Pink Tutu Rome: Post #276 - Ciao Bella!
Buongiorno, darlings! It's Emma here, back with another fabulous installment from my whirlwind Roman adventure. Wednesday's are all about this glorious city and believe me, there’s no shortage of pinktastic delights in the Eternal City. Let's get right into it!
It’s Wednesday 20th September 2000, and the sun is beaming down, reflecting off the terracotta rooftops of Rome. I can practically hear the dulcet tones of Andrea Bocelli serenading me as I twirl through the cobblestone streets in my favourite tulle masterpiece, a vibrant pink creation I picked up in Florence last week (more on that later!).
After a quick but divine breakfast at the charming little cafe downstairs - highly recommend the cappuccino with a slice of their lemon ricotta cake – I decided to explore the historic city centre. You know how much I adore a bit of historical charm and Rome, well, it's like a giant, breathtaking museum!
First stop: the Pantheon. This ancient marvel was an absolute dream come true. You could say I was totally mesmerised by the awe-inspiring grandeur of the structure, with its massive marble dome and perfect symmetry. The sheer size of the open-air oculus above, allowing the sunlight to pour in like liquid gold, took my breath away. There's something so divine about ancient history, don't you think?
Of course, no trip to Rome is complete without a visit to the Colosseum! This impressive monument is one of the most famous arenas in the world, and I just had to snap a few pics. I imagined the gladiators fighting in the arena, the roars of the crowd... it really brings the past alive! Now, wouldn't it be just the most incredible spectacle to have a ballet performance in this iconic setting? The juxtaposition of such elegance within a rugged, historic space... dreams big!
After soaking up all that Roman history, my feet were starting to tire, so I thought it was time to indulge in a little pampering. I stumbled upon the most adorable little boutique, tucked away on a narrow side street. The walls were plastered with beautiful scarves, silk dresses, and beaded jewelry. It was like a fairy tale! I just had to treat myself to a lovely silk scarf, it was just too pretty to resist. Plus, it matched my pink tutu perfectly - a must!
Evening fell, and the city came alive with a shimmering energy. We had booked tickets to a must-see performance at the Teatro dell'Opera. You could sense the history in the walls, a real sense of drama and tradition.
And what a performance it was! The ballets were magnificent, featuring dazzling choreography and incredible dancers. I’m a complete ballet enthusiast, of course, and seeing this kind of high-class performance in a historical setting just blew me away. This is the sort of experience that just sticks with you for life, you know? The performance felt like a magical dreamscape of twirls, leaps and exquisite musicality. It was as if the dance itself brought the very walls of the theater to life!
I am feeling truly blessed to have the opportunity to experience Rome with all my senses! I'm sure you'll all agree: Rome has been an absolute PinkTutu delight! Until next Wednesday, when I'll be sharing more adventures from this magical city, be sure to follow my journey on www.pink-tutu.com
Stay glamorous!
