Pink Tutu Rome #35: A Roman Holiday with a Twist!
Ciao Bella!
Welcome back to Pink Tutu Rome, my dear readers. This week's post is a little bit extra special as it's from the beautiful, historical, and downright delicious city of Rome.
You've heard the saying: "When in Rome, do as the Romans do". Well, in this case, I decided to add a little Pink Tutu twist. And I think it worked a treat.

A Little Bit About Me
For those who are new, I'm Emma, a ballet dancer from Derbyshire, England, and I've always had a passion for travelling. I think it's the ultimate way to see the world and experience different cultures - and I love doing it all in the most stylish and vibrant way possible. That's why I bring the Pink Tutu along with me everywhere I go. It's my little way of adding a touch of whimsy and femininity to even the most traditional of settings.
And yes, I truly believe everyone should experience the joy of twirling in a pink tutu. After all, it's not just a piece of clothing; it's a state of mind!
Travel Inspiration and Finding The Right Look
Getting to Rome was an experience in itself. The Eurostar from London took me right to the heart of the city, making the journey an effortless one. There's something so magical about travelling by train – it's romantic, nostalgic, and it allows you to really immerse yourself in the scenery along the way.
As for the style inspiration I was feeling, I've found myself gravitating towards chic and timeless pieces. The colours of the Colosseum were already setting the tone. Think rich creams, warm browns, and hints of terracotta. To match, I picked a stunning, flowing skirt in a deep, dusky rose, and paired it with a simple white, off-the-shoulder top that would be so perfect for exploring the cobblestone streets of Rome! ( Emma includes a link to purchase similar outfits).
And of course, a tutu wouldn't be left behind! This time I chose a layered pink tutu with delicate floral appliques. A touch of the traditional Roman florals. I’m always sure to keep my looks fresh by swapping and changing up the shades of pink. Just because it's Pink Tutu Rome, doesn't mean I want to be wearing the same shade of pink, day in, day out!
A Delicious Journey Through The City
Now, who could talk about Rome without talking about food?! The food here is absolutely divine, and I’m taking full advantage of all the incredible dishes available! My first must-try was authentic Roman pizza, and I found this adorable little café that was just bursting with charm, a vintage bicycle adorning the front! Their "La Regina" with artichoke hearts and mozzarella di bufala, well let’s just say, I couldn’t resist ordering it two nights running!
Then, we have the pasta - Oh, the pasta! My personal favourite was a hearty Bucatini all’amatriciana – a spicy, tomato-based pasta sauce that just hit the spot. It was all too easy to indulge in endless plates of carbs – something I am embracing during my Roman adventure.
The next day I discovered a beautiful restaurant with its own charming little courtyard tucked away from the main tourist crowds, that served up some of the most beautiful and colourful fruit platters I have ever seen! It was the perfect post-shopping treat.

A Journey Through History
My Pink Tutu and I decided it would be fitting to explore Rome’s historic sights, first stop: the Colosseum! Standing tall, like an ancient guardian of Rome's stories, it truly left me speechless. It’s such an incredible monument to Roman power and ingenuity.
I was completely transported back in time imagining the gladiators fighting it out and the roaring crowds - but in true Pink Tutu style, I found myself wanting to dance! It’s easy to turn everything into a performance when you have a tutu on.
Next on the list was the Trevi Fountain – another iconic sight. It’s just as enchanting as you imagine. I must say it’s easy to get caught up in the moment, tossing coins into the fountain for good luck, whilst enjoying the artistry that Rome offers.

Shopping Spree In The City Of Romance
One thing you can’t miss in Rome is the opportunity for shopping, particularly when it comes to exquisite Italian leather goods. The cobblestone streets are just lined with leather workshops, and each one is brimming with vibrant colour and craftsmanship. From handcrafted shoes to luxurious handbags, there are plenty of treats to be discovered!
One of my highlights was stumbling upon a little boutique specializing in colourful scarves. They had all kinds of fabulous colours and patterns – perfect for adding a splash of vibrancy to any outfit! And as you might have guessed, Pink was definitely my choice.

* Ballet Delights and More!*
I’d been looking forward to finding a Ballet school in Rome so I could see if the locals had the same love for dance as us in England. The joy was clear to see as I entered a vibrant dance studio in the Trastevere neighbourhood, tucked away between the narrow, winding streets of the historic district. The energy and spirit that flowed from within was inspiring! I found myself watching a young ballerina class warming up – they reminded me of my own dance beginnings! It was hard not to want to join in and take a class!

A Pink Tutu For Every Occasion
My Rome adventure has given me so much inspiration to continue spreading my pink tutu message and encourage everyone to live a life filled with grace and beauty – even if that means twirling around in a pink tutu every now and again! And as I pack up my suitcase for the next leg of my adventure – somewhere warmer in the sun, I know my tutu will always find its way to the stage – or wherever I choose to share the joy of the dance.
(End the post with a fun photo of Emma in the middle of a crowded street, twirling her tutu or performing a simple dance move, all in a backdrop of Rome).
Until next Wednesday,
