Pink Tutu Rome: #21 - Ciao Bella! (and all that jazz!)

Hello my lovely tutu-wearing darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another installment of my Pink Tutu Rome adventures! This week I'm bursting with excitement, because this trip has truly been divine.

Remember how I told you about getting inspired by a film called Roman Holiday? Well, my darling friends, Rome has truly lived up to the cinematic dream. Let's dive in shall we, to the latest from the Eternal City!

Day 1: Train Travel and Trevi Magic

I travelled from Florence in the most beautiful train. My ticket was first class (treat yourself darling!), with enough space for my massive pink tutu bag. (A ballet dancer can never be caught unprepared, especially for impromptu twirls).

As we approached Rome, the views were simply breathtaking, the countryside painted in autumn hues and with rolling hills. Oh, how I miss Derbyshire! I popped on a pink cardigan, the kind I've been collecting for my Pink Tutu Collections page on the website (oh don't worry darling, it'll be updated soon, I have so many exciting pieces to share!).

Upon arriving at Termini station, my little heart skipped a beat! This station is such a sight! Such an adventure! My sweet hotel is within walking distance from the station, but of course I grabbed a cab - the air was just divine and there's nothing quite like Romeā€™s charming streets.

My hotel is a hidden gem. The Trevi Hotel has an absolutely delightful little pink balcony looking directly at the Trevi Fountain. Can you even imagine!? So this afternoon I took myself for a relaxing stroll around the historical center, feeling like I was in a ballet movie. I couldnā€™t resist a sneaky (and utterly divine) Gelato just across from the fountain. It would be rude not to.

Then came the most beautiful moment. As I gazed upon the Fountain, this divine elderly gentleman, bless him, had brought along a guitar. He was playing the most incredible music! A haunting melody that perfectly fit the scenery and the ambience. Oh, to have this moment last forever! He had a little collection basket beside him, so I of course tossed in a coin ā€“ I simply had to give a small gift to the gods, to thank them for this perfect beginning!

And because this is the era of Pink Tutu Rome, Iā€™ve been posting all the Instagram stories as well as photos on my blog, of course.

Day 2: Shopping Extravaganza & A Colosseum Dance

Okay my dears, I must confess, the shops here have me completely spellbound. They've got these divine stores, bursting with gorgeous fashion - silks, satins, you name it! They're also showcasing the latest looks. Itā€™s honestly inspiring and has really helped me with planning some of my Pink Tutu Collections wardrobe shoots. So many outfit ideas bubbling up in my mind. Such an inspiration.

But honestly, this is what Rome is all about - a bit of culture, a bit of glamour.

In the afternoon I took myself to the Colosseum, a breathtaking experience. The sheer size and magnificence is overwhelming. I imagined gladiators in battle, or perhaps a Ballet on the Roman Stage. You know me! A little Pink Tutu Romance sprinkled with a dose of history ā€“ this cityā€™s a fairy tale in real life!

I am going to put up an Instagram Reel (Iā€™m a bit late to the Reel-Party, but Iā€™m definitely joining in, don't you worry darling! ), with an ā€œEn Pointeā€ twirl in front of the Colosseum. So expect to see it soon!

Day 3: The Vatican and Angel Wings

What can I say? The Vatican City is breathtaking! The scale of the art, the sculptures, the beauty! I spent an hour just wandering the Vatican Museums, trying to take in every detail. So much art! And so many paintings. It was like stepping into another world. It's definitely something I would highly recommend doing. The atmosphere and the detail, just amazing!

I took a snap of myself (I think I just need to hire a full-time photographer to travel with me laughing) in front of the Michelangelo's Pieta. My ballet tutu outfit really popped with the marble backdrop, it looked fabulous, if I do say so myself!

As for the St. Peterā€™s Basilica itself? It's hard to describe, but it's breathtaking, and also awe-inspiring. Standing beneath its grand dome was a truly special experience, especially after listening to the story behind its creation.

But my favourite thing in Vatican City was this massive angel, I just had to have a photograph of me with my tutu holding its wings. (My Pink Tutu Blog is called Pink Tutu Rome, it's about a girl, her tutu, and all the adventures it brings!).

Day 4: A little "la dolce vita" and Pasta-La-Vista Baby!

We have to talk about food, donā€™t we? My goodness. Thereā€™s this divine restaurant here - itā€™s quite famous, in fact ā€“ they make their own pasta! You can see the chefs making it by hand ā€“ it's an absolute delight to watch! (I wonder if I can learn their secret recipe for the websiteā€¦ ).

I also went for a stroll through Campo de' Fiori in the morning. Such an exhilarating place! And my favourite moment was an absolutely adorable man dressed in full gladiator garb ā€“ even with the helmet and tunic! I nearly jumped for joy and twirled him around, it was too much fun, this place is fantastic for moments of pure happiness!

And in the afternoon, after the obligatory shopping spree, I enjoyed a gelato by the Tiber River (the water was so beautiful! I canā€™t stop taking photos). That's my darling friends, another great Roman Day done!

*My Pink Tutu Reflections: ā€œBella, Bella Romaā€ *

You know, itā€™s funny. I used to be so sceptical of ā€œbellaā€ expressions like ā€œCiao Bellaā€, but now? I completely understand why it's used so often in Italy. It's the right term! Every part of Rome has a unique beauty that makes your heart skip a beat! This city has the most amazing charm! From its food, its history, its art, the stunning buildingsā€¦ I've been captivated from the first moment I stepped off that train!

The next time you come here (because it is a must see, darling!) just let your guard down a little, be adventurous and lose yourself in its magic. I'm really going to miss this amazing city. I can see myself visiting it time and again, until one day, I could even move here, to follow my ballet dreams and pursue my ā€œPink Tutu Collectionsā€ on an even larger scale. Oh, darling, wouldnā€™t that be just a dream!

So, until next time (I will certainly be posting my ā€œPink Tutu Romeā€ updates!), Iā€™ll be back in my tutu, taking you on new adventures from a new locationā€¦ and with all the pink-hued fashion you can handle!

XOXO, Emma
