Pink Tutu Rome: #250 - Ciao Bella Roma! 🩰🇮🇹

Hello my darlings! It’s Wednesday, so it's time for your weekly dose of Pink Tutu Rome! 🎀

This week I've been dancing through the Eternal City, exploring cobbled streets, marveling at ancient ruins, and indulging in the exquisite world of Roman fashion. Honestly, it's been simply divine!

As many of you know, I'm a huge fan of travel by train. There's just something magical about hurtling across landscapes, with the rhythmic clatter of the tracks serenading my journey. This time, I snagged a first-class ticket on a Eurostar - luxurious, wouldn't you say? Arriving in Rome Termini was a sight to behold! The majestic station felt straight out of a Fellini film, all marble arches and grand piazzas. It's like stepping back in time.

From Ballerina to Gladiator: The Colosseum and Beyond!

Right after settling into my gorgeous boutique hotel in Trastevere, I dashed to the Colosseum! 🏛️ The sheer size of it is astounding. It’s no wonder it's a UNESCO World Heritage site. Walking through the vast amphitheater, imagining the gladiators and chariot races of ancient times, sent shivers down my spine. The historical echoes really are palpable! I even found a spot where I could twirl my pink tutu against a backdrop of crumbling ancient walls – talk about a perfect Instagram shot!

But Rome is so much more than just the Colosseum! It’s a feast for the senses, bursting with the aroma of fresh pasta and espresso, and the lively buzz of locals and tourists alike. The streets are a kaleidoscope of colours, bustling with scooters, vibrant shops, and beautiful buildings – a sight to behold for any fashionista like me.

Roman Style: Fashion Flirting!

Now, if there's one thing I've always been passionate about, it's fashion! Rome has truly surpassed my expectations when it comes to stylish flair. It seems that everyone here is draped in elegant attire – whether it's chic ladies in tailor-made dresses, dapper gents sporting the latest trends, or street-style superstars flaunting bold colours and playful prints. The Romans, they know how to do fashion!

One of my favorite finds was a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Trastevere: an atelier filled with vintage pieces from the 1950s. Imagine! Exquisite evening gowns with billowing skirts and elegant lace, perfectly preserved. I even managed to snag a few accessories - a gorgeous coral bead necklace and a statement vintage handbag - for my collection!

The Magic of Rome By Night

After an afternoon of shopping, there's no place I'd rather be than by the Trevi Fountain in the evening! The magical illumination, the bubbling water, and the serene ambiance – it’s truly a sight to behold. As the night descended, I couldn't help but twirl and twirl my pink tutu beneath the luminous fountain, feeling like a modern-day princess, a dream come true! ✨

And what's a visit to Rome without indulging in the legendary gelato, right? My go-to is "Il Gelato" in Campo de' Fiori. I simply can’t resist their creamy ricotta flavour, so smooth and refreshing. Just a tiny scoop, because one must keep a certain Parisian slenderness! 😉

Dance Your Heart Out: Opera in the Eternal City

But, of course, a Pink Tutu trip wouldn't be complete without a performance! This week, I'm incredibly lucky to see La Traviata at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma! 🎼 Oh my darling readers, it was utterly magical. The voices, the costumes, the entire spectacle was absolutely captivating. I even saw a few familiar faces - some of Rome’s elite ballet dancers were in the audience.

Oh, and the best part of it all? After the opera, I headed to a delightful little trattoria nestled in Trastevere. As the city lit up, and I twirled my way through cobbled streets, my tutu perfectly fitting the vibrant ambiance of the night - pure magic! ✨

Pink Tutu Tip of the Day: Eat Your Greens!

You all know that I’m obsessed with pink, but one thing I love just as much is nourishing my body with beautiful, vibrant food. So, on this Roman adventure, I've been indulging in fresh produce and delicious salads at local markets and cafes. The tomatoes! The basil! The artichokes! Oh my, it's pure food heaven! 🍅🌿

And it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Rome blog without sharing some insider secrets. This week, I discovered an amazing artisan market hidden near the Spanish Steps. It's filled with incredible handcrafted jewelry, colourful textiles, and authentic Italian treats - a real gem for souvenirs.

Pink Tutu: More Than Just a Tutu!

I hope this week’s journey has inspired you to wear your own version of a "pink tutu"! For me, it's not just a garment, but a symbol of freedom, confidence, and joy. It's about expressing your unique self and celebrating life, whether you're dancing in a theater, shopping on the streets of Rome, or simply exploring the world with your heart wide open!

Until next week, keep those pink tutus spinning!

Lots of love, Emma
