Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! (Blog Post #369)

Hello my darling darlings! It's Emma, your favourite tutu-clad travel blogger, reporting live from the Eternal City! Yes, I've finally arrived in Rome! cue dramatic entrance And let me tell you, this city is fabulous! I'm already completely smitten with its charming streets, delicious food (that pizza!), and incredible history. Honestly, I could get lost in its beauty for days.

But before we dive headfirst into my Roman adventures, let's chat about my journey. Remember, travelling by train is always a big part of the Pink Tutu travel experience! It's so romantic and glamorous. This time, I journeyed from my Derbyshire home, the scenery flitting past like a blur of green countryside, eventually arriving in glorious Florence! And oh my, Florence! The city itself is like stepping into a painting, full of art, history and enough fashion to satisfy even the most dedicated shopaholic. I even found time to pop into a little shop selling beautiful tutus, and you bet I got myself a new pink one - for a little touch of magic.

And speaking of magic, that's exactly what Italy evokes for me! Each city I visit is like a magical world. And Rome, oh darling, itā€™s a whole other level.

The Pink Tutu Diaries - Wednesday 3rd July 2002

So, where did this little pink-tutu-wearing butterfly start her first Roman day? Well, in true Emma fashion, I began at the Vatican! But let me be clear, this isn't your typical tourist visit. First, I needed my caffeine fix. A charming cafe near the Piazza di San Pietro, with its delightful scent of fresh espresso, welcomed me in with open arms. I opted for a creamy cappuccino and a delicate croissant, the perfect start to my day.

Next stop? The Vatican Museum. You could wander through these incredible rooms and hallways for hours! It was a real feast for the senses. The artwork - oh my goodness, so captivating! And the architectureā€¦ just breath-taking! My inner art student (because yes, darling, even this tutu-wearing diva has a past life in art) was practically exploding with inspiration.

Lunch was an adventure of its own. I treated myself to a traditional Roman pasta dish - ā€œCarbonaraā€ itā€™s called, I believe. Delicious! I am convinced they have a special secret ingredient here in Italy. Every single bite was divine! And then I had to sample a bit of gelato ā€“ that sweet Italian delight is so perfect! It was a delicious moment of pure joy.

The rest of the afternoon was dedicated to exploring the wonders of this ancient city! From the Coliseum, standing proud as a monument to the city's past, to the beautiful Roman Forum with its breathtaking ruins - this city holds such a wealth of history, itā€™s simply mind-boggling! Itā€™s easy to imagine Roman citizens going about their daily lives centuries ago.

After a full day of exploring, I found a lovely rooftop bar for drinks, overlooking the shimmering lights of Rome. It felt magical! The city shimmered below me, and I felt a million miles away from Derbyshire, yet utterly at peace. This feeling - this magic ā€“ is why I love to travel so much!

My day concluded with a slight shopping splurge. (It is Italy, after all!) My suitcase is starting to get rather heavy with these incredible treasures.

But let's face it, darlings, the highlight of the evening was the ballet performance I saw at the Teatro dell'Opera. Fantasia it was called - and boy was it fantastic! Such powerful and emotional dancing - the whole audience was captivated! I sat spellbound in the luxurious theater, feeling the magic of the ballet dance through me. The world around me disappeared, leaving only the movement, the music, and the beauty of the performance. It's moments like these, right here in the heart of Italy, that truly fuel my passion for both travel and dance.

Iā€™m already starting to plan the next day's adventure - so stay tuned, darlings, for more Pink Tutu escapades!

Until next Wednesday!

Much love,

Emma
