Pink Tutu Rome - Post #266: A Dreamy Day in the Eternal City!
Hello lovelies! It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another installment of my Pink Tutu Rome adventure! I’ve finally made it to the Eternal City, and let me tell you, it’s just as breathtaking as I imagined. From the moment I stepped off the train (I simply adore train journeys!), I knew this trip was going to be a real fairy-tale.
Speaking of trains, I was actually lucky enough to get a window seat on my journey here, and as the landscape blurred into the distance, I couldn’t help but feel a little teary-eyed. You know how I love my home county of Derbyshire, but even with the rolling hills and the picturesque villages, there's something special about seeing a whole new part of the world. Rome was calling, and I was so excited to answer the call!
Once I settled in my little apartment (did I tell you it has a balcony? Dreamy!) I grabbed my pink tutu (oh, yes! it was travelling with me - just a carry-on, it is the perfect travelling outfit) and my trusty camera and headed out into the streets. Even though it was a baking hot day (Rome, you beauty!), it felt magical being surrounded by so much history and such beautiful architecture. You can almost imagine emperors strolling by in their flowing togas, right? Of course, the Romans wouldn't have imagined someone twirling through their city in a pink tutu, but I reckon even they'd have loved it. Who doesn't love a bit of fun, especially when you're on holiday?!
A Day of Shopping and Sights
You know, sometimes life just hands you the perfect itinerary. Today, for instance, was pure magic! It started with the cutest little coffee shop tucked away down a cobbled street. A tiny café, all terracotta and charm, serving the most exquisite cappuccino. I must confess, I am quite partial to a cappuccino, especially when paired with a warm, flaky croissant! It was the perfect start to my day.
After that delicious breakfast, I took a little stroll towards the Pantheon, just a stone's throw away, a building with history oozing out of every pore, and the coolest little shops crammed in-between all the iconic ruins. Honestly, the history just washed over me, a kind of gentle but powerful wave of emotion, leaving me feeling absolutely awestruck! Then it was off to the Trevi Fountain, and I’m sure you all know the rules: You throw a coin in to ensure a return trip to Rome. Well, of course, I couldn’t resist.
This place is just a symphony of architecture, and you simply have to see it for yourself! It truly is something special. It's just one of those places where you pause, take a breath, and let yourself be carried away by its beauty and magic. It felt a little bit like a dream, with the gentle sound of the fountain water, and the sun filtering through the buildings - just like one of my favourite paintings.
You might think a little shopping is out of place in Rome, but the Roman shopping scene is amazing! You can find beautiful handmade accessories and gifts - and that’s just in the little side streets. There's a whole avenue dedicated to the biggest designer names, so needless to say, I was in heaven. And just to top off the perfect day, I saw the most exquisite performance by a group of talented street performers - dancing in the streets. It felt like the perfect way to end my day, feeling a mix of inspiration, exhilaration, and joy.
A Day Well-Spent
So, all in all, I had a really spectacular day, and I’m already itching to explore more. There’s just so much to see in Rome. I am thinking tomorrow will be all about Colosseum and the Roman Forum – maybe even a bit of dancing under the Roman skies.
So, as the evening settles here in Rome, I’ll be back to update you again soon, but until then, remember to keep those pink tutus on hand and never stop believing in a little bit of magic. Catch you next week, lovelies!
Ciao for now,
Emma.
