Well, hello there, my lovelies! It's Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-clad travel blogger, and guess what?! I'm in Prague! Oh, my dear friends, you simply must put this incredible city on your "to-see" list!
Prague has captured my heart in a way that few cities have. The cobbled streets, the majestic bridges, the stunning architecture… and of course, the rich cultural tapestry – Prague has it all! And trust me, dear reader, I've done my research.
As usual, I'm here to share all the delightful details of my trip, and today's focus, you guessed it, is ballet! Prague is bursting with ballet magic, from the stunning performances at the historic National Theatre to the inspiring classes offered at the world-renowned Prague Dance Conservatory.
Before we delve into the dance world, let me tell you about my journey! As you know, my beloved pony, Starlight, and I often embark on adventures together, but Prague was a bit far for even Starlight's legendary hooves! So, I boarded a lovely old-fashioned train in Derbyshire – picture plush velvet seats, clinking glasses, and that satisfying choo-choo sound that never fails to send a thrill up my spine.
Oh, I can't forget the journey, darling! From my stunning pink tutu outfit (which, naturally, had a fabulous Prague-inspired embellishment), to the delicious little tea cakes served on the train – it was just the perfect prelude to this glorious city.
And speaking of glorious, the minute I arrived in Prague, I was met by such beauty! The cobblestones beneath my pink ballet shoes were so charming, and the scent of fresh bread drifting from the local bakeries was enough to make my tummy rumble!
As you know, my motto is, "Pink Tutu For Everyone!" So, as soon as I set foot in the charming Old Town Square, I popped into a little shop called "Little Prague Stitches." Let me tell you, this little shop is a dream! The owner, a sweet little lady called Vera, makes the most incredible tutus in every colour under the sun! I treated myself to a new pink tulle tutu, with shimmering silver sparkles and delicate hand-sewn roses – a touch of Parisian flair for my Prague adventure!
Speaking of tutus, what a coincidence! I discovered that the ballet season at the National Theatre is currently showcasing a whimsical production of “The Sleeping Beauty,” with the most breathtaking costumes and intricate choreography. The grand ballroom scene! Oh, darling, I nearly swooned! The choreography was a stunning blend of grace and strength, the music played beautifully, and the tutus? They were absolutely stunning. Let me tell you, seeing such elegant designs and masterful technique just gave me goosebumps! I can't recommend a performance of this piece highly enough, so please put it on your “must-see” list!
But Prague isn't just about the ballet, although it certainly is the focus! I'm quite taken with the city's rich history, and I took a leisurely walk over the magnificent Charles Bridge. Just seeing this medieval landmark with its intricate statues is a breath-taking experience! Of course, I stopped for a photoshoot with my favourite pink tutu!
As the day rolled on, I had lunch in a cute café nestled amidst the medieval streets. Oh, the food! I couldn't resist a delightful mushroom and herb soup – a culinary journey in a bowl, as the Czechs would say! Of course, I treated myself to a slice of poppy seed cake, a local speciality. You know how much I love indulging in some delicious pastries!
With my belly full and heart content, I went to visit the beautiful Prague Castle, a sprawling complex of stunning buildings! There are museums, gardens, a cathedral – it really is something special. The whole complex is perched high above the city, giving you an incredible view of Prague's sprawling beauty. The views are simply breathtaking, dear reader! I felt a surge of happiness at this moment, seeing all of the city spread out before me. I just had to record the view with a quick Instagram snap in my new pink tutu! I added the caption, "Prague is my new happy place."
After this enchanting tour, it was time to head back to my lovely little boutique hotel in the Old Town. I stayed in a quaint little guesthouse with a beautiful courtyard and an overflowing flower pot. Just darling! The evening, dear reader, called for a bit of retail therapy, something I'm a little partial to! You know how much I adore a good shopping spree, especially when exploring new places! I walked through the narrow lanes of the Old Town, window-shopping until my eyes were nearly popping. So many tempting vintage finds!
The little boutique shops and hidden markets are overflowing with treasures – stunning lace collars, handmade scarves, antique jewelry… it was almost too much to handle! I had to keep telling myself to be strong.
You may know my secret passion, though – I'm rather obsessed with the history of tutus! The history of fashion is a fascination of mine, particularly the development of tutus. And, what's even more thrilling, the Prague National Theatre’s costume department has an absolutely divine display of historic tutus – with stories of their construction and the iconic ballet productions they've graced. Honestly, the fabric, the craftsmanship… I was in a wonderland!
Now, as for the ballet itself… well, it’s more than just pretty costumes! It’s an art form full of beauty, drama, and power! If you’ve never seen a ballet, then you are missing out. And there is no better place to start than Prague. It’s a real feast for the senses, not to mention, an absolute spectacle! There are also a plethora of ballet classes to experience. My favorite so far was held in a studio on a cobblestone street in Old Town, with beautiful wood floors and large, airy windows looking out on the rooftops of Prague. The teacher, a beautiful dancer with the kindest smile and twinkling eyes, even let me wear my pink tutu! The class was so invigorating, and afterward, I went back to my hotel in a completely blissful haze!
That night, feeling inspired by Prague's unique cultural offering, I donned my new sparkling pink tutu and went to see the local ballet troupe. Oh my! The performers were spectacular! They were a breathtaking combination of beauty and agility, showcasing captivating tales and pure artistry. There are certain things in this world that cannot be put into words. The energy, the elegance, the sheer passion. Ballet can capture all of this and make your heart soar, and here in Prague, the performances really left me spellbound. I even caught a glimpse of a pink tutu or two, so you never know!
Afterward, as a little celebration of my incredible day, I treated myself to a cup of steaming hot cocoa and watched the moonlight paint a silver glow over Prague’s majestic skyline – truly breathtaking!
Of course, the pink tutu must come with a dose of self-indulgence! I adore exploring charming boutiques and finding little treasures. I must share that I picked up the most divine pink-fringed shawl to drape across my shoulders. Just heavenly! I couldn’t resist another shopping trip, dear readers. And what could possibly be a more enchanting thing than the delicate handmade silver jewelry of Prague?
You’d better believe I indulged!
You may be wondering how I manage to finance these extravagant journeys, and you are in for a treat, my dear reader! You see, my life is more than just frocks and travel. My heart is full of ballet and all that it entails, and this includes ballet performances! Every now and then, I dress up in my beautiful pink tutu and put on a performance myself. I might dance at festivals, charity galas, even in little cafes for passers-by – you never know! I believe ballet should be for everyone, even those who never dreamed of a twirling pink tutu. So you see, I work hard to share my love of ballet and live my dreams!
But enough of my ramblings, darling! I wouldn't want to bore you with every single detail!
You know how it is - one day in Prague is just a taste of what this city has to offer. But I can tell you this much - Prague is simply enchanting. The vibrant streets, the beautiful music, the rich history… It’s a feast for all the senses. If you want to experience culture, history, delicious food and a sense of pure enchantment, then add Prague to your bucket list – stat!
This week, my lovelies, we've journeyed together to Prague, a city full of surprises and beautiful ballet moments. As I sit in the peaceful quiet of my lovely little guesthouse and reflect upon this magnificent city, I can't help but think about what incredible adventures lay ahead.
My next destination? It's top secret, darling! I'll keep you in suspense until next Wednesday. In the meantime, why not give my beautiful pink tutu a twirl? Who knows, perhaps you'll join me on my next grand adventure? Until then, stay twirling and remember to always embrace life in a pink tutu!
Yours truly,
