Bonjour from Prague, my fellow tutu enthusiasts! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another pink-tastic blog post, straight from the heart of Europe! This week, I've traded my trusty Derbyshire pony (he's been having a bit of a rest after the rigours of touring the Yorkshire Dales) for a romantic train journey to the magical city of Prague. It was love at first sight - cobbled streets, charming architecture, and an atmosphere that screams "ballet, ballet, ballet!"
This time, I'm here for a very special treat - the Pink Tutu Prague festival, celebrating all things tutu and ballet, culminating in a dazzling show at the magnificent National Theatre this Wednesday, December 27th.
The History of the Tutu: A Journey in Pink
But before we dive into the dazzling performance, let's talk about tutus. It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Prague blog post without a little ballet history, would it? The tutu's evolution has been a fascinating one! Back in the 18th century, ballerinas wore long, heavy skirts. But imagine trying to leap in those! Thankfully, fashion forward thinking took over, and gradually the skirt became shorter and shorter, paving the way for the classic tutu as we know it. Now, if you're a fan of tutus as much as I am, you know the sheer joy of swirling and pirouetting in a fluffy tutu!
Tutu Time!
Now, about my sartorial choices for Prague...I simply couldn't leave the pink at home! I've been sporting my new powder pink tulle tutu paired with a gorgeous vintage black velvet jacket for a touch of classic Parisian chic. The cherry on top? A pair of sparkling ruby-red shoes – perfect for dancing through the magical streets of Prague. Of course, no tutu-loving blogger could resist a trip to the beautifulOld Town Square. It’s brimming with traditional shops and cafes - a perfect excuse for a spot of tutu-themed souvenir hunting!
The Pink Tutu Prague Festival
This year's festival is jam-packed with exciting events, and I've got a full schedule, with the main event at the National Theatre being the big highlight. I’m particularly looking forward to the "Tutu Fashion Show" where local designers are showcasing their incredible tutu-inspired creations! I have my camera ready for some amazing #PinkTutuPrague Instagram posts - stay tuned, my loves!
My Love for Ballet and My Prague Adventure
Let's face it, there's no greater feeling than being swept away by a breathtaking ballet performance. Ballet has always been a huge part of my life - I’ve been taking ballet classes since I was little and performing on stage ever since! It's more than just a hobby - it's an escape, an expression, a passion! And that’s why I’m so excited about sharing the experience of Pink Tutu Prague with you.
I'm currently at the magical Café Montmartre. A gorgeous place with elegant chandeliers, red velvet booths, and some of the best Viennese-style hot chocolate you can find in Prague. (The fact that it's located in a historic, art nouveau building just makes it even better!) It's the perfect setting to people-watch and soak up the enchanting atmosphere of Prague.
I've been wandering the cobbled streets and charming cafes, absorbing all the sights and sounds of this magical city. This weekend, it's time for the highlight - the National Theatre ballet performance! I've snagged tickets to see Giselle - a timeless ballet masterpiece and a definite must-see.
The theatre itself is breathtaking. With its elaborate interior and magnificent chandeliers, the whole experience is something I will never forget!
Sharing my passion for ballet with you all is what drives me. Until next Wednesday, Keep your tutus spinning, your smiles bright and your dreams grand!
Yours in pink,
Emma
