Prague - The City of a Thousand Spires and My Pink Tutu (Blog Post #1749)

Well hello, darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-clad, ballet-obsessed blogger, Emma, writing to you live from the most beautiful, fairytale-like city in the world...Prague!

Yes, I'm finally here in this enchanting place. As you know, I simply can't resist a city that screams "romance" and "cultural delights", and Prague delivers on both accounts! This city has got it all: beautiful architecture, cobbled streets, enchanting bridges, charming cafes, and the most fabulous fashion I've seen outside of Milan. I could just spend weeks here, and trust me, that's exactly what I plan to do!

And what better way to kick off this week than with a show-stopping, #PinkTutuPrague ballet experience?

A Ballerina's Delight: Pink Tutus in Prague

As a seasoned ballet aficionado, you know how important it is to see world-class performances in stunning settings. So naturally, I was utterly thrilled to see The Nutcracker at the National Theatre Prague tonight. You'll find this iconic ballet performance taking place every December, offering a beautiful spectacle for families and theatre-lovers alike!

But this was no ordinary Nutcracker. This was The Nutcracker Prague Edition! I just adore it when companies bring a fresh perspective to classic performances! It was absolutely breathtaking - the costumes were exquisite, the choreography was spellbinding, and the music…oh my, the music! It was pure magic.

The National Theatre itself was a dream, like stepping into a gilded cage. All grand columns, twinkling chandeliers, and enough velvet to fill a dozen ballrooms. It felt as if I'd walked onto a stage myself!

Oh, and can we talk about the tutus?! Those exquisite fluffy things, every one a masterpiece! Some with delicate beading, others with sparkling sequins. I was practically giddy! It's moments like these when I'm reminded of how deeply ballet is ingrained in my soul. It's pure art, pure elegance, pure enchantment, and a touch of the divine all rolled into one!

Speaking of enchantment, the stage scenery, depicting the charming Christmas Eve celebration in a snowy landscape and then transforming to a whimsical, fairytale-esque land of dancing toys and snowflakes, simply transported me!

I think the most impressive scene was the snowstorm sequence with those gorgeous dancing ballerinas who looked like snowflakes come to life - a veritable ballet of shimmering, ethereal figures! It was both enchanting and captivating, making my own tutu-clad dreams shimmer brighter.

As I walked back through the chilly December night, the city lights illuminating Prague's beautiful architecture, I couldn't stop myself from twirling in the cobbled streets - I'd seen such enchanting beauty and it felt magical, my heart was full! There's something about Prague, a unique enchantment, it feels like stepping into a picture book - that is how inspiring this beautiful city is!

Shopping, Shopping, Shopping!

Naturally, no visit to Prague would be complete without indulging in a bit of retail therapy, wouldn't you agree?

My day started with a visit to Celetná Street, one of Prague's most charming shopping streets - I love the charming, independent shops filled with handcrafted treasures and stunning, eclectic boutiques. Think artisanal jewelry, vintage clothing, handmade leather goods, unique porcelain, and quirky souvenirs – a paradise for any style-conscious traveller.

For my second shopping escapade, I journeyed to the elegant Na Příkopě street. The iconic Art Deco architecture just added to the glamorous atmosphere, while the high-end designer stores lured me with the promise of designer delights - Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Dior...oh my! The temptations were everywhere, especially the window displays which really did tempt me!

Now, while I adore a good luxury item or two, nothing beats finding hidden gems. So my third shopping destination had to be the Palladium Shopping Center, one of the city's largest, filled with everything from international high street stores and the hottest new designers, to local Czech brands and homegrown boutiques. You really can find absolutely everything there! It’s such a delightful mix of modern and traditional shopping.

After a spot of lunch (more about the divine food later!), I wandered into the magical Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměstí). I felt completely surrounded by history! Here I explored the narrow streets lined with centuries-old houses. You simply can't resist snapping a photo of the gorgeous astronomical clock or strolling over to the iconic Charles Bridge. It is a real photographer's delight with some spectacular backdrops.

I was completely in awe of this fairytale cityscape, but I confess I was most charmed by the abundance of unique shops selling Bohemian crystal, folk crafts, and locally made clothing. I'm completely enamoured by Prague’s vibrant artistic heritage, the city breathes culture.

And that, dear readers, is what led me to my next stop: the Design Shop Prague, where I found a stunning selection of hand-crafted ceramics, designer clothes, furniture, and jewellery - a mix of Czech artisans and designers from around the world.

Honestly, it’s impossible not to be inspired here. Everywhere I go, I see something stunning and imaginative! There's an abundance of independent stores that really celebrate individuality.

Tutus in Prague: Tutus at Every Turn!

This being my Prague, #PinkTutuPrague, trip, naturally I couldn’t come here without a brand new tutu. I had the best time exploring Prague's dance scene and seeking out that special shop for the perfect tutu.

Imagine a quaint, candle-lit boutique, tucked away in a charming cobblestone alleyway, overflowing with every colour, every size, and every style of tutu imaginable! Well, that’s exactly where I ended up - the beautiful Tančící Květy Boutique. The moment I walked in, it was a whirlwind of colour!

I confess I was a little giddy as I gazed at every pink tutu imaginable – pastel pinks, fuchsia pinks, even vibrant pink! I knew I had to find something extraordinary for the final dance. The boutique staff helped me find the most gorgeous Barbie Pink Tulle Tutu, complete with sparkling diamantes and a delicate pink ribbon that tied into a perfect bow - a vision of pink-tutu perfection! It truly captures Prague's whimsical charm.

Later in the day, I had a great time exploring the ballet shops. Prague's dance scene is thriving! It's a world of endless possibilities, all wrapped in layers of shimmering tulle and velvet. The perfect setting for a pink tutu, wouldn’t you say?

A Celebration of Ballet: Dancing Through Prague

As a huge ballet aficionado, you'll find me seeking out every opportunity to celebrate dance. In fact, I've booked myself onto a delightful Ballet Workshop held in a gorgeous, grand hall that was once part of a palace - so elegant!

It felt so good to stretch my limbs and move to the rhythm of graceful movements in this breathtaking setting. Our workshop instructor, an ex-prima ballerina from the National Theatre Ballet Prague, had a very calming energy as she expertly guided us through a graceful warm-up and barre exercises. We learnt several simple but elegant sequences. It was a lovely opportunity to meet other ballet enthusiasts and practice in such a stunning location!

And, I have to say, the other ballerinas here were all amazing. They had such an infectious passion for dancing - it's what I love about Prague’s vibrant dance culture!

Food, Fashion, & My Favourite Pink Tutu

Let's be honest: no trip is complete without savouring some divine delicacies. You have to experience the vibrant cafes, traditional Czech cuisine, and delightful pastry shops.

As I enjoyed my delectable traditional Czech meal of roast pork, dumplings, and sauerkraut, it felt so grand to be sat in an historic, cosy pub. You can find them dotted around the city, full of charming atmosphere and filled with local patrons - always an amazing place to soak up the culture and taste real Czech hospitality! Of course, I couldn't resist indulging in a warm trdelník (a chimney cake deliciously filled with cream cheese!) as a sweet treat.

As for my fashion statement, what else can I wear to showcase Prague’s magical fairytale-like beauty except my stunning Barbie Pink Tulle Tutu!

I’ve paired it with a beautiful long cream-coloured velvet cloak, some gorgeous ivory lace gloves (oh so elegant!), and a pair of sparkly diamante heeled ballet shoes.

The stunning architecture of this fairytale city with the pastel tones and ornate detail, the charming little streets that lead to hidden jewels of fashion boutiques, the elegant high street stores, and of course the captivating dance scene.... all make me feel like I’m floating through a whimsical, dreamlike story!

It's the perfect setting for my #PinkTutuPrague adventure. And the tutu itself? It's everything I’d hoped for – a testament to Prague's stunning fashion and ballet traditions!

Don't forget, my darlings, I'm bringing you my Prague travel blog updates every Wednesday at www.pink-tutu.com . Stay tuned for the rest of my pink-tutu filled adventures. You can find me twirling through this captivating city's breathtaking architecture and magical streets.
