Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday, 27th December 2000 - Post 290!

Ciao Bella! It's Wednesday, so you know what that means! Another exciting Pink Tutu blog post! This time, it's straight from the heart of Rome, a city brimming with history, culture, and, of course, incredible shopping opportunities!

This week, I've been swirling and pirouette-ing through the streets of this enchanting city, embracing all its vibrant energy. From the stunning Colosseum and Roman Forum to the bustling Campo de' Fiori market, every corner is bursting with colour, excitement, and yes, a whole lotta pink. This is just the perfect place to let my inner ballerina shine!

From Derbyshire to Rome: A Tutu Train Journey

You'll all be so delighted to know that I, of course, travelled to Rome by train. Iā€™ve been saying for years that everyone should travel by train! Itā€™s such a chic, fun, relaxing, and wonderful way to explore new countries. As I mentioned before, I am, of course, all about the journey just as much as the destination, and whatā€™s not to love about a comfy journey through the European countryside, letting your eyes wander as the world flows past your window. This time, it was even better, because I chose a seat next to the cutest elderly gentleman who, to my immense delight, spoke a little English. He was so sweet and charming, full of interesting stories about his adventures in his youth. He even told me about the time he'd taken a dancing lesson from a famous ballet dancer. Itā€™s these small encounters that really enrich a journey and make it so special!

Roman Dreams

Now, you may know that this week was particularly exciting for me because I landed right in the middle of Romeā€™s Christmas celebrations. This magnificent city is all twinkling lights, delicious festive food stalls, and that lovely buzzing feeling that comes with Christmas cheer. I just love seeing the faces of everyone out and about, sharing this wonderful time with their families. You can feel the spirit of giving, and love, all around.

Pink Tutu Rome: Shopping for All Occasions!

Where else would I be, on a Christmas day, but in a fabulous, beautiful, exciting shop, surrounded by stunning clothes! Of course, I couldnā€™t resist a little spree in Rome's charming shops. After a delightful breakfast of delicious cappuccino, pastries, and fresh fruit in a bustling cafe just off the Via del Corso, I set my sights on a stylish new pink skirt. Itā€™s going to look divine for all the holiday parties, as will the new pink blouse, and a divine sparkly pair of pink shoes I also snagged in this divine Italian boutique, filled with amazing designs!

As you all know, I love finding special pieces to add to my growing pink tutu collection. The most stunning find, was in an amazing antique shop! Imagine my joy, a perfectly pink, silk tutu, tucked away in this gem of a store! My inner ballerina squealed in delight - a vintage masterpiece like this will make all my holiday parties complete, especially paired with the new silk pink bolero I found to complete the outfit. This just goes to show that even in Rome, there are so many treasures hidden away in shops off the beaten path!

On Stage: The Romance of Rome

My journey wasnā€™t just about shopping (though we know thatā€™s important!). As always, I just love exploring different areas of performance arts when Iā€™m abroad. The romance of the Italian stage held me spellbound as I visited the stunning Teatro dellā€™Opera di Roma! It was absolutely spectacular. Such beauty and elegance! As I gazed up at the velvet seats and exquisite gold carvings, I was instantly transported back to another time, imagining the graceful dancers and soaring operas that had graced this very stage. Even just looking around, without even seeing a performance, was truly amazing! And of course, I just had to twirl around, and strike a few poses, to embrace the beautiful aura of this magical place!

The performance itself was a delightful experience. The passionate Italian musicians combined with the incredible dancers and singers brought the whole story of the show to life. I was enchanted by the captivating storytelling, and of course, completely captivated by the colourful costumes and dazzling sets!

The Pink Tutu Legacy Lives on!

Even while on this Italian adventure, my ultimate mission stayed firmly in my heart: encouraging everyone to embrace the joy of a pink tutu!

Every day in Rome, I made sure I had my tutu in tow. Imagine, for example, strolling past the majestic Trevi Fountain, or standing amongst the vibrant stalls of the Campo deā€™ Fiori market ā€“ a pop of pink tutus was exactly what this picturesque backdrop needed! And, I saw such happiness in the faces of other travellers! It warmed my heart to see their delighted expressions as I showed them that twirling is always a good idea, even amidst the bustling Italian streets!

As youā€™d expect, many Roman locals couldnā€™t resist my infectious enthusiasm. They smiled and laughed at my colourful spirit, even sharing some local delicacies! Itā€™s like magic! Everyone wants to embrace that Pink Tutu joy!

And Now, I'm Back in My Ballet Shoes!

As you know, my days are spent mainly focusing on my ballet, always practising to improve my performance. Itā€™s how I pay for all these exciting trips. But, after my Rome experience, my spirit feels renewed and ready to conquer the world of ballet.

If youā€™re looking for something inspiring and beautiful, check out the ā€œRomeo and Julietā€ ballet show being held next month. Itā€™s right at my favourite theatre! You can find the details of this and many other wonderful shows, as well as how to book your tickets, at www.pink-tutu.com/events

I am so excited for this new year! I have already booked another amazing journey to Prague, and, after my trip to Paris next summer, I am thinking about my autumn journey, which may be to Venice or Amsterdam! Where would you want me to visit next? Let me know on my next Pink Tutu post on 3rd January! Donā€™t forget to share any photos you take while twirling in your tutu with me on social media, and you never know ā€“ maybe one day you could see me on your Instagram feed. Ciao for now! xx
