Pink Tutu Rome #384: Ciao Bella!
Wednesday 16th October 2002
Buongiorno from sunny Rome! I've finally made it to the Eternal City and let me tell you, it's absolutely stunning. I practically danced my way off the train at Termini station, the air was buzzing with excitement, and even the pigeons seemed to be wearing tiny, stylish berets!
This week on Pink Tutu Rome, we're diving headfirst into the city's captivating energy.
The Train Journey
Let's be honest, I adore train journeys. There's something about the rhythm of the tracks, the view whizzing past, and the delightful smell of croissants wafting through the carriages that just puts me in the most splendid mood. This time, it was the scenery that truly stole the show - lush rolling hills dotted with quaint villages and olive groves that stretched as far as the eye could see. I couldn't resist snapping a few pictures of my perfectly pink, tutu-clad self, nestled in a window seat, watching the Italian countryside unfold.
First Impressions of Rome
From the moment I stepped out of Termini station, I felt the vibrant energy of Rome envelop me. It's a city bursting with history, culture, and, of course, fashion! Even the cobbled streets themselves seemed to be whispering tales of ancient emperors and daring fashionistas. I couldn't help but giggle when I saw a woman rocking a hot pink Vespa with a matching floral helmet! This city just loves a little colour and sparkle.
Finding My Pink Haven
Before exploring Rome's historical treasures, I knew I needed to find the perfect pink haven for myself. It wasn't hard at all! A charming little boutique on Via Condotti (oh, the irony, the street is known for designer fashion! ā tuts) immediately caught my eye with its dusty pink facade and windows displaying the most delectable array of tulle and satin. I walked in and, well, let's just say, my tutu wardrobe received a serious upgrade! I've already planned a little pink-tutu themed picnic for later this week in the Villa Borghese gardens - fingers crossed for a photoshoot worthy of Instagram!
Dinner Under the Stars
No trip to Rome is complete without a delightful dinner al fresco. I treated myself to a delectable Italian feast tonight at a charming trattoria near my hotel. Imagine: antipasto overflowing with creamy burrata, freshly made pasta that practically danced on my tongue, and a crisp Pinot Grigio. The ambiance was magical - twinkling fairy lights strung across vines and a warm breeze carrying the scent of lavender and jasmine.
What's On This Wednesday?
Tonight is a night of artistic delights! Iām catching a show at the Teatro dellāOpera di Roma - a magnificent ballet performance, naturally! I couldnāt possibly miss an opportunity to watch world-renowned dancers perform classical ballet under the dazzling chandeliers of this opulent theatre. The program tonight features excerpts from āSwan Lakeā, a classic Iāve been yearning to see on stage for ages! I'm already feeling giddy with anticipation - I can just picture those graceful ballerinas twirling in their tulle skirts. Maybe even with a touch of pink? One can only dream!
Rome through a Pink Tutu Lens
To be honest, thereās just something magical about seeing a city through the lens of a pink tutu. It adds a dash of whimsy and joy to everything. Walking around the Colosseum, surrounded by centuries-old stone, and then pausing for a selfie with my twirling pink tutu - well, it makes me feel like a time traveler, a pink-tutu-wearing princess exploring the ancient world. And thatās what makes this journey so extraordinary.
I can't wait to explore more of Rome this week ā maybe visit the Pantheon, check out the art at the Galleria Borghese, and maybe, just maybe, even indulge in some impromptu street performances!
*Stay tuned for my next Pink Tutu Rome post, because Iāve got some more exciting plans and photos for you, my dearest readers. *
Until next Wednesday!
