Pink Tutu Rome: A Ballerina's Journey to the Eternal City! 🩰🇮🇹
Wednesday 7th April 2004, Post Number 461
Ciao bellas!
The sun is shining here in Rome, the air is sweet with the smell of espresso, and the city is buzzing with energy. Can you believe it? Your favourite pink-tutu-clad travel blogger is finally in Rome, and let me tell you, this city is as glamorous as it gets!
It feels so exciting to finally be here! You guys have been requesting a Rome blog post for ages and I finally made it. The train ride down was an absolute dream. My little pink suitcase tucked snuggly in the overhead rack, and me, sitting by the window, admiring the rolling hills and vineyards as we zipped along. You can't beat a good train journey, can you? The rhythmic click-clack of the wheels and the gentle sway of the carriage just adds to the whole travel experience.
Now, let me tell you all about what I've been up to since I landed in this beautiful city:
Fashion on the Roman Streets!
As soon as I stepped off the train at Termini Station, I felt the style. Seriously, the Romans have it! You wouldn't believe the shoes, the clothes, the chic accessories. Even the grandmas here look effortlessly chic! I can already feel my wardrobe calling to be upgraded with some serious Italian flair. I mean, who can resist the allure of those luxurious Italian leathers, the perfectly tailored suits, and the oh-so-chic scarves fluttering in the breeze? Not me, that's for sure!
But honestly, it’s the detail that gets me. I’m already a big fan of accessorising, but I’m totally smitten with the Roman's approach. They really elevate every outfit with their beautiful jewelry and quirky handbags, and even their hats and sunglasses make me wish I had packed more of them.
You guys, the inspiration here is on another level! I even spotted this cute little independent vintage shop in Trastevere. Filled with lace dresses and fabulous 70s floral patterns, you bet your bottom dollar I found a beautiful turquoise blouse to add to my travel wardrobe.
A Little Culture (and Pizza!)
So far, I’ve already visited the Trevi Fountain, tossed my coin over my shoulder (hoping for another trip back to this magical city) and gazed up at the breathtaking Colosseum. Just seeing these wonders in person is such an amazing experience. The sheer scale and artistry of them, built so many years ago, just takes my breath away. You feel like you're stepping back in time, don't you? I couldn't help snapping a few pictures.
But what's a trip to Rome without indulging in some delicious food?
You already know I'm a big fan of Italian food! This place doesn’t disappoint at all. I already tried some incredible carbonara, and let me tell you, it’s worth every calorie. And don't even get me started on the pizza! I had the most divine pizza at this tiny hole-in-the-wall place near Piazza Navona. The thin crust, fresh toppings, and the divine aroma - a true Italian treat!
I'm just craving more pizza right now as I write this! I should really take a break for lunch! The sun is warming the city now and it's just calling out to me to get outside and explore some more!
Dancing Dreams in Rome
Of course, you can't come to Italy without a dose of culture, especially for a ballet fan like me! And you'd be surprised what this city has in store for a dancer, both past and present!
Today I am headed to the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma to catch a performance of “Giselle”. This masterpiece of ballet is so heartbreaking and beautiful and I’ve dreamt of seeing it live since I was a little girl. It’s almost time to go now, I can't wait!
Pink Tutu Thoughts
It's so amazing to be in this vibrant and stylish city. I can feel myself growing into my Rome-themed style with every passing day, my own brand of chic pink.
And hey, remember my dream to get everyone to wear pink tutus? I’ve spotted a few girls here who definitely have the potential to rock the pink tutu trend, perhaps just needing a little encouragement from me! Just imagine - Rome, with all its beautiful architecture, fashion and delicious food – and a sprinkling of pink tutus! Now that's a vision worth cherishing!
Till next week my lovely friends,
Lots of love and pirouettes,
Emma xoxo
P.S. I’ve been making lots of new friends here. The hotel I’m staying in has a little rooftop garden and I’ve met the cutest little poodle who is also sporting a pink bow! Talk about a coincidence.
