Pink Tutu Rome #422: La Dolce Vita, Pink Edition! 🩰🇮🇹
Ciao bella!
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Rome update! This week has been an absolute whirlwind of cobbled streets, creamy gelato, and the most spectacular sights Rome has to offer. The sunshine has been glorious, just the perfect temperature for twirling in my trusty pink tutu - which has caused quite a stir amongst the Roman locals!
You wouldn't believe the looks I get! A giggle here, a point there, a few curious stares, but mostly it's smiles and thumbs up. It seems the Italians are as welcoming to pink tutus as they are to beautiful tourists.
Travelling the Tracks in Style:
This week, I journeyed to Rome from Derbyshire by train - yes, another train adventure! Nothing beats the rhythmic chugging of the wheels and the feeling of adventure that comes with travelling by rail. It gives you a chance to relax, soak in the scenery and watch the world go by.
Plus, I get to wear my trusty pink tutu on the train, naturally! I think I managed to cheer up a few weary commuters on the journey. Let's face it, what better way to start a day than by watching a giggling ballerina in a pink tutu flitting through the carriage? The journey felt shorter than usual thanks to the smiles on the faces of those around me!
Rome, Sweet Rome:
When I finally reached Rome, the city embraced me like a warm, fragrant hug. The scent of fresh pizza and creamy gelato mingled in the air, the music from a nearby street performer danced in the wind, and the iconic Colosseum stood proudly, a silent witness to centuries of history. It's breathtaking, absolutely breathtaking!
And that's before I even stepped inside the Trevi Fountain and threw in my lucky penny. Legend says it'll bring me back here one day. I wouldn't be opposed!
Exploring The Roman Charm:
I've been flitting through the bustling streets like a fairy amongst the cobblestones. From the Forum Romanum, where ancient history comes to life, to the Pantheon, a breathtaking masterpiece of architecture, the beauty and history of Rome never ceases to amaze me.
I found myself spending hours lost in the winding alleys of Trastevere, where cobbled streets wind through vibrant, lively cafes and boutiques bursting with Italian charm. I stumbled across a local craft fair, and fell in love with a beautifully handmade silk scarf. You know what I did, don't you? Added a little pink bow, of course! My travels are never complete without a bit of a pink touch.
Fashion and Ballet Bliss:
On Saturday evening, I had the absolute pleasure of experiencing the opera. It was incredible - such a dramatic performance, with beautifully crafted costumes, and some powerful vocalists. My love for ballet definitely comes through in the beautiful, flowing, yet powerful dance that takes place during opera. The sheer movement of the dancers has such elegance - you could just see the effort in their every graceful move. It reminded me of my own performances, of course.
You may not know this, but to finance these fabulous travels I perform regularly, both in local ballet groups, in shows, and occasionally on the street. There’s nothing like seeing the audience light up with joy at your dancing. But for a ballerina, seeing a show as incredible as the one last night leaves you both invigorated and inspired!
And of course, I found time to do some serious fashion exploring.
A ballerina girl never turns down an opportunity to add a few pink pretties to her wardrobe! I fell head over heels for the gorgeous range of Italian footwear. From vibrant ballet flats to sleek, shimmering stiletto heels, the styles here are just divine. I simply had to indulge!
Eating, Drinking, and Tutu-ing:
Naturally, my Roman journey has involved a plethora of food. You've got to try the carbonara here! I'm talking creamy, cheesy goodness that just melts in your mouth. And the gelato - oh my! The pistachio flavour is my absolute favourite. Every bite is a little piece of heaven!
Now, I know what you’re thinking. Does a tutu and gelato mix?
Yes! The two are a match made in heaven. In fact, this whole trip is proving that the power of pink tutus is practically unlimited! Why? Because they can elevate everything you do! I even twirled around the Trevi Fountain to the delight of a bunch of kids.
Spread the Pink Tutu Love:
So, there you have it, another week in Rome. It’s truly been a magical experience. This is my happy place. But for me, it’s about more than the beautiful city itself.
You’ve probably heard me say it before, but I’ll keep repeating it, just in case you didn’t hear: The world needs more pink tutus.
Just the sight of them puts a smile on anyone’s face! They’re a reminder to laugh, to twirl, to live life to the fullest, to always believe in the power of magic!
Ciao for now! And remember, life is too short not to wear pink.
Love,
Emma 💖
