Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! (Post #165)

Buongiorno, darlings!

It’s Emma here, back from the magical city of Rome and bursting with excitement to share all the glittery goodness with you. This week’s post, dear readers, is all about Rome! The Eternal City, the City of Seven Hills, and, if I may add, the City of Pink Tutues! (Okay, maybe not that last one, but I'm working on it!)

As you know, every Wednesday, I delve into the depths of my adventures on the glorious www.pink-tutu.com website. Today's blog is dedicated to the Italian capital and my incredible journey of pink tutu discovery in this incredible city. Buckle up, babes, it's a whirlwind of fashion, food, and, of course, pink!

Now, Rome is no stranger to fashion. It’s a place where timeless elegance meets vibrant modernity, and where the streets themselves are an endless runway. You can't help but be swept away by the effortless chic of the locals, their bold colours, exquisite accessories, and even their everyday hairstyles, showcasing an art that transcends trends.

I, however, went all out! I mean, when in Rome, right? Think flowing pink tutu, paired with a gorgeous silk scarf, statement earrings, and a pair of those adorable ballet flats I adore. My trusty pink travel backpack slung across my shoulder, ready for the sights, the smells, and, of course, all the pink-tastic opportunities this magnificent city held!

How I Got Here

Let's be honest, part of the charm of travelling for me is the journey itself. Train journeys are like miniature ballets, aren't they? Watching the scenery morph and shift, catching a glimpse of life unfolding beyond the window… I swear I could have spent the entire journey from Derbyshire to Rome gazing out at the countryside.

Of course, as usual, I packed a good book and my ever-faithful travel journal, so that I could indulge in some creative introspection along the way. Honestly, a well-placed ballet class on the train is perfect for unleashing my creative flow. Sometimes the rhythmic sway of the train, especially as it chugs through tunnels and bridges, is the inspiration I need to write about my experiences in detail.

**Wednesday 1998-08-05: A Day in Pink (and Yellow and White)

I must say, Wednesday, 5th August 1998, was one for the history books. It's a date etched into my memory – the day my pink-tutu journey met its match in the heart of Rome!

The morning dawned with the promise of an unforgettable day. I had my heart set on a whirlwind tour of some of Rome's iconic landmarks. But, you know me, I always have room for a touch of extra, so I started the day with a delightful ballet class at a charming studio tucked away in a peaceful, little alley. Now, this wasn't just any ballet studio - it felt like an elegant secret in a storybook. They had these magnificent chandeliers, and even the mirror had a vintage charm to it.

You can't deny that ballet class in Rome is different, the energy was so palpable, the passion evident in the movements of the dancers. It was a joy, darlings, pure joy.

Tutus and Tiaras: My Day of Adventures

Once the pirouettes and grand jetés were done, I hopped on the Metro and began my grand tour of Rome, and yes, this is where it got even more pink-tastic!

Our first stop: the Colosseum. Imagine this: the sun setting, the magnificent arena bathed in golden light. The roar of the crowd… okay, it wasn't a real fight to the death happening, just a handful of tourist buskers doing re-enactments of the gladiatorial combats. But it was thrilling nonetheless. I even attempted my best gladiatorial poses while standing outside. Let's just say, I definitely brought some pizzazz to the ancient ruins! (Even if I'm sure the real gladiators wouldn't have worn a pink tutu, but hey, who's going to argue with a vision of Roman grandeur like this?)

Next, we ventured onto the bustling Piazza Navona. The lively street artists, the joyous street musicians, the tempting street vendors… it was a vibrant symphony of Italian life. It wasn't long until I discovered a magnificent hat shop with the most divine array of pink feather boas and vintage-style fascinators. Let's just say my heart skipped a beat when I stumbled upon this beauty of a shop! It's always nice to add a touch of drama to your wardrobe, you know?

Of Fashion and Feasting: The Night of my Dreams

Dinner was pure magic at a delightful little trattoria nestled down a charming alleyway in Trastevere. The air was buzzing with chatter and laughter, the aroma of fresh basil and garlic swirling around the courtyard, and, oh, the music… I was so taken by the gentle serenade of the local string quartet. I couldn't help but tap my feet as the music played on. The whole thing just felt ...enchanting.

We followed this magical evening with a spectacular ballet show in the most divine opera house you've ever seen! The costumes, the lighting, the dancing - absolutely breathtaking!

But even a princess like me needs to rest! It was with tired, happy feet that I returned to my charming little hotel. Rome was enchanting, a city full of hidden gems.
