Pink Tutu Rome: #37 - A Ballet-Lover's Dream!

Ciao bellas!

It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another installment of my Pink Tutu Rome adventures! This week I'm taking you all on a whirlwind tour of this glorious city, with all the fashion, fun, and, of course, ballet that I could cram into a 72-hour jaunt. As a little Derbyshire girl, the romance of Rome has always enchanted me. So, I'm finally here, twirling through the cobbled streets, and I’m sharing every whimsical detail with you lovely lot!

Now, you might be wondering how this week's adventure got started. Well, it all began, as usual, with the lure of the stage. I recently secured a gig performing a solo ballet piece at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, which is like a ballet-lover’s dream come true.

I decided to make the trip extra special and treated myself to a week of Italian bliss. This, of course, means an early morning train journey – an absolute treat! It always gets me feeling inspired and energised before any big show, plus it’s the perfect excuse for my favourite outfit combo: pink tutu (with a cheeky peek of lace!), sparkly leggings, a fluffy cardigan, and my trusty ballet shoes tucked neatly in a chic tote bag. The train journey provided ample opportunity to observe my fellow passengers. I noticed a delightful chap in a vintage linen suit sporting a fabulous coral pink tie – such chic Italian style!

Of course, a visit to Rome couldn't be complete without exploring its fashion scene! My first stop was Via Condotti, where every shop window seemed to be bursting with the most fabulous clothes! I even managed to find a pair of sparkling pink shoes that would make any ballerina proud (you just HAVE to check out the photos on my Instagram!). Oh, and I treated myself to a lovely floral silk scarf – you can never have too many scarves! I’m definitely feeling ready for some serious Italian sightseeing in this outfit!

Later that evening, I enjoyed a fantastic Italian feast (the pasta was divine!) and soaked up the vibrant atmosphere in Piazza Navona. A street performer caught my eye; a young boy dancing to some traditional Italian music, with all the charm and talent of a seasoned performer! This truly captured the spirit of this incredible city, a city where passion for life is woven into the fabric of every moment.

Wednesday, 1996-02-21, was dedicated to exploring the city's historical treasures! The Colosseum and the Roman Forum were breathtaking. I love being in places where history is truly tangible. Walking through those ancient ruins, I felt like I was stepping back in time. The sun was shining and it was just as dazzling as the marble sculptures and frescoes! A little tip from a Pink Tutu Rome Insider: Don't forget your comfy walking shoes. Trust me, your feet will thank you.

Then, I strolled around Piazza di Spagna and the Spanish Steps, taking in the chic atmosphere, the buzzing cafes, and the incredible views. The pink and orange buildings look positively enchanting as the sun sets – another perfect moment to capture on my trusty camera. The energy of Rome just pours from every nook and cranny!

Later that night, I found myself in awe at La Scala Opera House (yes, you read that right!), another of Italy’s renowned opera and ballet theatres. I spent hours lost in the stunning architecture, the gilded walls, and the sheer magic that seemed to fill the air. The beauty was overwhelming, a feast for the senses and a truly inspiring experience for this aspiring ballerina. The night ended with a private viewing of a contemporary ballet performance; I could just lose myself in those flowing movements and intricate steps, they were breathtaking.

After that, I hit the local gelateria for a delicious scoop of pistachio gelato - another Italian highlight. So refreshing after an exciting evening at the theatre, all that twirling can work up an appetite, let me tell you.

This blog has always been about more than just ballet, it’s about spreading joy, colour, and above all, love. Rome has been a whirlwind of pink and beauty. Every corner has a tale to tell, and every moment has been a new adventure.

Oh, and of course, I have to leave you with some style inspiration for your next ballet adventure:
Outfit Alert: * *The Rome Rhapsody: A vintage-inspired pink tutu (because a girl never forgets her roots), paired with a flowy floral scarf, and statement jewellery – like a gorgeous chunky gold necklace. And, remember the secret ingredient, darling - confidence!

Catch me next week for another episode of Pink Tutu Rome, where we'll delve into the heart of Italian cuisine, discover hidden art galleries, and (hopefully) even find time for some more fashion fun!

Ciao bella, until next week! Emma
