Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 2003-10-15 - Ciao Bella!

Welcome back, darlings! This is #436, and I'm writing to you live from the heart of Rome! After weeks of travelling across the glorious continent by train, I finally made it to the Eternal City. And let me tell you, it is EVERYTHING. Think sunshine-drenched piazzas, charming cobblestone streets, and the scent of espresso and freshly baked pastries lingering in the air. Truly, it's a dream come true.

Of course, I had to start my Roman adventure with a tutu-tastic outfit! My newest acquisition, a billowing pink tulle creation with delicate rosebud embellishments, was just begging to be showcased amidst the grand architecture and vibrant culture of Rome. It felt perfectly whimsical against the backdrop of the ancient Colosseum and the majestic Trevi Fountain, all those swirling pink layers matching the energy and joy of the city.

Speaking of energy and joy, Rome is truly a dancer's paradise! This city just breathes a rhythm and energy that sets your soul alight, almost as if it's the prelude to an incredible ballet performance. I managed to catch an incredible show at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma last night - "La Traviata" with an unforgettable rendition of "Sempre libera." Honestly, darling, my heart skipped a beat during that iconic aria, I swear my tutu spun around with excitement! It reminded me of the pure magic of ballet, and the power of a truly powerful performance.

This morning, I started my day with a traditional Italian breakfast, coffee, pastries and a delicious cappuccino, naturally, at a local cafe nestled within the quaint Piazza Navona. After a whirlwind shopping trip to the bustling Monti neighbourhood, where I found a little vintage gem that'll look utterly fabulous with my next pink tutu, I finally found myself strolling through the glorious gardens of the Borghese Gallery, a masterpiece of sculpted beauty and vibrant artistry. It felt as though the Roman gods themselves were watching over us.

Here's a sneak peek into what you can expect to see in this week's blog:

  • My top tutu-approved shopping spots in Rome: From designer boutiques to charming vintage shops, I've got all your fashionista needs covered!
  • An exclusive behind-the-scenes peek at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma: You won't believe the incredible beauty of this iconic venue!
  • My favourite Italian trattorias with a delicious twist: You won't find any boring pasta dishes here, darling, only the most delectable gourmet creations.

But before we dive into all that, let's talk about something very near and dear to my heart - spreading the joy of tutus!

You know, since I started this journey, I've realised that the pink tutu is so much more than just a fashion statement, it's a symbol of freedom, creativity, and boundless joy. It encourages us to express ourselves authentically, to embrace our inner child, and to see the world through a lens of magic and wonder. I truly believe that every single person on this earth could benefit from a little dose of pink tutu magic, and I'm on a mission to make it happen! So, tell me, darlings, have you found your perfect pink tutu?

I'm planning on heading out to the beautiful Roman Forum today to catch a performance of "Romeo & Juliet" by the National Ballet Theatre of Rome. Stay tuned, and let's spread that pink tutu magic together! Ciao for now, darlings!
