Wednesday was a whirlwind of excitement, with my arrival by train (first class, naturally, with a complimentary glass of champagne and a fluffy pink blanket - it's all about the little things!) and the immediate sense of "Bonjour, I'm in Europe!" The energy is buzzing!
Now, let's talk tutus! Did you know, darlings, that Prague boasts a rich ballet heritage dating back to the 16th century? It's a city steeped in graceful steps and elegant choreography. So, I couldn't resist exploring some of Prague's iconic ballet venues.
The National Theatre is truly a sight to behold, with its majestic architecture and history that dates back to the 19th century. It's been a cornerstone of Czech arts and culture for decades. I just love it when history, architecture and performance blend like a seamless arabesque! I just HAD to have a photo in front of it wearing my Pink Paradise tutu – a glorious swirl of tulle that, let’s be honest, was almost made for this stunning building! It was a perfect introduction to Prague's rich ballet heritage.
The National Theatre Ballet Company, one of the most renowned in Europe, delivers consistently stellar performances, attracting ballet lovers from around the world. Oh, to think, they have a wonderful ballet school and some gorgeous productions to see too. Don’t be fooled though, they do take their art very seriously!
And, just a little tip from a ballet-loving gal, darlings: If you want to feel the thrill of seeing world-class ballet, don't forget to snag your tickets for the "Nutcracker" performance on November 7th at the National Theatre! You might just see a tiny pink-tutu-clad ballet dancer in the audience (that’s me!)
Speaking of performances, darling! Remember my "Pink Ballerina Dreams" show in Prague? I danced with such vigour and flair – a swirling cloud of pink tulle in motion! The applause was phenomenal, and even the tiniest Czech children couldn’t stop beaming after I had finished my signature double pirouette – and of course the whole en pointe section in my sparkly, shimmering pink tutu - which for some unknown reason they loved. Between ballet shows, darlings, I'm finding the cutest shops with vintage lace and elegant gloves, and have discovered a local shop full of handcrafted tutu-like garments, a whole collection of beautiful tulle accessories. I couldn't resist snagging a delicate pink headband for myself – perfect for my evening of waltzing with a charming, handsome gentleman at a local café. Oh, we shared stories and whispered secrets. He was captivated by my pink ballerina magic, and even he wanted a photo in my "Pink Romance" tutu, although his look wasn't very 'pink ballerina dreams' was it?
But Prague is not just about grand ballets, darlings, it’s a place where the spirit of dance pulsates in the streets!
On Saturday afternoon, I wandered through the Old Town Square, and a talented street dancer caught my eye. I just had to have a photo with him.
