#PinkTutuRome: Rome, Oh My! (Post #158) 🩰🇮🇹

Hello my lovely tutu-wearing darlings! It’s Emma, and as you know, Wednesday means a fresh new post on #PinkTutuRome, where we’re exploring the dazzling beauty of the Eternal City!

Now, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty, shall we?

Firstly, let’s rewind to last week when I touched down in the beautiful city of Rome. Did I tell you all about how I arrived by train? Oh, the sheer joy of watching the countryside flit by, the Italian landscape painting an exquisite backdrop to my window seat, as I whisked away from the bustle of Derbyshire to the heart of Roman magic. You see, darlings, I believe in sustainable travel, so trains are my chariot of choice – a slow dance of scenic splendor to a new adventure!

Of course, as a #PinkTutuTravel enthusiast, I wouldn’t have thought to leave home without my favourite pink tutu - this time, it’s a fluffy, sweet ballet-style number that tickles my ankles and matches my bright pink sun hat. Yes, even in the Roman heat, my love for pink remains a beacon.

But back to Rome. It’s the sort of city that demands to be savored. It's the whisper of emperors in the Colosseum, the smell of espresso swirling in the morning air, the gentle warmth of sunlight on a piazza adorned with a graceful fountain – it’s just utterly enchanting.

The very next day, I spent a blissful morning browsing the stunning shops of Via Condotti. You know me, darlings, a pink tutu-wearing gal is all about a little fashion therapy! This street is an absolute delight, overflowing with haute couture and designer delights. I snagged a divine blush-pink silk scarf with delicate embroidery and a playful straw hat trimmed with pink satin ribbons – the perfect accessories to enhance the chic factor, don’t you think?

That evening, however, my tutu took center stage. Now, darlings, Rome isn’t just about its history and fashion – it's an art-lover’s dream. I took in the most splendid performance by the Ballet Teatro di Roma, right here in the Teatro Argentina. It was an exquisite portrayal of Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’, with ballet so beautiful it almost took my breath away.

I've found the city positively brimming with exciting artistic happenings. As I discovered, it was just sheer chance that my arrival happened to coincide with the Roma Fringe Festival, a delightful concoction of theatre, dance, music, and performance art – my heart couldn’t help but rejoice.

What I discovered is that Roman nightlife goes beyond just the typical tourist traps, darlings. On a Friday evening, after a leisurely pasta supper, I wandered through the heart of the Trastevere district, where vibrant energy pulsated in the streets. Suddenly, there it was: a little hidden gem – a cozy stage bathed in the soft glow of candlelight – hosting a local street performance. It wasn't opera, darling, but it was a symphony of movement, a delightful blend of music and theatrics with a hint of humour. I just adore finding these hidden artistic gems, especially when it involves such fabulous performance talent.

The energy of Rome feels magical, almost as though it’s imbued in the cobblestone streets. There’s a story at every turn, an old secret tucked away beneath the Tuscan sun, and even a cup of coffee is an enchanting ritual.

I’ve had so many remarkable experiences, my dear friends. But I’m determined to share as many as possible with you all here in my little #PinkTutuRome corner of the internet.

I promise to continue sharing more insights about my adventures - what we eat, where we shop, and of course, more gorgeous ballet performances, along with fashion, beauty, and lots of photos – always adorned with my beloved pink tutus, as I continue to sprinkle a touch of pink and a dose of ballerina whimsy around this breathtaking city!

And remember, my sweet darlings, life is always more exciting when we embrace a little pink magic! Don't forget to check in next Wednesday for more Roman delights on www.pink-tutu.com.

Until next time, wear a pink tutu, travel with gusto, and let your heart soar with joy.

Your #PinkTutuRome correspondent,

Emma

* P.S: I almost forgot to share this darling date! 17 June 1998. That’s the day France defeated Brazil in the World Cup finals in Saint-Denis – what a remarkable day for sport! I loved celebrating France's victory right here in Rome!*
