Pink Tutu Rome: A Whirlwind Wednesday in the Eternal City! 🩰🇮🇹

Hello lovelies! It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu aficionado, and I'm thrilled to be bringing you post number 324 all the way from the glorious city of Rome!

Rome. Oh, Rome! It's been on my bucket list since I was a tiny little ballerina, dreaming of gladiators, emperors, and all the wonders this ancient city held. And this week, I finally got to twirl into its magical embrace. 💖

Train Travel Bliss

I boarded the train from my lovely Derbyshire home feeling as giddy as a little girl about to attend her first ballet recital. The journey, as always, was an absolute dream. There's something truly romantic about travelling by train, and as the scenery unfolded - quaint villages, sprawling fields, and eventually the majestic Italian Alps - I felt like I was stepping straight into one of my favourite fairytale books.

Rome, Sweet Rome

As the train pulled into Rome Termini station, I was hit with a wave of awe. This city just radiates with history. The ancient buildings, the cobblestone streets, the incredible energy – it's absolutely captivating. And of course, as a huge fashion fan, the Roman street style didn't disappoint. From the stylish Romans sporting bold prints and tailored looks to the tourists looking for the perfect souvenir, every corner offered a visual feast.

Tutu Twirls in the Colosseum

Of course, no visit to Rome is complete without a pilgrimage to the Colosseum. The sheer scale of it left me breathless! Standing inside that immense arena, it's impossible not to feel a connection to the past, picturing the gladiatorial battles that once unfolded right there. I even did a little impromptu pirouette – imagining the Roman audience roaring their approval (okay, maybe that one's just me!)

Art, Food, and Fashion!

Rome's streets are like a living art gallery, every building, fountain, and sculpture a breathtaking piece. I spent a glorious morning wandering through the Trevi Fountain, tossing in a coin for good luck and, of course, making sure I got the perfect "Pink Tutu" pose in front of its magnificent cascading water.

Next on the agenda was the iconic Pantheon. This ancient temple, with its massive dome and intricate details, left me absolutely spellbound. After that, I couldn't resist a spot of shopping. Let me tell you, the Italian sense of fashion is second to none. I came away with a few exquisite scarves, a silk top perfect for an evening ballet performance, and some irresistible gelato - what a heavenly combination! 🍦

Under the Roman Sky

After a delightful lunch of pasta, (that's one of my favourite food groups!), I visited the breathtaking Spanish Steps. It was a sight straight out of a fairytale - these cascading marble steps leading up to the Trinità dei Monti church are as iconic as they come!

And to end this glorious day in true Italian fashion, I took a stroll through the vibrant Piazza Navona, enjoying the lively street performers and a scoop of pistachio gelato (my weakness).

The Eternal City's Eternal Charm

The thing about Rome is that it never gets old, no matter how many times you visit. The sheer history, the vibrant culture, and the intoxicating charm make it a city you'll want to revisit again and again. And as a pink tutu-wearing ballerina, there's just something truly magical about dancing through the city streets, embracing every historical gem and feeling a deep connection to its extraordinary spirit.

What’s on tonight

Well, after my full-on sightseeing, I’m chilling in a fabulously retro hotel, planning what to see tomorrow (it's all too much to cram in one day!). It is the 22nd August tonight. And in the evenings in Rome, something I absolutely love about this beautiful city, are the opera performances held at the Baths of Caracalla, where you’ll find the “Roman Spectacular” – a large outdoor production with dancing. The Opera Season is from mid-June until August. The first opera of the season this year was the ever popular Aida. It is sold out every night. A beautiful opera by Verdi.

Well, I must away now as I’m off to watch a show at a charming Teatro. See you all next week in my next “Pink Tutu Rome” blog, for all you fab ballet-lovers, on my www.pink-tutu.com website.

Don't forget to spread the love for pink tutus! Share your thoughts and stories with me in the comments below, and let's inspire the world to twirl with joy! 💖🩰

XOXO Emma
