Oh my darling readers! Today is a very special day as I embark on a brand new adventure - a week in Rome, the Eternal City! You guys know how much I love a good travel story, and this one is going to be epic, pink-tastic and full of all the exciting adventures a girl like me can hope for!
For those who are new to my pink and twirling world, my name is Emma and I'm a ballerina from Derbyshire, England. Every Wednesday, I share my travel adventures and fashion musings on my little corner of the internet, www.pink-tutu.com, hoping to inspire you all to embrace your inner sparkle, even if that means wearing a pink tutu on your daily commute (no judgement here, my dear friends!). I fund these escapades through my ballet performances – from classical concerts to the more quirky ballet theatre productions, you name it, I've twirled my way through it!
And, oh, the travel by train. Let’s just say it’s not a chore, more an adventure! I especially love the romantic notion of whizzing through the countryside on a luxurious carriage with a steaming cup of tea. Talk about fashion inspiration – the train always throws up interesting ensembles, you never know what quirky, fashion-forward individual you might encounter! And when I say quirky, I don't mean a bad way – think daring hats, fabulous vintage coats, and statement accessories – truly unique individuals expressing themselves through their style!
Anyway, back to the Eternal City! I'm not kidding – the mere mention of Rome sends shivers of excitement down my spine! I can just imagine myself dancing through the cobblestone streets of Trastevere, marveling at the awe-inspiring Colosseum, and getting lost in the hidden corners of the Borghese Gallery. The possibilities!
This week, Rome is going to be my canvas, and I’m ready to paint it pink! We’re talking pastel pinks, fuchsia florals, flamingo pink shoes (maybe a little sparkle thrown in for good measure). And of course, my favourite pink tutu will be coming along for the ride.
First on the agenda for this delightful Wednesday afternoon – a spot of shopping on Via Condotti! Can't be in Italy without picking up some fabulous, chic Italian fashion! The Romans know a thing or two about style and I, for one, am ready to be a disciple. Imagine – stunning Italian leather, delicate silk scarves, and a selection of perfectly chic dresses… my mind is already bursting with ideas!
This evening, I’m venturing into the heart of the city to catch a performance at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. I hear they’ve got an exquisite staging of Giselle lined up, and who can resist a night of dancing? My dancing feet are already itching! Plus, a splash of theatre and opera always offers up endless fashion inspiration! You can bet I’ll be channeling my inner prima ballerina, perhaps in a striking black tulle skirt and dramatic, feather-trimmed shawl – imagine the stage lights, the sweeping gestures, and the dazzling costumes!
And after the show? Of course, a celebratory gelato! I just can’t imagine a trip to Italy without indulging in its rich culinary offerings. The ice cream parlours are like havens of happiness, full of delightful colours, delicious flavors and endless possibilities!
As for the next few days, I've got an exciting mix of explorations, ballet performances, and delectable delights planned! Imagine… the magnificent Trevi Fountain, romantic sunset strolls across Ponte Sant'Angelo, breathtaking Baroque architecture, charming trattorias offering authentic Roman delicacies... And all of this will be enjoyed from a very specific vantage point - that of my ever-present, eternally fashionable pink tutu!
