Hello my dearest tutu-loving lovelies!
It’s Wednesday, which means it's time for another fabulous installment of Pink Tutu Prague! This week I'm writing from the heart of this enchanting city, with its cobblestone streets, magical Christmas markets, and, of course, the most incredible ballet scene I’ve experienced in ages!
I’m absolutely smitten with Prague. It’s like stepping into a fairytale, and the ballet here is as grand as the city itself. This week I’ve been immersed in the world of Czech ballet, from exploring historic theatres to discovering hidden gems tucked away in charming studios. But before I share my experiences, I simply have to tell you about my latest, absolutely divine tutu acquisition!
A Pink Tutu Paradise in Prague
Let’s talk tutus. Every ballet lover knows the feeling: the moment you find a tutu that is simply meant for you. This week, Prague provided me with such a magical encounter. Wandering through the beautiful Old Town, I stumbled upon a tiny, vintage clothing boutique, tucked away on a quiet street, just begging to be discovered. The shop was a haven of elegance and lace, vintage treasures, and, most importantly, stunningly beautiful tutus! I literally gasped. It was like something out of a ballet dream.
And guess what? They had pink tutus, galore!
I found myself surrounded by vintage pink tutus in every shade, from pale blush to bubblegum bright, each with a story of its own. I felt a sense of history and beauty as I gently ran my hands over the delicate layers of tulle and satin. I tried on a few – just to see, of course – and finally chose a breathtaking pale pink tutu with hand-stitched detailing and a whimsical cascading skirt. It was sheer perfection!
This little pink tutu is a new chapter in my collection, a reminder of the enchanting ballet spirit I've found here in Prague. You can bet I’ll be twirling in it for all of the enchanting Prague Ballet performances this week!
Ballet Beyond Borders
Speaking of enchantment, this weekend, Prague is hosting the most spectacular ballet event! The International Ballet Gala! You can find it in the stunning National Theatre, on 19th December, where the world's best dancers will be sharing the stage! Imagine: world-class talent, elegant costumes, stunning choreography, and breathtaking scenery. All wrapped up in the historic majesty of the National Theatre. It's a ballet lover's dream come true, and you can bet your favourite pink tutu that I’ll be there, capturing all the magic on my blog and social media.
I can’t wait to share photos and stories of the stunning dancers, the gorgeous costumes, and the incredible performances! I’ve already secured a front-row seat – it’s going to be magical!
Prague's Ballet Beauty - My Top Tips for Ballerinas on a Budget
Speaking of magical ballet experiences, this city has been an absolute treasure trove of ballet brilliance. I've been to the grand opera house, enjoyed delightful shows at smaller venues, even had a chance to observe a practice session with the Czech National Ballet - talk about a true insider’s peek!
Now, you might think, "Prague is expensive," and that's true if you're looking at luxurious tourist traps, but when it comes to ballet, there's something for everyone.
Here are a few of my tips to ensure your own magical ballet adventure in Prague:
Student Tickets & Early Birds: Prague is home to some very dedicated students, especially at the Academy of Performing Arts. They always get the best student ticket deals, often around half-price! But if you miss out on the student rate, don’t fret! Check the official theatre websites and grab an early bird ticket - the discounts are generous and often come with flexible cancellation policies.
The Ballet School Bargains: This is a tip you won’t find in your guidebooks, but it’s my favourite. Check out ballet schools and studios. They frequently offer performances from up-and-coming dancers, and the cost is a fraction of the national theatre prices! The beauty? It's a chance to see young, enthusiastic talent - you’re essentially witnessing future ballet stars in their prime. Plus, the schools usually have a delightful cafe or charming tea room to grab a sweet treat and relax afterward!
Catch a Rehearsal: While a full performance is incredible, a peek into the ballet rehearsal is almost as delightful. You can often find free or low-cost rehearsals where you can observe dancers practising, warming up, and even trying new moves. This offers a rare glimpse into the process and an appreciation for the work, the artistry, and the pure passion that goes into ballet. And the beauty of it all? It's free!
Beyond the Grand Stages: Explore the smaller, independent theatres - the smaller theatres are hidden gems offering incredible ballet performances for a more intimate experience, without breaking the bank! It's the perfect blend of affordability and passion for those seeking a real "theatre experience" where you can connect with the dancers, the stories, and the heart of Prague's ballet community.
My Prague Ballet Must-Sees:
Here’s my top list of places to check out if you're a ballet enthusiast in Prague:
- National Theatre: A truly stunning building! I just love the architecture – you feel like you've travelled back in time.
- Czech National Ballet: Check their schedules - I heard amazing things about their performances.
- Prague Ballet Company: They host performances throughout the city and often feature exciting new pieces.
- Academy of Performing Arts: Explore the halls of this esteemed ballet school!
- The smaller theatres: Ask around – Prague's rich ballet culture spreads to smaller theatres, adding to the charm.
- The beautiful Christmas Markets: Don't miss the vibrant Christmas markets with live performances of music and ballet!
Pink Tutu in the Prague Christmas Markets
No trip to Prague during the holiday season would be complete without a visit to the stunning Christmas Markets! It's pure Christmas magic! From the smells of freshly baked gingerbread to the beautiful decorations adorning every corner, I simply fell in love. And the best part? The magical spirit extends to the performances! I’ve seen amazing ballet performances right there in the market, dancers weaving their magic amidst the twinkling lights and the joy of the season. It’s truly magical!
I love the fairytale feel of these markets. The music, the twinkling lights, the unique crafts – everything just adds to the magic. This week, I found a little, handmade pink ballet ornament that's joining my tutu-themed Christmas decor – it's a perfect memory from my Prague trip.
A Pink Tutu in Every City
My lovelies, Prague has truly captured my heart. I love its old-world charm, its captivating ballet performances, and, of course, its unique pink tutu finds.
Remember: Life’s a stage, and every moment is a performance! Make each day your own little masterpiece – wear a pink tutu, let your imagination fly, and bring a little ballet magic to your world!
I hope this Prague update finds you twirling with joy!
I'll see you all back here next week with more ballet tales and pink tutu fashion finds!
Until then, keep dancing!

Emma
