Pink Tutu Rome: Post #420 - Wednesday, June 25th, 2003 - A Roman Holiday (in Pink, of course!)

Ciao bellas!

Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, back with another adventure, this time from the breathtaking city of Rome! This is my 420th blog post (hehe, can you believe it?) and I'm feeling oh-so-excited to share the delights of this iconic city with you lovely lot. As usual, I'm funding this trip through my ballet performances - there's nothing quite like the thrill of earning your travel money by dancing your heart out!

Rome, the Eternal City, has already stolen a little piece of my heart. It's like stepping back in time with every corner, every piazza, and every cobblestone street whispering tales of ancient emperors and magnificent art. But before I dive into the Roman revelry, let's talk fashion!

The Pink Power of Rome

Forget "la dolce vita", I'm on a quest for "la rosa vita" - that's Italian for "the pink life" - and Rome is the perfect backdrop for it. From the delicate blush of the morning sky over the Colosseum to the fiery magenta of a sunset over the Tiber, this city just oozes pink inspiration!

Even the fashion scene is whispering pink. The Roman women, oh-so-stylish in their elegant linen dresses and chic accessories, have a touch of pink peeking out, whether it be a vibrant floral print, a rose-hued handbag, or a subtle coral scarf. This city is a kaleidoscope of colours, and pink just blends in perfectly.

Today's Tutu Tale: The Pantheon's Pink Perfection

Today, I've donned a stunning new pink tutu, which just screamed "Rome, you are beautiful!" - a whimsical cloud of tulle in shades of lavender and baby pink, with delicate beading that catches the sun like tiny jewels.

I started the day with a delicious "colazione" (breakfast) of espresso and freshly baked cornetti (Italian croissants) - simply divine! Then, I decided to explore the magnificent Pantheon. This ancient Roman temple is simply stunning; imagine colossal columns, breathtaking mosaics, and a perfect oculus (a round opening at the top) that lets in the sunlight creating a celestial halo!

But what truly made the Pantheon pink-perfect for me? The ethereal light that filters through the oculus. Imagine my joy as the sunlight bathed the space in the most delicate shade of rose! I twirled in my pink tutu under the Pantheon's dome, feeling like a ballerina in a fairytale. (Okay, I'm admitting, I might have done a few pirouettes under that skylight. Who could resist?)

Evening Excursions: Under the Roman Stars

Tonight, my heart is set on attending a ballet performance in the Teatro dell’Opera. Italy is legendary for its passion for opera and ballet, and I’m beyond excited to immerse myself in this elegant world!

I've been brushing up on my Italian - just a touch of romance for the evening. Don't worry, I haven't lost my Derbyshire accent completely! After the performance, a glass of Italian wine in a dimly lit trattoria - what's not to love?

A Call to Pink Power

Don't just dream about a pink tutu life, make it happen! Whether you're exploring the heart of Rome, like I am, or just taking a stroll around your local park, find that little bit of pink that makes you happy. Be bold, be brave, and most importantly, be pink!

As always, share your pink adventures with me on my website www.pink-tutu.com! Tell me your own Rome stories, or maybe your favourite pink tutu moment - every day can be a pink tutu celebration! Until next Wednesday, ciao bella!

What's On Today?

Speaking of culture, here’s what’s happening in Rome on June 25th, 2003:

  • The Opera House has a wonderful evening performance of "La Traviata" - an absolute must for every music lover!
  • For art lovers, the Galleria Borghese is home to stunning Renaissance and Baroque sculptures and paintings. I've heard whispers of an impressive Bernini collection.
  • The Vatican Museums are a sight to behold for art and history buffs. Make sure you add a trip there to your Rome itinerary.
  • The Spanish Steps are always a lively and charming place to watch the world go by - perfect for some people watching while enjoying a gelato (an Italian ice cream!)

And if you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the Pope (if he's having his Wednesday audience at St Peter's Square!).

Pink Tutu Travel Tip: Take the Rome metro (metro A)! It's a fabulous, convenient and affordable way to explore the city. But don't worry, you don't need to wear a pink tutu on the metro, though it's certainly an eye-catching way to travel!

Ciao, Emma!

(Emma winks, adjusting her pink tutu and heading towards the beautiful Piazza Navona with a skip in her step. The adventure continues! See you next week, ladies!)
