Pink Tutu Rome: Post 171 – Ciao Bella! 🇮🇹

Hello my darlings, and welcome back to Pink Tutu Rome! This week, I'm positively buzzing with excitement. It's a new city, a new adventure, and a new – gasp! – tutu. You'll just have to wait and see this one, it's a dream! 😍

As some of you may know, I adore travelling by train. The rhythmic clackety-clack, the picturesque views, and the sense of adventure… I feel like I'm in a scene from one of my favourite ballets. Speaking of which, I recently performed with the Derbyshire Ballet in a production of "The Nutcracker." I even got to play the Sugar Plum Fairy, which, naturally, I performed in a breathtaking pink tutu! 🩰

We're currently in a quaint little village on the outskirts of Rome, and my flat has the most charming courtyard. My lovely landlord is an artist who also seems to have an endless supply of cats – perfect! Every morning, they serenate me with their meow-filled symphony. The scent of fresh rosemary and jasmine fills the air, and I even saw a little green lizard sunning itself on the wall. I'm definitely starting to get that "Roman holiday" feel. 😌

Now, let's talk about the real reason you're here, shall we? My Rome itinerary, of course! I've been dreaming about visiting Rome ever since I first watched "Roman Holiday" (the perfect excuse for wearing my Audrey Hepburn-inspired ballet pumps – more on those later). And guess what? I managed to get a performance at a theatre in the heart of Rome! That's right, darling – ballet in the city of gladiators and pasta!

I had a brilliant time meeting all the friendly faces at the theater. Apparently, Roman audiences are some of the most enthusiastic – and I just had to give a little wink and a twirl during my bow, I couldn't help myself. 🙈

Here's a quick peek at what we've been up to this week in fabulous, fashion-forward Rome:

Wednesday 16th September

  • Morning: I arrived in Rome feeling utterly energised! The train journey was pretty much a non-stop ballet class for my legs as I practised all my new moves in preparation for my show. The first glimpse of the Colosseum made my heart skip a beat - it’s just incredible!
  • Afternoon: I made sure I hit the fashion boutiques in the city center and scored some seriously cute pink and fuchsia accessories. You know I have a weakness for pretty things, and let me tell you, the craftsmanship in Roman shops is top-notch. Don’t even get me started on the handbags! 👜
  • Evening: A delicious Italian dinner in a family-run trattoria with fresh, home-cooked food. And the portions! My eyes definitely popped when my plate arrived. It was such a delight to sit, sip on some red wine (just a teeny bit to keep my performance spirit high), and absorb the ambience of a real Roman family meal.

Outfit of the day

A pastel pink floaty midi skirt with an oversized white blouse – perfect for a breezy Rome day. Of course, my faithful pink ballet shoes added a touch of ballerina chic. Don't even get me started on my matching pink purse… I know you’re wondering where I get all my incredible accessories from, and I promise, you’ll love my little secret… coming soon, my darlings, coming soon!

Things I learned today:

  • The Colosseum really is that big – truly mind-blowing!
  • Italians have the cutest way of talking – their language sounds like music to my ears!
  • This is one of the most photogenic cities ever - everywhere you look there’s an amazing backdrop. I’ll be sure to share some pictures on Instagram!

Well, darlings, that’s it for today! As they say, all good things must come to an end – but you know I’ll be back next week to share my latest adventures!

In the meantime, don't forget to embrace your inner ballerina and live life with a bit of a twirl! I promise, it's truly liberating.

Lots of love,

P.S. Did you know I sell a collection of "Emma-approved" pink tutus on my website? That's right! All my loveliest ballet designs, fit for a ballerina princess. Just like yours truly! 👑
