Hello, my darling tutu-loving friends! Emma here, straight from the cobbled streets of Prague, and let me tell you, it’s utterly divine!
The air here is crisp, filled with the scent of warm bread and brewing coffee, and the buildings are positively fairytale-esque, all whimsical gables and terracotta roofs. Prague really does feel like stepping straight into a storybook – and you just know that storybook features a lot of pink tutus, wouldn't you agree? ?
Now, as a fellow ballet-mad soul, you know how much I love to immerse myself in the culture of a place. And Prague, with its rich artistic history, has been an absolute dream. I've been twirling my way through art galleries, marvelling at the masterpieces of the Old Masters, and swooning over the delicate artistry of the National Theatre. It's just brimming with inspiration!
Speaking of the National Theatre, did you know that Prague has a strong connection to ballet history? In the 19th century, the theatre was the heart of European ballet, with legendary dancers like Fanny Cerrito and Carlotta Grisi gracing its stage. Can you imagine the elegance, the grace, the sheer magic of seeing those pioneering ballerinas pirouette on that very same stage?
Honestly, it makes me want to don my most fabulous pink tutu and take a twirl myself! Thankfully, my travel-tutu (it's got pockets for my essential travel snacks - I’m not one to leave home without a proper ballet-fueling feast) is perfectly in sync with Prague’s vintage charm. Every time I catch sight of my pink tutu reflection in the ornate windows of the old town, I swear I hear a symphony of heavenly harp music!
Speaking of music, oh, the music! Last night I found a tiny little concert hall tucked away in the back streets, hidden from the bustle of the main squares. Inside, there was an enchanting string quartet performing some of the most beautiful classical music I’ve ever heard. The atmosphere was electric, full of passion and reverence, and I swear, I could have danced right onto the stage with them. It really did feel like a ballet in its own right!
You can't talk about Prague without mentioning the breathtaking views. I have climbed countless hills and cobbled paths, seeking out the perfect spots for breathtaking panoramas. The golden light of dawn casting a warm glow over the city's skyline… the sparkling water of the Vltava river reflecting the sun… these moments just take your breath away! They also give me such great inspiration for my tutu outfit ideas – the colours of the sunrise, the shimmer of the water, it all plays out like a stunning, living ballet performance.
Of course, my time in Prague hasn’t been just about culture and historical moments, it’s also been a delightful experience for the ultimate ballerina – a fashionista ballerina! My trusty tutu backpack (I always carry a backup in case the need for a sudden ballet performance arises, you know) is stuffed to the brim with treasures from Prague’s beautiful boutiques and markets.
Let me tell you, my darlings, Prague's vintage fashion scene is absolutely fantastic! There are quirky boutiques bursting with designer treasures, and hidden markets crammed full of stunning handcrafted lace and delicate embroidery. I’ve already found a beautiful pearl necklace, a shimmering silver headband, and a lace-edged, silk scarf with the most beautiful, soft pink hue – perfect for a romantic twirl through Prague's fairy-tale streets!
My dearest tutu-wearers, if you haven’t visited Prague, add it to your travel list right away! It's an enchanting city with a soul that perfectly resonates with every tutu-lover's heart. I know you'll love it! And just a little insider tip: look out for the horse-drawn carriages - I couldn’t resist a ride! And, just to top it off, I'm off to see the ‘Ballet Fantastique' at the National Theatre tonight – a spectacle I’m not going to miss! (Think colourful tutus, dazzling lights, and maybe even some pink ones ?)
So, until next week, my tutu-wearing cherubs, be sure to stay fabulous and, of course, always wear pink!
See you next Wednesday!
Your Emma xx
