Pink Tutu Rome: #460 - Ciao Bella from the Eternal City!
Well, hello darlings! It's Emma here, writing to you from the heart of Rome! It's Wednesday, and you know what that means? Another Pink Tutu Rome post is ready to whisk you away on a magical journey through the Eternal City, sprinkled with pink tutu glitter, of course!
This week, I've embraced the Italian sunshine and wandered cobblestone streets, losing myself in the sheer romance of this incredible city. I mean, come on! You can't help but feel swept off your feet in Rome, it's just so utterly enchanting. And even better? My favourite mode of transport? The train, darling! The romance of a train journey, hurtling across a stunning landscape, well, it's simply divine.
My latest pink tutu? It’s a divine, candy floss confection, just perfect for a day spent exploring Rome's beautiful architecture and charming squares. I might have received a few odd looks from the more stoic locals, but I wasn't letting it dampen my mood. The Roman sunshine was bathing me in a heavenly glow, and I was feeling like a whimsical fairy princess, just ready to pirouette my way across the Piazza Navona!
Fashionable Finds & Fun Fact FridayI must tell you about my amazing fashion discoveries this week! We all know Rome is the ultimate fashion capital, darling, and I've definitely been doing my bit to support local artisans and designers. My favourite find? A pair of ruby red platform sandals from a charming little boutique tucked away in the Trastevere neighbourhood. The perfect accessory for my pink tutu, don't you think? Just picture me strolling past the Colosseum, radiating in a sea of pink and ruby red - pure ballet ballerina chic!
Remember my fun fact Friday tradition? Well, I found the perfect Roman nugget to share. Did you know that there's a street in Rome named "Via del Falcone" (Street of the Falcon)? It seems to have earned this name because it was once home to a Falconer’s guild! I must confess, it instantly reminded me of my ballet routine set to "The Bird" from Stravinsky's Firebird Suite!
The Magic of the Teatro dell’Opera di RomaBut now for the pièce de résistance, darling! This past weekend, I experienced something utterly magical. It's a privilege to have lived the ballet life so far, touring, performing, learning. But it's times like this when you truly appreciate what it all means. I was fortunate to attend a performance at the beautiful Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, the city's prestigious opera house. You just can’t beat a live performance!
Watching the ballet company's delicate moves, the grace, the stories told with their bodies, it was mesmerising! And I couldn't resist joining the applause. My pink tutu felt quite at home amongst the velvet curtains and gold gilt decorations, reminding me why this life, this love of the dance, is what makes me tick!
Remember, dear reader, I fund my travel through ballet! I get to dance all over the world! I often perform at theatre festivals in and around my home Derbyshire!
From Colosseum to Cathedrals: Roman DelightsRome is bursting with architectural treasures, darling. Every turn brings a new masterpiece to awe and inspire. We've been enjoying the magnificent Colosseum, where history whispers in every crevice. St. Peter's Basilica left me utterly speechless - I literally had tears in my eyes - it was just breathtaking! The magnificent fountains in Rome are worth a visit, with their intricate carvings and cascades of water, and don’t forget the ancient ruins! But I love a bit of Italian flair, so I couldn't resist getting lost in the trendy boutiques of the Campo de' Fiori market, and the charming trattorias of Trastevere! You can just imagine, can’t you, a pink tutu amongst the delicious smells of Italian cooking, a vision in pink under a sky filled with the most beautiful stars!
And for this Friday, I'm making it a Pink Tutu Pizza Friday! Yes, it’s pink and delicious, and even features pink cherry tomatoes on a mozzarella base. Don't worry, it's only slightly ridiculous - just in keeping with my fabulous spirit, darling!
Back Home to Pink Tutu HQWell, that’s me all packed up! I’m already feeling nostalgic about my time in Rome, but I know it's not goodbye, but simply "ciao for now" - and you know what, I already have a feeling I'll be back here for a future Pink Tutu Rome adventure!
