#PinkTutuRome: Rome Sweet Rome! (Post #120)

Ciao Bella! It's your girl Emma, back from the cobblestone streets of Rome, and oh my, it's even more magical than I dreamt! This week on Pink Tutu Travels we're diving headfirst into the Eternal City, and let me tell you, it's living up to its name.

First things first, gotta talk about the journey. You know how much I love train travel, and this trip was no exception. It was like stepping back in time – red leather seats, sleek compartments, the gentle clattering of the wheels on the tracks… perfect for daydreaming about all the pink tutu adventures awaiting me in Rome!

Now, let's talk fashion! As I'm sure you all know, my motto is, "life's too short to be in a boring outfit." So, naturally, I had to bring my favourite pink tulle number (the one with the little sparkling butterflies) for my arrival in Rome. Imagine me stepping out of Termini Station in all its glory, complete with a matching pink beret, my hair cascading in loose curls – I felt like a little fairy princess who'd just wandered into this magnificent city.

We all know that Italy is the undisputed queen of fashion, and Rome is the centre of the fashion world. I literally cannot contain myself! My little ballerina heart is beating faster than a pirouette when I think about all the boutiques I'm about to explore. Think luxurious silks, perfectly tailored cuts, shoes that could make a prima ballerina jealous… my bank balance is screaming, but honestly, I'm ready to embrace the splurge.

Oh, speaking of dancing, I absolutely cannot wait to see some of the legendary ballet performances Rome has to offer! Imagine waltzing under the starry sky at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma… just dreaming of it! I'm sure it's going to be a real treat. My research has turned up an incredible show featuring the famous ballerinas from the Rome Opera. A performance featuring an excerpt from Giselle… how exciting is that?! It's happening on September 25th, which means a fabulous tutu and even more fabulous fashion are definitely in order!

But it's not all about dancing, darlings. Rome is bursting with ancient wonders! Today, September 24th, I wandered through the awe-inspiring Colosseum. The sheer scale and history of it took my breath away! It felt like I was walking through a time capsule, transported back to the gladiatorial battles of ancient Rome. It's fascinating how the world of theatre and performance transcends generations – those brave gladiators were performing, entertaining and inspiring just like ballet dancers today. I’m still trying to figure out how they were able to pull off those epic fights in their tutus, or did they? Do you think gladiators wore tutus? What do you think? Let me know in the comments below.

Oh, and have I mentioned the food? My darling friends, it's not just good, it's divine. Today I indulged in a delicious pasta dish with a creamy, cheesy sauce, and topped it off with some gelato. That sweet treat felt like pure magic. Let's just say I’ve put on at least five pounds, but it's all worth it. You'll be hearing more about my culinary adventures in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

Rome is simply radiating beauty and I can't help but soak it all in! Every corner holds a new surprise, from majestic buildings to charming little piazzas. I've even found some pretty gorgeous pink shops filled with adorable tutus and tulle! Can't wait to share those with you all next week.

Till then, sending you all a big Pink Tutu hug and a heap of Rome’s sunshine. Keep those pink tutus twirling!

Much love, Emma

xx
