Pink Tutu Rome: Week 188 - Ciao Bella, Italy! 🇮🇹 💖

Well, hello lovelies! It's Emma here, ready to whisk you away to the romantic streets of Rome! I'm positively giddy to share my latest adventure with you all, because let me tell you, Rome has truly stolen my heart.

This week's Pink Tutu journey started with a lovely train ride from Derbyshire. You know how much I love those old-fashioned carriages with the comfy plush seats and the swaying rhythm of the tracks. It's a chance to get lost in a book (a beautiful ballet biography in this case!) and dream of the destination. And Rome, oh Rome, you did not disappoint.

Arriving in Rome: The Eternal City of Style

Stepping off the train, the air itself seemed to hum with a vibrant energy. The smell of fresh pasta, the chatter of street vendors, the sound of music echoing from a nearby trattoria… I felt a buzz of excitement that only Rome can conjure. I immediately started scouting out the scene for any fabulous, tutu-friendly outfits. Now, this city is all about classic elegance – flowing skirts, chic jackets, gorgeous jewellery. My first stop was for a beautifully crafted, blush pink clutch. The perfect finishing touch to my Parisian-inspired ensemble: a flowing tulle skirt, a blush silk top, and my trusty, slightly oversized pink cardigan.

The Trevi Fountain: Tossing Dreams Into the Water

No trip to Rome is complete without a visit to the iconic Trevi Fountain, right? And what better way to honour this spectacular masterpiece than by channeling my inner Roman goddess in a full-length, flowing tulle tutu. Yes, you heard that right! It's not just about the beauty of the fountain, it's also about embracing the beauty of you. And for me, that includes celebrating all things tutu.

I was captivated by the elaborate design and the sheer scale of it. As the water cascaded into the fountain, it seemed to carry away any stress or worry. So, I took a deep breath, tossed in a coin (for good luck, of course!) and whispered my deepest wishes – a successful performance at the Opera House this weekend, and for more pink tutus to take over the world. You never know, maybe it works!

Shopping for La Dolce Vita

What's a ballerina in Rome without indulging in some incredible shopping? This city is a paradise for those who love vintage and designer pieces. I had to pay a visit to one of the legendary "Campo de' Fiori" markets, with its colourful displays of fabrics and shoes. I scored a gorgeous silk scarf for a fraction of the price it would be in London! Imagine, silk scarves and tutus? What's not to love?!

But let’s not forget the food! 🇮🇹 After all, Rome is known for its delicious, flavourful cuisine. 🍝 On my first evening, I enjoyed a delicious plate of pasta carbonara with my dear friend Sophia. It was truly la dolce vita! Sophia and I first met at a ballet workshop back in London, and I was so delighted she was already here when I arrived. I know it will be a great week discovering this beautiful city with her.

Ballet in Rome: An Encore of Excitement

I had a magical time exploring some of the more intimate and historically rich ballet venues in Rome this week. It felt so fitting, being in the birthplace of many great choreographers and dancers, that I even felt myself move with a more graceful elegance – an energy the very city itself seemed to imbue in me. The theatres, with their golden walls and grand proscenium arches, took me back to a time of artistry and grandeur that truly made me feel as though I'd stepped into a storybook.

I’ve discovered that ballet holds a very special place in the hearts of the Roman people. Even just stepping onto the streets, it seemed that ballet permeated the very atmosphere - in the way people danced across the piazzas, and in the joy they expressed on a walk to a nearby café. There's something truly special about the way that ballet speaks a universal language of grace, passion, and expression.

Pink Tutu Dreams for the Week Ahead

This week, my dreams of dance and travel intertwine, bringing me to a magnificent performance of Swan Lake at the Rome Opera House. It is, you know, my ultimate challenge for my ballet blog. Wearing my most exquisite tutu, I'm stepping out into the Roman theatre scene. Imagine, the magic of ballet, the passion of the Italian audience, and a splash of pink tulle...it's truly a Pink Tutu dream!

Keep an eye on www.pink-tutu.com to see how this week’s adventure unfolds. Until then, stay lovely, wear a pink tutu, and let’s dance into the future! 🩰 💋
