Hello, lovelies! It's Wednesday again, and you know what that means! Time for a new Pink Tutu blog post, straight from the cobbled streets of Prague!
My pink-loving heart is bursting with excitement this week. As I'm writing this, I'm practically bouncing on my toes - because, my darling dears, Prague has absolutely switched on my inner ballerina!
Remember last week's post? How I confessed my undying love for travelling by train? Well, imagine my joy when I stepped off the Eurostar in Paris and boarded a plush, pink-hued compartment on a train to Prague. Yes, I’m not even kidding, it was pink! All the plush velvet seats were in my favourite shade – the palest blush imaginable. It was like being whisked away in a fairytale on wheels.
Prague, I’m just going to say it, is the most beautiful, fairytale-like city I’ve ever seen! You'd think I'd been transported straight to the pages of a picture book - with the vibrant, terracotta rooftops clustered against the bright, blue sky and historic churches poking up like gingerbread towers, fairy lights winking across the golden evening, and a sweet aroma of cinnamon and grilled sausages mingling in the air. Just perfect for a Pink Tutu Princess.
And, guess what? I found myself in love with the cobbled streets almost as much as I adore the stage. My pink tutu, The Strawberry Swirl – my latest creation, you know – was the talk of Prague. From the elegant cafes, where I had dainty finger sandwiches and cups of steaming cocoa, to the sprawling marketplace with its tempting array of glistening cheeses, the vendors practically bowed before my sparkly pink tulle. I just think they understood my love of ballet as much as they did their wares.
Now, let's dive straight into the real reason for my journey – The National Theatre! You all know how much I love a ballet show, and I just couldn't miss the incredible season that they are showcasing in Prague.
As I sashayed down those breathtaking marble steps of the National Theatre, with Prague Castle shining across the river in the distance, I almost couldn't believe my luck!
This weekend is especially thrilling for me. My favorite Russian choreographer, The Beloved - he was in our dance class, way back when - has returned with an innovative take on Swan Lake. He's a master of the expressive, sweeping movements - just the way I love them! He combines graceful lines with sharp bursts of athleticism that really make those swans fly off the stage. It's the type of dance that pulls you right into its emotional world.
But the best part, lovelies? Well, The Beloved had his premiere last night, and I got to see it from the front row of the theatre’s royal box! It was like being a princess - all satin cushions and golden tassels.
Oh, and the dress? It’s a must-share moment! You know I love fashion, so imagine my joy when my lovely tailor, Miss Lily, came through with an incredible dress. The colours were like an explosion of my favourite pink and peach hues, shimmering with beads that mimicked the swans' feathers. It practically sparkled with every step! You bet your bottom dollar I stood out - I'm a true Pink Tutu Princess, remember?
Anyway, after the performance, there was an after-party at the famous Grand Cafe in Prague. As usual, the music was superb! A dreamy jazz band kept the mood sparkling and upbeat. And, you know me, I love dancing, even after a Swan Lake performance! So, naturally, I had to hit the floor - a real whirlwind in my dress, showing off my own ballet moves.
Prague is overflowing with history, beauty, and art, but I can't help thinking how much I also adore its charm, its bohemian spirit. The cafe-lined streets are bursting with characters – students, artists, and writers - just like a scene straight out of a ballet story. I can't wait to soak in more of the city's magic.
Speaking of magic, remember that special ballet event in Swan Lake, where the swans fly to the highest note? Well, it got me thinking, "If a ballet performance is about finding your 'highest note', what's mine?"
I love finding those notes of beauty, that sprinkle of fairytale, everywhere I go! Maybe it's my new pink tutu, The Prague Dreamscape, with its soft tulle layers and glittering stars. It's already bringing some magical sparkle to my wardrobe!
And guess what? I even found an amazing, pink-hued boutique hidden away on a backstreet near the Charles Bridge where I scored a pair of vintage pink ballet shoes! Let’s just say that they were a real bargain and they will look incredible with the rest of my Prague Dreamscape tutu collection.
I must admit, I'm tempted to explore more of the charming towns surrounding Prague. After all, who doesn't want to discover a touch of fairytale magic? And of course, who doesn’t like a pony ride to discover it all?!
So, until next week, darling dears, always keep those dreams alive and keep shining – just like the swans of Prague!
Love and Tutus, Emma x
