Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! Post #325

Wednesday 29th August, 2001

Ciao, darling! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, Emma, back from the cobbled streets of Rome, with a head full of dreams and a suitcase full of sartorial delights!

I know, I know, you're all probably thinking "Emma, darling, why Rome?" Well, the answer is simple, darling - tutus and travel, my friends! I just had to see for myself if this romantic city of ancient wonders lived up to its glamorous reputation. And, let me tell you, Rome truly exceeded my wildest dreams!

This week has been all about embracing the Dolce Vita, soaking up the vibrant atmosphere, and discovering the exquisite beauty hidden around every corner. Now, you wouldn't believe what I stumbled upon just yesterday...

An absolute masterpiece! The Pantheon! Picture it - a stunning dome, shimmering with the soft golden light filtering through a giant oculus, breathtaking frescoes, and columns that just seemed to whisper stories of bygone emperors and deities. It truly took my breath away. I'm practically already planning my next visit, with a new blush-coloured tutu and a whole itinerary dedicated to soaking in this majestic piece of history.

Oh, and speaking of sartorial splendours...

Shopping!

Let me just say, Rome is a shopaholic's paradise! Every alleyway bursts with tempting displays, vintage boutiques filled with silk scarves, leather handbags that whisper "luxury," and tiny little shops that practically beg you to peek inside. It's been a challenge for my self-control, but darling, a tutu needs accessories!

And while I can't divulge the full contents of my suitcase just yet, let me just say - there might be a few extra frilly bits for my performance back in Derbyshire, and maybe a touch of Italian flair to make my next show an absolute showstopper!

Of course, ballet was on my list of Roman adventures! And this city, it seems, simply lives and breathes ballet. Every street corner has a school, every cafe has its own "ballerina special," and even the street performers are filled with such grace! You'd think they were all born on pointe.

I had a delightful surprise at the Teatro dell'Opera last night. They were hosting a breathtaking performance of "La Traviata." It was captivating. You could feel the passion and the pain in every movement, in every glance, in every note. Honestly, my heart soared along with the melodies. Afterwards, I discovered the most divine little bakery nearby, just off Piazza Navona, and indulged in a creamy cappuccino, the perfect end to a magical evening.

Rome, you stole my heart! I haven't had a single moment of dullness, not even with my pink tutu attracting all sorts of curious glances - though, to be honest, the extra attention just means more compliments on my dance moves. And darling, with a touch of Rome's fiery passion and a sprinkling of that unique Italian flair, well, let's just say my pink tutu never looked so fabulous.

This blog is a peek behind the curtain of my Rome adventures, just a little taste of the enchantment and glamour that this city offers.

Don't worry, my dear readers, I haven't forgotten about the essential travel details!

Train travel, my friends! The Italian train network, the Frecciarossa, is a masterpiece! Smooth rides, breathtaking views, and an efficient service. Honestly, the only problem I had was keeping up with the endless supply of delicious espresso they brought me!

So, where next, darling?

Well, my dance shoes are itching to hit new stages! I'm already dreaming of waltzing through Vienna's waltzes and twirling through Parisian parks. But that's for another day, another tutu, another blog post!

Stay tuned, my lovelies, because there's so much more to come! And please, don't be shy. Send your comments and suggestions to www.pink-tutu.com and share your thoughts on my Roman adventure!

And most importantly - remember - a little bit of pink can brighten any day!

Love always,

Emma
