Bonjour, my darlings! It’s Wednesday again, which means it's time for another instalment of my Pink Tutu Prague adventures! I’m back in the gorgeous city of a hundred spires, and let me tell you, it’s like a fairytale come to life, especially for a tutu-loving, pink-obsessed ballet-mad gal like myself!
My journey here was a delightful one, just like all my adventures. I decided to try something new and travelled from Derbyshire, where I’m originally from, to Prague via train and, well, pony. Yes, you read that right, a pony! It wasn't a speedy option, but who needs speed when you can be gliding along through the countryside, a delightful pink tutu fluttering in the wind, feeling like I was starring in my own fairytale! My darling horse, whom I’ve named "Twirl," is quite a sight to behold with his shimmering pink bridle.
Why Prague? Well, you may have guessed it, but on the 25th October, it’s the opening night for a brand-new ballet show at the majestic Prague National Theatre, and I simply cannot miss it! But before I gush about the ballet, let’s delve into some of the wonders of Prague that I’ve been enjoying this week, shall we?
Tutu time, Prague style! You might be surprised to hear this, but Prague has some truly wonderful ballet shops! I’ve been going from shop to shop, my eyes popping like a box of ballet slippers! From the grand Palais Lucerna, right to the bohemian cobbled streets of Prague’s Old Town, I’ve been finding everything my ballerina heart desires - from classic tutus and sparkling leotards to the most exquisite dance accessories imaginable.
Oh, the colours! Prague is such a visual feast for a fashion lover. From the jewel-toned architecture to the street art that covers everything from shop doors to public toilets (though the public ones are a little too colourful for a lady in pink), it's impossible to take a boring photo!
But, let’s talk about fashion! I must tell you, I’ve been loving the vibe in Prague. The ladies here have a flair for the dramatic - think structured silhouettes, bold prints, and lots and lots of fabulous accessories. And then there are the men - oh my darling men! With their velvet jackets and tailored trousers, Prague's dapper men make a pink-tutu-loving girl like myself melt!
And what about ballet? Well, it's impossible to speak about Prague without mentioning its breathtaking ballet scene! As for this weekend’s show, the Pink Tutu senses are tingling with excitement. I can’t tell you all the details - no spoilers allowed! - but it’s a brand new production, with a story that has everyone talking, so it's going to be fabulous.
But Prague is more than just ballet and beautiful outfits!
The first thing I noticed about Prague was its breathtaking beauty. From the iconic Prague Castle that sits on the hill overlooking the city, to the charming Charles Bridge with its statues and street performers, everything about this city whispers fairytale!
I’ve been walking along the river Vltava, watching the swans glide by, soaking in the historic beauty of this extraordinary city, and exploring its captivating old squares. The energy here is infectious, and the architecture is simply exquisite!
Prague: a taste bud tango!
One of the most enchanting things about Prague, besides the tutu shops of course, is its delicious food scene. You know I love a little afternoon tea, and here in Prague, the selection of tea rooms and cafes is a delight for my soul and stomach!
Let’s not forget the amazing food! I’ve indulged in some truly remarkable cuisine, from succulent roasted pork, melt-in-your-mouth goulash, to delectable dumplings - just to name a few.
Don’t forget about shopping!
While you’re in Prague, remember, it’s impossible to leave without visiting the Pink Tutu favourite spots: the charming vintage boutiques filled with one-of-a-kind finds, the trendy shops overflowing with Bohemian treasures, and the quirky markets where I’ve been finding hidden gems.
I must admit, a pink-tutu-loving girl like myself has been going slightly crazy with all the delightful things Prague has to offer. Just a teensy bit of a shopping spree in some of those glorious antique shops, just to add a little vintage touch to my ballet wardrobe!
Prague, a ballerina's paradise:
But here's the best bit - my darlings: Prague is a haven for tutu enthusiasts! Every corner whispers a tale of a ballet tradition dating back to the 18th century, and this love for dance is apparent at every turn.
Oh, and let’s not forget the breathtaking ballet performance at the end of the month. I can already imagine myself in the audience, twirling with glee in my own gorgeous tutu, my heart soaring as I witness the elegance and grace of the ballet.
This city has captured my heart completely, my darlings! Stay tuned for my next blog post - I’m already planning my next adventure in this city of a hundred spires!
Love and tutus,
Emma
