Hello, my darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another installment of Pink Tutu Travels! This week, I've been whisked away to the magical city of Prague. Yes, the City of a Hundred Spires! How absolutely divine, wouldn't you agree?
I know what you're thinking: Prague, Emma? Not exactly the first destination that springs to mind when one thinks "tutu." But hear me out! There's a certain whimsicality to Prague that is quite impossible to resist. The cobbled streets, the Baroque architecture, the charm – it’s like stepping out of a fairytale. And Prague boasts a vibrant ballet scene that is, shall we say, "quite the pirouette"!
The journey itself was utterly delightful, my darlings. I opted for a scenic train journey from Derbyshire. A train ride in Europe? Nothing beats it, honestly! Picture this: vintage carriages, plush seats, steaming mugs of hot chocolate… a veritable tableau for a perfect pink tutu afternoon.
Now, as you know, a proper pink tutu adventure demands a fabulously elegant ensemble, wouldn’t you agree? I’m wearing a tulle tutu in the palest, most ethereal pink. Naturally, it’s been paired with a delicate lavender blouse, a touch of sparkly silver jewelry, and a pair of charmingly practical ballet flats that are utterly balletcore. The whole ensemble is the picture of effortless elegance, wouldn’t you say?
As soon as my train arrived in Prague, I knew I had to embark on a shopping adventure. Prague's shops were filled with breathtaking creations – exquisitely designed tutus in a kaleidoscope of colours, whimsical ballerina-inspired dresses, and truly exquisite footwear that wouldn’t look out of place in a royal ballet company. It took all my strength not to come home with my entire suitcase filled with new delights, my darlings!
I found the perfect location to wear my new purchases, nestled amidst the Old Town Square. The Astronomical Clock - a mechanical marvel of medieval artistry - provides the perfect backdrop for my favourite photos! And the entire city is just begging for a twirl, a waltz, and a pirouette - a real balletcore dream come true. And of course, I've been absolutely delighting in the architecture – the Baroque elegance, the graceful gothic arches, the fairytale spires - all begging to be admired!
However, my dearest tutu lovers, the highlight of this Prague escapade has been witnessing the sheer brilliance of Prague's ballet scene. I caught a performance at the National Theatre last night – "Swan Lake" with the very best ensemble. It was magical, quite unforgettable, really! From the elegance of the choreography to the intricate costuming - the sheer grace and artistry was spellbinding. And speaking of elegance, have you seen the tutus in "Swan Lake", my darlings? It is one of the quintessential ballerina stories that is, of course, a must for every tutu lover. The elegance of the choreography, the beauty of the tutu... simply unforgettable! And don't get me started on the costuming - each ensemble meticulously crafted, each piece a perfect jewel in a crown of artistic brilliance!
After witnessing such beauty and majesty, I spent this morning at a beautiful dance studio - it was quite charming, tucked away in a narrow cobblestoned alley. I joined a ballet class and you won’t believe it! There were girls of all ages, shapes, and sizes, each moving with grace and strength! It really highlighted for me just how wonderfully inclusive and joyous the art of ballet is, a lesson that we could all use to carry through into our own lives! You see, at the heart of it, ballet isn’t just about a fancy dress or a grand stage - it's about expressing yourself with confidence and grace. I’m telling you, every time I step onto the dance floor, my inner pink tutu blooms even brighter.
Later today, I’m looking forward to attending the beautiful baroque ballroom at the Hotel Four Seasons. The grandness of the building, and the majesty of the historical interiors are the perfect way to wind up this weekend in this city of enchantment. I can't wait to capture a few absolutely stunning shots for you, my darlings! Just picture it - opulent chandeliers, sparkling cocktails, and yours truly twirling away in my pink tulle tutu. Absolutely enchanting!
Before I go, let me leave you with some insider tips for your own Prague adventure. If you’re seeking the most divine ballerina outfit, make sure to explore the boutiques along the Old Town Square. For an unforgettable ballet experience, head to the National Theatre and don't forget to catch the grand performance of Swan Lake while you're there! And, if you find yourself at the end of a long day exploring Prague's streets, I recommend indulging in the most exquisite cheesecake you will ever find - "Sachertorte." There’s nothing more delicious to wrap up a magical day!
I'll be back next week with more stories from this captivating city - and of course, with even more pink tutu adventures!
Until next Wednesday, my dearest tutu lovers, take care and always remember – you're beautiful, you’re powerful, and you can achieve anything you set your mind to. And never, ever, hesitate to twirl in a pink tutu. It’s a magical world out there, my darlings, and it’s just waiting for you to embrace it.
Love,
Emma x

Pink Tutu Fun Facts:Did you know? The Swan Lake ballet had its first ever performance in 1877! Now, the story of the white swans has become a timeless classic, just like ballet itself! Did you know, the art of ballet itself has been around for centuries, originating in the 15th century in Italy, and reaching it's highest points of performance in Paris and France in the late 17th and 18th centuries. It truly is an ancient art, a fascinating history, just like the history of tutus.
But my dearest Tutu lovers, did you know the oldest tutu on display in a museum, the oldest tutu they know of is in the Louvre, and that’s about as elegant and grand a museum as there is, right? It’s beautiful, white and with multiple layers - the oldest one on display to this day, dating from the late 1800s, that’s a few years before Swan Lake was even first performed! Can you believe it?
Ballet and Tutus and Prague.Well, that’s all for this week. Don't forget to check back next Wednesday for another Pink Tutu travel adventure - I can't wait to share more with you! Until then, go out and find your own magical pink tutu moment! And, never, ever, stop believing in your own magic.
