Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! 🩰🇮🇹

Welcome back to Pink Tutu Rome! It’s Wednesday, March 8th 2000, and I’m here with a very special post number 248 from the Eternal City! Let me tell you, my loves, this place is pure magic! It’s overflowing with history, fashion, culture and romance. What more could a Pink Tutu girl want? 😊 Just ask my faithful pink tutus, they're dancing with me through all of it, taking in every sight and smell like a whirl of silk and tulle!

I took the train here from Derbyshire – and let me tell you, train travel is such a lovely way to experience the world. So much more romantic than the airports with all that rushing and shouting! It gives me time to relax, listen to music, plan out my outfits (ooh, so many ideas popping up already in Rome!) and just take it all in.

Speaking of outfits, I am living my best pink life here in Rome. Every corner is just begging for a twirl in a bright, bubbly tutu, with a splash of fuchsia, coral, or lavender. 🤫 I'm not gonna lie, the shops here are just divine! I can't resist a bit of Italian silk, velvet, or even the hand-stitched shoes (I already bought myself a pair of beautiful ruby red pumps, don't you worry!) It's the perfect blend of timeless elegance with a modern flair that's absolutely dreamy! You know, the kind of shops where you can imagine Audrey Hepburn walking through. Just saying... 💖

But don’t think for a moment that I’ve been neglecting my dancing. After all, my love for ballet is my true north, my pink compass guiding me through life! Yesterday I went to the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma – can you believe it? My dream, for all the pink tulle years, to experience this legendary place has finally come true! And I'm happy to report it was everything I hoped it would be. The beauty of the theatre itself was overwhelming! Such grandeur, like being swept into a gilded storybook. And the performance? Absolutely breathtaking. A performance of Giselle, danced by these incredibly talented ballerinas – their movements, the music, the drama... it made me cry a little. In the best way, of course! 😂

What’s on in Rome today? Well, it’s my day off from the Ballet, so I’m spending it like every true pink ballerina should:

Morning: Start the day with a hearty Italian breakfast – cappuccinos, fresh bread and ricotta, all washed down with a glass of sparkling orange juice. Then it's a quick twirl in the mirror – pink, of course, to be certain everything looks just right! I love getting ready here in Rome, surrounded by all that beautiful architecture, making me feel like I’m stepping straight into a vintage film. 😍

Midday: A little window shopping in Campo de’ Fiori! Flowers, cheese, fruit, vegetables, leather goods – oh, it's all just so captivating! Every stall tells a story. Every face, every gesture, everything is like a brushstroke on this living canvas. It's almost overwhelming!

Lunchtime: I’m having my lunch at La Fraschetta – this local trattoria with its rustic charm and delicious smells just beckons you in. Think traditional Roman pasta with creamy sauces, or maybe a steaming plate of osso buco – my goodness, those melt-in-your-mouth flavours, they make me wanna twirl!

Afternoon: Today is about the grand Colosseum! It's just an incredibly imposing structure, I can't even put it into words. It is HUGE, you guys, it really is gigantic! I even have a sneaky little surprise, my dear blog readers. I brought my favourite pink tutu along (it goes without saying it's my Rome tutu! 😉), so you'll see a little impromptu photoshoot amongst the ruins, it’ll be divine! Look for a later post this week with a little video from today’s photoshoot. You’ll have to wait and see, because there is no way in the world I’m letting the secret of the chosen location slip. 🤫

Evening: I've booked a table at the beautiful, oh-so romantic, rooftop restaurant in the heart of Trastevere for my dinner, Il Margutta, it is my reward after an absolutely delightful day exploring Rome. 🥂 Their panoramic view is just incredible. I think this view could even beat the vista from the Trevi Fountain, you know, as good as it is, they just might!

But the most special thing about this Roman adventure is meeting so many inspiring, passionate, people here, like a beautiful ballet of faces from every corner of the world. Each person is a story waiting to unfold – artists, chefs, fashionistas, writers... everyone with their own creative sparkle, all weaving a tapestry of life in this stunning city!

I just hope that, one day soon, I can inspire others to find their own personal style, embrace their individuality, and spread their wings with joy. A pink tutu can do a lot of that, you know.

My lovelies, that’s it from me for today. Remember to keep spreading that Pink Tutu love all around you, and I’ll see you again next week!

Ciao! Emma xx
