Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! (Post #39)
Wednesday, 6th March, 1996
Ciao bellissimo followers! Emma here, signing in live from the Eternal City of Rome! I'm so excited to share my Roman adventures with you all. This is my first time in Italy, and I must say, the vibes are absolutely perfetto!
My journey began on Tuesday morning. I left the quaint English countryside of Derbyshire, with its rolling green hills, to board a train to the glittering metropolis of Rome. There’s nothing more exciting to me than the rhythm of the wheels clicking along the tracks, the journey through landscapes, and the anticipation of arriving in a new city.
I knew I had to make an entrance, so naturally, I adorned my travel essentials. My favourite pink tutu, this one is a delightful pale pastel pink, perfectly complements my new ballet flats and an oh-so-stylish, yet practical, denim jacket. It’s always so thrilling, watching the reactions as I pass through stations, you can’t help but feel the joy, it’s contagious!
Rome's Termini station greeted me with a flurry of activity, so typically Italian. From there, it was a short, exhilarating taxi ride to my little pink paradise - a quaint hotel nestled near the Piazza Navona.
And the most exciting part? Today, I am seeing the legendary Roberto Bolle perform in the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma! Imagine my joy, dear readers, to find out he’s dancing Swan Lake. A ballet masterpiece, set in the most stunning Italian theater imaginable. The sheer extravagance of the building is breath-taking!
Of course, my tutu had to be pink, this time, it's a slightly deeper blush pink, matching my rose-colored tulle top. The combination simply radiated eleganza - perfetto!
I have to tell you, Rome is such a fashionable city! It's like a real-life fashion magazine come to life. I spotted a fabulous tailor's shop earlier - oh, I simply cannot wait to browse his wares! I might even commission him to design me a new pink tutu to showcase my upcoming show next week!
But my day wasn’t over yet. After the Ballet, a wonderful, romantic Italian dinner at a charming trattoria overlooking the city's historic heart, under a tapestry of twinkling stars. Delicious pastas, the most fabulous wine, and conversations with new friends (it’s impossible to resist striking up a chat in a place like Rome!).
And what a glorious end to my day - strolling through the quiet back streets of the ancient city under the moonlight, the warmth of the air against my skin, my heart brimming with the magic of Italy. It's truly a fairytale!
Stay tuned, dear readers, I’ve got so much more to share. Tomorrow, we’re going to see the Colosseum, so stay tuned for pictures and tales from the very heart of Roman history.
As ever, sending you all the love from sunny Rome.
Ciao!
