Pink Tutu Rome: Post #97 – The Eternal City's Magic!

Ciao, darlings!

Emma here, ready to whisk you away on another Pink Tutu adventure! This week, we're in the Eternal City itself, Rome, Italy. It's the city of love, art, food, and…well, tutus of course!

Rome has been on my bucket list for years, and honestly, it’s lived up to all my dreams and then some. There's so much history here, it’s practically bubbling up from the cobblestone streets. But, being a pink tutu girl at heart, I’m most thrilled about exploring the city's ballet scene!

Before I spill all the juicy details, a little catch-up about my ballet performance schedule. This time around, my performances at the Derby Theatre went splendidly, which means this Roman holiday is possible! Thank you to all my lovely patrons and followers for making it possible. Now, let's dive into this pink paradise!

Train Travel & the Glam Factor

I took the Eurostar, which I absolutely love. Something about the sleek carriages, the high-speed swoosh, and the delicious croissants offered just fills me with a sense of adventure. My pink tulle handbag was absolutely essential – filled with everything from my sparkly ballet flats to a secret stash of chocolate, naturally.

I’d chosen my travel outfit with utmost care. A simple black shift dress, some bright pink heels and, of course, a beautiful pink tutu, billowing ever so slightly from my suitcase. It just wouldn’t be right to arrive in a city as grand as Rome without a touch of pink magic. Because it’s never just a tutu, darling. It’s a statement, a celebration of life, a declaration of “Look at me! I'm living my best life in pink!” And Rome, it seems, embraced me wholeheartedly.

Rome's Heartbeat – History & Art

Upon arrival, the charm hit me like a tidal wave of espresso and sunshine! My hotel is a charming little haven, just off the cobbled streets, with the aroma of fresh croissants wafting through the hallways. I couldn’t resist indulging in one, with a tall cappuccino and the morning newspaper.

My first stop? The Colosseum. I gasped when I saw its grand scale – truly mind-blowing. Imagine all the gladiatorial battles, the roars of the crowds! Even my pink tutu felt subdued in the presence of such historical grandeur. It truly is a reminder of the power of human stories woven into stone. It even managed to inspire my own pink tulle dress – think gladiator-style straps, but with a pink twist of course!

My next stop: The Pantheon – a temple turned church. I loved its grand dome, bathed in the sun, and its simple, yet exquisite design. The echo of history within those walls makes your very spirit sing. You feel the echoes of emperors, philosophers, artists, and gods. I stood there, in the middle of it all, feeling deeply connected to the history of the city, to its story, and even, oddly enough, to the tiny dancer inside of me.

Ballet and Beyond

Tonight's event: "Aida" at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. It was incredible – so visually spectacular and deeply moving. The ballet dancers, graceful and elegant, commanded the stage with effortless beauty. It was truly inspiring. I know I said it's all about tutus, but sometimes the best thing is seeing ballet without your own! To be honest, though, the beautiful choreography, the powerful storytelling, and the gorgeous costumes made me dream about creating a Pink Tutu take on "Aida" – just a little project for the future. The sheer creativity and artistry were a revelation to me.

The costumes were to die for – stunning! From the glittering gold and deep jewel tones, to the majestic silks and velvets, I just felt transported to a world of romance and glamour. It made me want to design my own costumes, of course! My new aim – to bring Pink Tutu glamour to the Roman stage! Think vibrant hues, whimsical twirls, and enough sparkle to make the stars envious!

Shopping in Paradise

Of course, no trip to Rome is complete without indulging in some delicious Italian fashion. I spent an afternoon in the trendy shops in Trastevere – think designer shoes, the most delightful little boutiques, and charming cafes with pastel-colored exteriors. * I felt like a fairy tale princess!* And of course, I couldn’t resist picking up a beautiful pink dress that perfectly embodied Roman charm - the fabric flowed like the fountains at the Trevi Fountain, and the color reminded me of a pink sorbet, perfect for the balmy Roman evenings. If you ever want to make me truly happy, buy me a dress made of pink sorbet fabric – and bring a bottle of Italian red!

The Beauty of the Everyday

Rome isn't just about ancient ruins and grand operas, you know. There's a certain charm in its everyday life. The street artists, with their bold colors and whimsical characters; the vibrant cafes with the clinking of espresso cups and laughter spilling onto the streets; and the beautiful mosaics found even in the simplest of places, on buildings, sidewalks, even on the metro station walls. They just feel like whispers of beauty.

I spent the day taking long walks, savoring the warm air, stopping to watch street performers and soak in the vibrant colors. * I made sure my tutu swept along the cobbled streets of Rome, a celebration of everything wonderful this city has to offer – the romance, the history, and the art.* I made my way to the Pantheon to see the perfect symmetry and to the Trevi Fountain to throw a coin over my shoulder, wishing for … you guessed it, a pink tulle tutu store, with one branch right here in Rome!

A Final Bow

Rome, you’ve captured my heart, not just for your magnificent history and beauty, but also for your ability to weave magic into everyday life. You've shown me that pink tutus are welcome in all corners of the world! And as I embark on a new adventure, a new performance in this enchanting city, I want you all to remember – you, too, can embrace the Pink Tutu spirit. Let it flow in your confidence, your dreams, and your passion. Life is too short not to wear pink tulle!

Stay tuned for my next post where we'll delve deeper into Rome’s enchanting ballet scene, and let me know what your favorite spots in the city are!

Arrivederci,

Emma xoxo
