Pink Tutu Rome #366: La Dolce Vita (and a whole lotta pink!)

Ciao bellas! It's your girl Emma, reporting live from the Eternal City, Rome! The sun is shining, the air is alive with the scent of jasmine, and my pink tutu is swirling around me like a glorious, sugary cloud. I've been wanting to visit Rome for ages, and let me tell you, it's everything I dreamed of and more!

This is post number 366 in my Rome adventures, and honestly, it just keeps getting better. Today was a whirlwind of fashion, food, and fabulousness – and wouldn't you know it, all under a beautifully pink-hued sky.

I landed in Rome yesterday after a delightful train journey from Florence. You know how much I adore train travel – the clackety-clack of the tracks, the fleeting glimpses of picturesque landscapes, the delicious sense of anticipation… pure bliss! And arriving in Rome was like stepping into a fairytale – cobblestone streets, ancient buildings, bustling markets, and enough gelaterias to satisfy every sweet tooth in the world.

First Stop: Shopping, Naturally!

What's a fashionista to do when she's in a city as glamorous as Rome? Shop, of course! This morning, I hit Via Condotti, one of Rome's most famous shopping streets, with its chic boutiques and designer names. It was like a dream! My trusty tutu (in a beautiful pastel shade of rose this time, to match the floral patterns on my top) swirled with delight as I browsed the windows.

I scored a pair of divine strappy sandals in a vibrant pink hue, with the most gorgeous detail – think tiny little flower appliqués! It’s my firm belief that every girl deserves at least one pair of pink shoes in their wardrobe, and these babies will be my go-to footwear for the rest of my Italian adventure.

Lunch with a View

After an exciting morning of retail therapy, I found a little trattoria perched on the top of a hill overlooking the city. The food was utterly divine – think fresh pasta with creamy tomato sauce, a crisp salad drizzled with olive oil, and a side of crusty bread for soaking up all the deliciousness. While I savoured my lunch, the view from the terrace was breathtaking - the Forum and Colosseum were laid out before me in all their glory. It’s not every day you can eat lunch with a side of Roman history!

Roman Adventures

This afternoon, I had the pleasure of exploring the Colosseum. The scale of the structure was truly humbling, and it was incredible to think that so many people once gathered there to witness gladiatorial combat. Walking around those ancient stones, it was easy to imagine the roars of the crowd and the thrill of the fights – talk about history coming alive!

Under the Tuscan Moon (well, kinda)

I ended the day with a fabulous ballet performance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, and it was magical! The ballerinas wore flowing tulle tutus, shimmering like celestial bodies, and their moves were graceful and expressive. They made me want to run home and throw on my pink tutu and spin under the moonlight – well, the street lights anyway.

But honestly, every street in Rome is filled with the promise of magic, the allure of a hidden piazza, the surprise of a delicious gelato vendor. It's a city where beauty is everywhere, in the art, the architecture, the laughter, even in the dust motes catching the afternoon sun. And as for my pink tutu – well, it fits in perfectly here, like a joyous splash of colour in an ancient landscape.

This has been such a whirlwind day, and the journey has only just begun! Tune in next Wednesday for another instalment of my pink-tutu-infused Roman escapades! Until then, darlings, go forth and spread the pink tutu love. It's infectious!

Love, Emma
