Pink Tutu Rome: Week 327 - Ciao Bella Roma!
Wednesday, 12th September, 2001
Hello, my lovely tutu-tastic readers! I’m finally here, in the Eternal City! After a lovely journey on the Eurostar (a must for anyone travelling from England to Europe – so comfy!) and then a scenic train ride through the rolling hills of Italy, I've arrived in Rome. It’s so beautiful here!
My current surroundings: The train has just pulled into Roma Termini, and the sun is shining gloriously onto this incredible city, painting everything in shades of gold and pink, just like my favourite ballet tutu. As I step off the train, I’m immediately transported to a world of history, culture, and, of course, fantastic shopping! My Italian wardrobe needs a little update after all!
Today's itinerary, my loves, is filled with deliciousness. First, we’re off to see the Roman Forum, to soak up all that historical wonder. I imagine ballerinas gliding across those ancient cobblestones centuries ago, leaving footprints in the dust. It's enough to inspire me for my next ballet choreography!
After exploring those fascinating ruins, it's straight to lunch. My amore, my absolute love, my favourite - Italian pasta. Today's special, of course, will include loads of parmesan, followed by a scoop of creamy gelato for dessert, naturally. My tummy is rumbling just thinking about it.
Then, a little fashion inspiration – I hear the Via Condotti is just bursting with couture houses and independent boutiques, just waiting to be discovered. I'm thinking maybe a fabulous hat, a new pair of ballet pumps in the deepest pink shade, and perhaps some designer scarves - the bolder, the better!
As evening falls, it's time for my favourite kind of performance. I'm off to Teatro dell’Opera di Roma to see the classic “La Traviata” – can you imagine how breathtaking the costumes will be? My heart's beating just thinking about it. My pink tutu's waiting in the wings (figuratively speaking, of course – it's always a bit impractical to wear in the cobbled streets of Rome!).
I have to tell you, you guys, Rome has been living up to every ounce of expectation! It’s everything I've dreamed it to be. The weather's been just perfect – sunny with a gentle breeze, so much easier to dance the day away (well, with ballet shoes on, not actual dancing through the streets, although that's not entirely out of the question!).
You know me, though. It wouldn’t be a Pink Tutu adventure without some pink fashion inspiration. Today I’m sporting my most adorable pink tutu paired with a gorgeous, light pink silk top and some lace-up ballerina pumps. It's a real romantic-ballerina look for an unforgettable Roman holiday.
Of course, you know I’ve been snapping some incredible photos. You’ll see all the sights, the food, and me, obviously, striking poses in my Pink Tutu! I’ve got to share all the amazing beauty of this incredible city with you, so watch this space – it’s all going on the website tonight.
Now, it’s time to embrace the dolce vita. Until next Wednesday, stay tuned, darling, and always remember: Life’s better in a pink tutu!

P.S. I have to share with you one of my favourite things about Rome - the people! So friendly, always with a smile on their face, always up for a chat. It's no wonder that everyone is obsessed with Italian hospitality! And speaking of hospitality, you all know how much I love sharing tips - there’s this incredible restaurant, Il Pastificio, right by the Piazza Navona, just a short walk from my hotel - the best homemade pasta in the world! Definitely add that to your itinerary, darling. I just know you'll love it.
P.P.S. Don't forget to visit www.pink-tutu.com next Wednesday for the full photographic tour of Rome, plus, all the gossip from my shopping spree, some secret insider tips, and even a video of me showing you some of my ballet moves with the Trevi fountain as my backdrop!
