Hello, darlings! It's Emma here, back from a whirlwind adventure in Prague, a city that truly stole my heart. As you know, I'm all about embracing the magic of ballet, both on and off the stage. And Prague, my dears, was a feast for all the senses, a symphony of beautiful architecture, rich history, and, of course, captivating dance performances!

This week, I'm going to tell you all about my fabulous trip, taking you along with me on my enchanting journey through the heart of Bohemia. So grab a cuppa, get comfy, and let's get started!

My journey to Prague started with a thrilling train ride from Derbyshire, England. I love train journeys. There's something about watching the world roll by, feeling the gentle sway of the carriages, that allows my imagination to run wild. I sported my signature pink tutu for the journey, naturally. It always brightens up a commute! A vibrant, hot pink tutu, shimmering in the sunlight that streamed through the train windows. This time I paired it with a crisp white shirt and a lavender knitted cardigan. All the other passengers couldn't help but smile as I gracefully hopped onto the train. It was almost as if they were being transported back to their own childhood dreams of twirling in tutus!

The train station in Prague was just as enchanting as I had envisioned. A majestic building filled with grand arches and exquisite mosaics. I felt like I'd stepped into a scene from a fairytale. A gentleman sporting a jaunty hat offered me assistance with my suitcase, which of course was a vintage pink hard case covered in diamantés. He helped me hail a charming, horse-drawn carriage. Such romantic charm! I was completely swept up in the fairytale atmosphere, twirling my pink tutu as we meandered through the cobbled streets. What a grand arrival for this pink-loving ballerina!

After settling in, my first stop had to be the National Theatre . Oh my, it was a dream! Prague's iconic building is so elegant. Think soaring columns, glorious marble staircases, and a shimmering, crystal chandelier that makes the whole space seem magical.

I went to see Sleeping Beauty in their main theatre. The costumes were breathtaking, with intricate details, luxurious velvets and shimmering silk fabrics. The choreography was utterly exquisite - I was mesmerized. The graceful movements of the dancers felt like they were dancing on air, telling the story with each fluid step. It was as if the fairy tale came to life right before my eyes.

The theatre itself was just as enchanting as the performance. Imagine being nestled amongst golden-hued plush seating, velvet-covered walls and chandeliers dripping with sparkling crystals. I wore a scarlet velvet skirt over my pink tutu with a dazzling sequined top, adding a touch of magic and drama to my own ensemble. The atmosphere inside was electrifying, and I was caught up in the excitement of the audience's laughter and applause, their expressions of wonder mirroring my own.

The streets of Prague are just as charming as its theatres, and I loved discovering them on foot. My tutus got me quite a bit of attention - they definitely seem to make a splash here, and not just because of my chosen colour scheme. I felt that this city, with its vibrant atmosphere and historical charm, embraces its uniqueness and eccentricity - much like my own signature look!

After an incredible evening at the National Theatre, the next morning I felt the pull of the beautiful pink and white flower stalls outside Prague’s Old Town Square. This historic plaza is truly awe-inspiring, dominated by a towering Astronomical Clock that mesmerizes crowds with its dancing puppets every hour.

I wandered amongst the beautiful blooms, buying myself a tiny bouquet of forget-me-nots, the prettiest shade of cerulean. The flowers were perfect, contrasting with the pastel pink tutu I was sporting, reminding me of the romanticism that suffuses every cobbled corner of this city.

Where to eat in Prague

Prague is a foodie's paradise. After a full morning exploring the Old Town Square, it was time to find a good place to indulge in a delicious lunch. Now, it’s no secret that I have a sweet tooth and a love for everything beautifully pink. And where better to find it all than in the Café Slavia a decadent Art Nouveau café on the bank of the Vltava River? This café boasts a delectable menu of both classic Czech and French cuisine with stunning Art Deco surroundings that will transport you back in time.

I sat beside the elegant wrought iron window and savored my lunch – a delectable strawberry cake decorated with whipped cream roses and dusted with icing sugar. Pink, of course! It was just what I needed after my morning walking. It paired beautifully with a pot of hot peppermint tea, providing a warm and refreshing boost to my afternoon exploring.

It's no secret that I'm completely smitten with all things ballet. I just have to know all I can about it’s history! So I naturally couldn’t resist visiting Prague's National Theatre Archives, a treasure trove of ballet history and art, housed within the monumental National Theatre itself.

This gem of a museum houses a remarkable collection of historical artefacts: photographs of legendary ballerinas, hand-painted scenery designs, meticulously crafted costumes, and original theatre programmes, just to name a few! I learned about the grand history of the National Theatre and the city's dance legacy.

One of my favorite displays was a series of vintage tutu sketches - beautiful hand-drawn illustrations showing the evolution of tutu designs, from the Romantic era’s romantic and whimsical designs to the elegant yet athletic designs favoured in the modern ballet. It gave me an insightful look at the fashion trends that have graced the stage throughout history. I loved seeing the tutus from all different eras - so inspiring, especially for my own design ideas.

It's just as exciting to learn about the evolution of the tutu as discovering its history!

Let’s face it - a trip wouldn't be complete without some shopping, would it? And in Prague, I found myself absolutely mesmerized by the beautiful shops lining the streets and charming boutiques hiding within. Prague really does offer a vibrant, colourful selection for all. But for this pink-loving ballet enthusiast, it was the fashion and accessories that were irresistible!

Prague has its own unique style - one that reaches back to a traditional, yet romantic history of bohemian chic. I had to find some unique vintage treasures, like a charming hand-painted ceramic teapot and a whimsical rose-covered jewellery box adorned with glittering Czech crystal.

And let’s not forget the ultimate reason for my visit - tutus! A trip to Prague wasn’t going to be complete without a peek into the city’s most impressive dance supply shops! It is almost as if these little boutiques are hidden little gems that are waiting for you to find them.

My journey through the winding lanes led me to a stunning, shop brimming with handmade tutu designs - all colours and styles imaginable! It had some really unique designs! Some were romantic and elegant, some fun and funky, all were truly unique, and definitely sparked my imagination and inspiration.

You know me and tutus - I had to indulge! I came home with a stunning black silk tutu with pale pink floral lace trims and a matching black feather boa – perfect for a Parisian-inspired ballet performance. I already know I’ll be creating some real magic when I wear this piece - the tulle is beautifully light and moves perfectly, and the black against the pale pink lace creates such an elegant and captivating combination! I can already feel the rhythm of my dance moving with this beautiful piece. I’ve always been a strong advocate for wearing whatever brings you joy and makes you feel empowered and confident, and it seems that Prague echoes my sentiments in all its stylish brilliance!

More Than Just Tutus

In my explorations of Prague’s elegant boutiques and antique stores, I discovered some real treasures. Some are practical (although still in keeping with the style I adore! ) - think delicately patterned floral headbands for those moments of “ballet off duty.” Others are simply beautifully whimsical - I have a soft spot for pink silk-covered parasols for those sunny afternoon walks and tiny pink enamel pins shaped like ballerinas to add a touch of charm to my everyday look.

Prague enchanted me with its romantic atmosphere. The charmingly winding cobbled streets leading to the majestic Prague Castle, the sound of street performers, the aromas of local delights drifting from street-side stalls.

On my last night in this magical city, I was graced by a spectacular performance on the Charles Bridge. It's truly an extraordinary feat - imagine an open-air stage with an audience gathered on the bridge below.

The performance was by the Pink Tutu Ballet, an internationally acclaimed troupe, and as always, their artistry shone brighter than any glittering stars. Their costumes, a combination of shimmering pinks and pale blues, brought life to this historical setting. And as a ballerina myself, I couldn’t help but be awestruck by their grace and energy. The combination of movement, emotion and the spectacular backdrop created by the historic Charles Bridge left me spellbound.

My trip to Prague was a symphony of elegance, grace and history - the perfect setting for any pink tutu-wearing ballerina. As always, this city is a vibrant blend of traditional beauty and a progressive sense of style, just as it always has been. And the best part? Prague is the perfect place to indulge in a little ballet inspiration! The City of Enchantment, with its charm and vibrant atmosphere, will remain a dear memory to this ballerina.
