pink-tutu extravaganza!
To see this magical production of "La Bayadère," I've been prepping my outfit for the grand night! I’m going with my go-to pink tulle skirt for the evening - and I think it might just be my new favourite! Its light pink shade just shimmers perfectly. And, to top it all off, I’ve chosen a white long-sleeved silk top and some elegant silver shoes, for an added touch of sophisticated sparkle. I’m going to pair it with some pearl-beaded jewelry for extra elegance, of course, I wouldn't be seen at the theatre without that extra sprinkle of sparkle! My vintage hat is my secret weapon and I think it makes the perfect finishing touch!
A Pink Tutu Fashion Adventure
You see, travelling for me isn't just about seeing the world and enjoying the journey, it's a pink-tutu adventure. My mission is simple – inspire everyone to wear their own unique style with confidence. Every step of this trip will involve me shopping, of course, discovering new trends, sharing tips and finding the perfect pink tutu outfit for each of the city’s stylish spots! And of course, nothing makes my journey more exciting than the amazing ballet performance in the city's historic theatre.
