Hello darlings! It’s Emma, your favourite pink-loving ballerina, writing to you live from the enchanting city of Prague! I’m in a state of complete and utter delight, a giddy whirlwind of pink tulle and Prague charm. This week's adventures have been filled with cobblestone streets, breathtaking architecture, and enough pink inspiration to make even the most jaded fashionista blush!
As you know, Wednesday is my dedicated day for a new post on www.pink-tutu.com, and this week's Prague blog is all about embracing the magic of the city in a whirl of pink. Let me take you on a tour, shall we?
From Derbyshire to Prague: A Train Ride in PinkNow, if you've been following my blog for a while, you know that travelling by train is my absolute favourite mode of transport. There's just something magical about being whisked away across the landscape, a sea of green passing by my window, a pink tutu in tow! I do believe it's the perfect way to set the mood for a journey into the heart of a new city.
I embarked on my Prague adventure with my trusty pink duffel bag packed with all my favourite ballerina essentials - enough pink tutus to dress every swan in the Bolshoi, a shimmering pink ballet bag for all my dance shoes and essentials, and a blush-coloured shawl, just in case the carriages got chilly. The journey itself was a dream! Imagine me, nestled amongst friendly locals, my pink tulle swirling as I settled into my seat, a smile wider than the Czech Republic itself.
Travel tip: When it comes to pink, always pack extra. It's the only way to truly embrace the spirit of a journey!
Prague: Where History and Fashion Waltz TogetherUpon arrival in Prague, my jaw dropped! It's like a fairytale stepped out of a picture book. Picture cobblestone streets lined with brightly painted buildings, elegant spires piercing the sky, and the unmistakable aroma of fresh coffee brewing. Honestly, my senses were overloaded! The city feels ancient and vibrant all at once, with a timeless charm that is just irresistible.
My first stop, of course, had to be the Old Town Square. The Astronomical Clock, an incredible marvel of medieval craftsmanship, was a mesmerizing spectacle, its dancing figures keeping time with the city's rhythm. The surrounding buildings, painted in pastel hues with intricate details, gave me serious vintage fashion inspiration. A pink tutu wouldn't feel out of place here, no! Imagine it, swirling beneath a vaulted archway, framed by ancient stories, just like something out of a timeless romance.
I couldn't resist indulging in a bit of retail therapy! Prague has a truly wonderful fashion scene, brimming with charming boutiques and artisan shops. I snagged a vintage pink shawl from a tiny shop hidden amongst the narrow lanes, and fell in love with the intricate embroidery. Honestly, it felt like a tiny piece of Prague's history tucked away in its folds.
Fashion tip: Embrace local colours and patterns when shopping! It's a unique way to weave the spirit of the city into your personal style.
The Magic of Prague BalletSpeaking of magic, my real highlight of the trip so far has been seeing the National Theatre Ballet performance. It was absolutely breathtaking! The sheer artistry and grace of the dancers transported me to another world. Their movements were like whispers of poetry, fluid and ethereal. And, the costume designer deserves a standing ovation - their use of colour and texture were truly masterful. Of course, it was nothing without the perfect tulle and chiffon! And don't even get me started on the ballerinas' perfect pink pointe shoes! I nearly gasped when they took their bow. Honestly, seeing ballet in Prague just elevated my love of the art form to a whole new level.
I managed to sneak into the costume shop backstage and discovered the most exquisite vintage ballet slippers, with intricate stitching and worn pink ribbons - all perfectly preserved! It felt like touching history and it was enough to send any ballet-loving girl into a blissful frenzy!
Dance Tip: Catch a local ballet performance whenever you travel. It's a glimpse into a city's cultural heart and soul, with its unique flair.
Finding Ballet Beauty in the Streets of PragueIt turns out that ballet magic doesn't just exist on stage! Prague itself seems to whisper tales of grace and elegance in every cobblestone street, every ancient building, every charming café. It's the effortless elegance of the architecture, the flowing rhythms of the Charles Bridge, and the effortless movements of locals as they navigate their beautiful city. I see a ballet story waiting to be told in every corner, a graceful movement waiting to unfold.
I even found a little ballet studio nestled away in the old town, tucked into a courtyard full of sunflowers! The smell of leather ballet shoes and the sounds of pliés filled the air - it was truly inspiring. The owner was incredibly welcoming, and she invited me to join a class later in the week. I couldn’t refuse!
Movement Tip: When you find yourself surrounded by beautiful surroundings, let your body respond with graceful movements. Turn everyday strolls into an expression of elegance, a celebration of life in motion!
