Pink Ballet Tutu Reviews at www.pink-tutu.com

Darling, you simply must know all about the breathtaking performances that graced stages around the globe this month! From the grand spectacle of Paris to the intimate allure of London, I've been twirling across the continents to bring you the latest in ballet and all its captivating charm.

A Parisian Extravaganza

Oh, Paris! Always the city of romance and exquisite taste. My dear friend, the fabulous Chantal, took me to see "La Bayadère" at the Opéra Garnier. It was simply divine! The sets were so grand, and the costumes so sumptuous, they almost made my jaw drop! The corps de ballet was a whirlwind of vibrant colours and graceful movement. And as for the principal dancers, they were truly mesmerising. Natalia Osipova, with her ethereal beauty and exquisite technique, was a vision as the alluring Nikiya. And the ever-magnetic Vladimir Malakhov, as Solor, brought such raw emotion and power to his performance, I swear I felt butterflies flutter in my tummy!

The London Delights

After a delicious afternoon tea in my favourite Parisian tearoom, I was off to London. I simply couldn't resist a trip to the Royal Opera House, darling, for the much-anticipated opening of the new production of "The Sleeping Beauty." Now, I have to tell you, I am completely smitten with this enchanting ballet. The production is stunningly beautiful. From the fairytale costumes to the grand castle sets, every detail is simply perfect. But the heart of the performance lies in the dancing, of course! The incomparable Darcey Bussell is a vision of grace and elegance as Princess Aurora. And her partner, the charismatic Carlos Acosta, makes Prince Désiré so captivating, I'm practically melting! They move with such effortless harmony, and the story unfolds before your very eyes.

An Unexpected Gem in Moscow

My whirlwind tour wouldn't be complete without a trip to Moscow, dear. It was my first time seeing a performance at the Bolshoi Theatre. Honestly, it was an unforgettable experience! The grandeur of the building, the electrifying atmosphere in the theatre, and the breathtaking quality of the ballet itself just blew my mind! I witnessed "Giselle," a classic romantic ballet that has captivated audiences for centuries. Svetlana Zakharova, a veritable star, gave a heart-wrenching performance as the innocent Giselle, and her portrayal of despair and grief was truly moving. The Bolshoi corps de ballet is simply exquisite - every dancer flawlessly executed their steps, making the stage feel alive.

A Little More Sparkle in New York

I then jetted across the Atlantic to New York City! I can never resist a trip to the Big Apple! I attended a performance by the New York City Ballet at the David H. Koch Theater, and, oh, how I adored it! They were performing "Serenade," a beautifully melancholic ballet choreographed by the legendary George Balanchine. The exquisite choreography was a feast for the eyes, with its fluid movements and stunning combinations. But what truly stole my heart was the exceptional dancing of Maria Kowroski. She is a truly gifted artist who seamlessly embodies the ethereal and passionate spirit of this balletic masterpiece.

And now, a few other gems I picked up while on my global ballet spree!

  • Did you hear about the captivating performance of "The Rite of Spring" in Tokyo? Apparently, the staging was spectacular and brought new life to Stravinsky's masterful score! The contemporary choreography was also very impressive.
  • Also in Tokyo, "Swan Lake" at the National Theatre is reportedly the best performance in the city. Now, if you haven't seen this classic masterpiece before, then you really are missing out!
  • You know what else was absolutely dazzling? The premiere of "Cinderella" by Matthew Bourne at Sadler's Wells in London. It's a very fresh interpretation of this classic fairy tale. A quirky yet sophisticated take on ballet, this is certainly a performance worth seeing!
  • While we are on the subject of British Ballet, a little gem called Ballet Cymru out of Wales is doing some wonderful, experimental and modern choreography in “Lullaby” in the small and quaint town of Llangollen - this might not be what one typically expects, but be sure to catch it!
  • I know you all will love this one. There's also a revival of "La Sylphide" with the magnificent Sylvie Guillem at the Palais Garnier. Sylvie! Oh, she is truly divine and simply breathtaking.
  • And for the more experimental soul, the contemporary dance company DV8 Physical Theatre has been causing quite the stir with their production of “The Cost of Living.”

As a fellow lover of the arts, I want you to be aware of all that is unfolding in the captivating world of ballet. These breathtaking performances are truly a gift to our senses and hearts. They are stories told through movement, emotion, and art that will forever leave their mark on us. I truly hope that my travelogues inspired you to visit the theatre. Just imagine yourself, darling, surrounded by such captivating performances!

And darling, just for you, a little tidbit for the fashionista: It’s time for some sparkly tights and dazzling embellishments to shine on stage, or why not go for an elegantly chic black leotard and the matching feather boa?! Just remember to never go too overboard - you should radiate elegance and poise!
