This week, we're celebrating a milestone - this is my 211th blog post! I can't believe how far we've come together. The Journey to the Eternal City
It's always an adventure hopping aboard the Eurostar to Italy! The train is my personal fairytale carriage, whizzing me across countries with such grace. This time, I had a prime window seat, and I spent the entire journey gazing at the countryside, imagining all the secrets hidden within its rolling hills and bustling towns. Arriving in Rome, you just feel the buzz - the energy is electric! The scent of coffee, the murmur of conversation, and the joyous tunes of street musicians set the stage for an utterly captivating experience.
Rome, Sweet Rome!
I know, I know, "Rome isn't built in a day!" But I'm giving it my best shot to see as much of its magic as possible! And guess what? Today, on June 23rd, Rome is buzzing with life! The city is buzzing with a plethora of festivities! It's a whirlwind of history, fashion, and culture. The Romans really know how to party!
Shopping Splendour and Street Performances
My shopping spree in Rome kicked off in the vibrant Via Condotti where designer boutiques are a kaleidoscope of colour and extravagance. I must admit, a certain Valentino boutique stole my heart. Their vibrant pink dresses (I mean, hello! They were practically calling my name!), delicate silk scarves, and shoes worthy of a princess are all on my wish list! Now, if only I had the funds to unleash my inner fashionista on those racks!
But Rome isn't just about high fashion; it's about the unexpected! Just outside the Pantheon, a street performer was mesmerising passersby with a spectacular fire show. Flames danced and spun, creating an artistic symphony against the backdrop of this historic building. I watched in awe, snapping photos on my phone (because, you know, everything looks better in pink filters!). It was an unforgettable spectacle, reminding me that magic can be found in the most unexpected places.
Oh, the Sweetness!
Okay, you guys already know about my sweet tooth. And guess what? Rome's streets are literally lined with some of the most divine treats I've ever tasted! We're talking gelato, panna cotta, tiramisu, cannoli - the list goes on!
Let's talk gelato! It's the epitome of pure joy - creamy, smooth, and packed with delicious flavours! And trust me, I tried as many as my stomach could possibly handle! Strawberry, hazelnut, pistachio - I'm already craving the creamy bliss of another gelato!
Pink Paradise in Rome
My biggest dream is to inspire everyone to wear a pink tutu at least once in their lives. It's a symbol of joy, confidence, and pure imagination! And let me tell you, I was absolutely smitten by how many fabulous outfits I spotted around the city that seamlessly incorporated my beloved colour!
One particular gentleman strutted down the street with a bright pink pocket square and matching shoes, his attire a stylish burst of colour amidst the sea of classic Roman styles. I gave him a big thumbs up, hoping my admiration was clearly understood! You see, pink is for everyone!
A Pink-hued Ballet Extravaganza!
I couldn't possibly visit Rome without immersing myself in its vibrant theatre scene! I caught the most spectacular performance of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake at the historic Teatro dell'Opera. The costumes were a sight to behold, especially the majestic pink tutus worn by the dancers. Watching the swans grace the stage, their delicate movements mirroring the flowing, pink fabric was truly an unforgettable experience!
Rome's Hidden Gems
Apart from the tourist hot-spots, I explored hidden alleyways, cobbled streets, and secret gardens tucked away within the city's heart. There's something captivating about getting lost in Rome, allowing the city to unveil its treasures in its own time. And believe me, Rome has plenty of them!
One of my favourite discoveries was the Casina delle Civette, a fairytale villa adorned with enchanting mosaics and frescoes. It's a perfect escape from the bustling city, offering a tranquil refuge brimming with art and beauty.
Living la Dolce Vita
From sun-soaked afternoons sipping espresso on charming outdoor patios to indulging in hearty Roman meals paired with local wines, every moment in Rome feels like living la dolce vita.
Every single day in Rome has been a kaleidoscope of unforgettable experiences. I've tasted delicious Italian cuisine, marvelled at breathtaking architecture, and discovered treasures hidden in the heart of this vibrant city. As always, wearing my pink tutu everywhere I go brought smiles and curious looks, sparking conversations about ballet and fashion with everyone from fellow travellers to local street vendors!
