#PinkTutuRome - Ciao Bella! Post 189 - Wednesday 20th January 1999
Ciao darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another #PinkTutuRome update from your favourite pink-tutu-clad traveller. Today I'm in Rome, Italy - the Eternal City, bursting with history and charm! I love how the ancient Roman ruins are dotted all over the city - I can just imagine the incredible gowns and togas fluttering around those cobblestone streets centuries ago! And speaking of incredible, did you see my #OOTD on Instagram? Pink tutu, obviously, but I paired it with a vintage, Italian leather jacket and a fabulously ornate floral headdress for that Roman Goddess vibe.
Rome, with its vibrant energy, reminded me so much of the Ballet performances back in Derbyshire! Each day feels like a show in itself - there's so much to see, hear, and experience, and it makes me feel like a graceful ballerina, pirouette-ing through a new and captivating scene!
My Rome adventure started yesterday - I boarded a train in the wee hours from Paris (where I indulged in some glorious croissant and café au lait), and arrived in the capital of Italy, brimming with excitement. And darling, what excitement it was! The train ride itself was just dreamy - the countryside painted with soft hues of gold and green, dotted with quaint villages, rolling hills, and quaint vineyards - it felt like I was starring in my own cinematic travelogue!
Oh, but don't think for a moment that my trip is just about pretty scenery! It’s been all about shopping, dancing and fabulous shows!
Yesterday, I dove straight into Roman culture. First stop? A divine ballet performance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. Imagine, darlings, an incredible theatre, ornate with gold and red velvet, and a breathtaking ballet production – I almost burst into tears! I swear, some of the leaps and twirls made my head spin. A glorious performance, perfectly enhancing the day’s roman holiday.
And the shopping, oh the shopping! Rome is a haven for fashionistas like me! I discovered a tiny boutique tucked away in a quaint cobblestoned alleyway – an absolute treasure trove of gorgeous fabrics and unique vintage items, all perfectly fitting my "ballerina" chic vibe. Let's just say my bags are feeling rather heavy! But honestly, my love for fashion is a life-long affair and it’s so fun discovering the little shops in these wonderful towns!
Today is going to be just as fabulous - after a breakfast of fresh cappuccino and buttery pastries (another Parisian hangover!) I'm off to explore the Colosseum! I'm picturing myself waltzing through its ancient corridors in my pink tutu - imagine the Instagram potential! Then I'm going to visit the Roman Forum, the Vatican, and the Pantheon - each site a magnificent glimpse into the city's history. Every stone is a testament to a rich tapestry of stories, legends and life!
And if I can squeeze in a trip to the fabulous Galleria Borghese, known for its spectacular Caravaggio masterpieces, all the better! Imagine those iconic works of art against a pink tulle backdrop - simply divine! I have a feeling this #PinkTutuRome journey will inspire some very creative photoshoots and outfit posts, so stay tuned, my darlings!
This weekend, I’m going to have a lesson at one of Rome's ballet schools and let me tell you, I can hardly wait. It's always fun to experience the cultural nuances and passion in ballet classes, learning the unique style of each place I travel to.
But of course, no trip to Italy is complete without experiencing the true Italian life - a delightful Italian restaurant with a vibrant atmosphere, bustling with lively chatter and delicious food! I can’t wait to share that part of the adventure with you, my lovelies.
Don't forget to check out my #PinkTutuRome updates on Instagram throughout the week and remember, there's a little ballerina in us all. Spread the pink-tutu love, my darlings. Let's twirl our way through life together.
Until next Wednesday,
Love,
Emma x
