#PinkTutuRome: Rome's Romanticism! (Post #86)

Ciao bellas! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another #PinkTutuRome blog post! This week I'm gushing all about the eternal city - Rome! As a Derbyshire girl, Iā€™ve always felt a strong pull towards Italy. Maybe itā€™s the sunshine, maybe itā€™s the delicious food, or maybe it's the sheer amount of culture crammed into every corner of the city! Whatever the reason, Rome is totally captivating. And Iā€™m loving it!

Last week, I hopped on the Eurostar (love those train journeys!) to catch the ferry over to the Italian mainland. My little pink tutu and I travelled in style! Of course, I wouldn't dare leave Derbyshire without my trusty ballet shoes tucked safely away in my bag ā€“ one never knows when a spontaneous pirouette is going to be required, right?

Stepping onto Roman soil, it felt like stepping back in time. The air hums with ancient energy, from the iconic Colosseum to the grand Forum, there's a history whispering on every breeze. I even tried on a laurel wreath at the Forum ā€“ so much more flattering than I thought! My #PinkTutuRome mission to spread the joy of tutus? Absolutely unstoppable!

The past few days have been a whirl of history and fashion! We saw the awe-inspiring Trevi Fountain ā€“ did you know youā€™re supposed to throw a coin into the water for good luck? I tossed mine in with a twirl, hoping for an endless supply of delicious gelato! And what can I say about the Vatican City? Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel had me utterly mesmerized! I could have stared at the frescoes for hours ā€“ although, a quick peek at the Vatican gardens gave me just the inspiration for a tutu inspired by the Vaticanā€™s own gardens! Expect to see that masterpiece in a few weeks on Pink-Tutu.com!

Shopping in Rome is, of course, divine. I spent a delightful afternoon in the vibrant Monti neighbourhood. It's packed with independent boutiques ā€“ I picked up the most gorgeous silk scarf with a beautiful floral pattern! I know my tutu will look incredible with it, maybe for the grand finale of my next ballet performance! I also snagged a new pair of Italian-made shoes ā€“ you simply canā€™t go wrong with Italian footwear!

On Wednesday night, I headed over to the Teatro dellā€™Opera di Roma to see a performance of ā€œThe Nutcracker.ā€ I've seen "The Nutcracker" dozens of times, but in Rome it felt completely new and utterly enchanting! The dancing was beautiful, and the orchestra's performance had the entire theatre entranced. Itā€™s a good thing I kept my pink tutu packed. If there was ever a place to celebrate the ballet it's right here!

But letā€™s talk about food! From mouthwatering pasta dishes to the best pizza Iā€™ve ever had, Italy's food scene is a treat for the tastebuds. The aroma of freshly baked bread wafting through the air, and the abundance of local produceā€¦ pure delight! Iā€™ve eaten like a queen, and yes, I even indulged in a creamy gelato or two ā€“ because everyone deserves a treat!

Evenings here have a real ā€œLa Dolce Vitaā€ feeling ā€“ wandering the streets after dinner, watching the world go by with a glass of chilled local wine, and soaking in the romantic atmosphereā€¦ whatā€™s not to love?! Every day in Rome is a mini-adventure!

Tomorrow Iā€™m heading to the Pantheon, which, according to rumour, has the best lighting in all of Rome, a perfect backdrop for some fabulous pink tutu selfies!

I'm feeling completely inspired and a little bit overwhelmed with love for this incredible city! This has been such a vibrant week, filled with art, history, and fashion! Donā€™t forget to check out Pink-Tutu.com next week to see all the pics of my #PinkTutuRome adventures, including my outfit inspired by the Pantheon and some beautiful shots of the Teatro dellā€™Opera di Roma!

Until next time, my darlings!

Stay twirling!

Love,

Emma xx
