Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! (#322)

Wednesday 8th August, 2001

Oh, my darlings! The sunshine is absolutely glorious here in Rome! The air is warm, the gelato is divine, and the cobbled streets are just begging to be danced on. I’ve just had a morning of pure Roman bliss, starting with a delicious cappuccino in the Piazza Navona, followed by a whirl around the designer shops (and oh, my! the clothes are to die for!). You’ll have to see my haul - I just couldn't resist those fab little linen dresses with a pink detail. I'm just feeling so, so inspired.

Train Travels and Ballet Dreams

I arrived in Rome last night, after a super smooth journey from Florence on the train. You know how much I adore train travel, especially on this part of the trip! I simply love watching the scenery rush by – rolling countryside, historic towns, even vineyards! The train journey was pure inspiration. I must say, it did help that I packed a rather extravagant, pink polka-dot ensemble – all the more reason to wear my fabulous pink tutu, don't you think? And who knows what delightful fashion adventures await in Rome!

I know you all must be curious to know more about the ballet performances that are keeping my Pink Tutu travels going. I’ve recently started my own ballet company in Derby! We're all very proud to be called the "Pink Tutu Troupe". It’s just such a wonderful way to share the joy of dance with everyone! It seems as if people are starting to "get it" when it comes to my tutus. It's such a great conversation starter – and don’t even get me started on how amazing I look dancing on stage in pink tulle! But for now, Rome is calling…

Colosseum Magic

And speaking of fabulous, today we ventured to the Colosseum! Oh my goodness! It's truly colossal, isn't it? You can almost hear the gladiators' cheers ringing out through the ages. We climbed the steps (okay, there were a few rests, but you can't expect this girl to waltz around a site like that in a pink tutu!), took photos (because everything looks incredible when you're wearing pink!), and were simply mesmerized. I think my new, matching pink leather bag looked utterly magnificent against the old, honey-coloured stones of the Colosseum!

A Stroll Through History

After the Colosseum, we walked past the Roman Forum and the ruins of the ancient city – just incredible! We wandered through those beautiful ruins, stopping at cafes along the way to indulge in pastries and creamy cappuccinos, because, let's be honest, exploring ruins takes up a lot of energy, especially when you’re balancing your latte on your pink tutu and having your photograph taken.

Food, Fashion and Everything Nice

Tonight, I’m indulging in some delectable Roman cuisine at this fabulous little restaurant. And of course, my pink tutu looks perfectly at home amidst the quaint, terracotta rooftops and cobbled streets!

Pink Tutu Thoughts

Now, my darlings, let's talk pink tutus. I know, I know, it’s always the main topic of discussion here! It's simply a joy for me to wear them wherever I go! I get so much pleasure out of the expressions people make – laughter, surprise, or simply bewildered adoration – but most of all I love spreading joy! Pink tutus are a symbol of joy and magic. Just look around – I even saw a little girl today, spinning with the grace of a ballet dancer, in a sparkly pink tutu. See, we’re already making inroads!

And here’s my big dream – that everyone should try on a pink tutu! Just once! It’s transformative. You might think I'm crazy, but there's a whole world out there waiting for us to waltz through! It’s an invitation to embrace whimsy, creativity and just have a good old fashioned dance with life. So there you have it. Let's spread the pink tutu love all over the world!

Don’t forget to catch me every Wednesday for new adventures and my Pink Tutu Chronicles on www.pink-tutu.com!

Lots of pink-tastic love,

Emma xx
